    The 2 of you have registered with the forum especially to make these comments. What's going on? I have always found this to be a friendly, family shop which is particularly good with the school children, when the school's are open.

    Please could you describe how to do that for someone who has no experience? I'm imagining holding their collar and walking to a fenced off part of the park maybe?

    We saw a green woodpecker in a tree in PRP near Harris boys today!

    I've just googled as I had no idea there were allotments there! The council's website says apply in person on site only. I've had my name on various local waiting lists (Friern Rd, One Tree Hill etc) for years and never heard anything. I wonder if they've lost my details?

    Yesterday there were 2 fire engines pumping water into Harris Boy's for approx 3 hours. There was only a light smell of smoke and no visible flames though.

    I saw a pair of pied wagtails with a young one today. So lovely as I used to see them as a child a few decades ago out in the sticks, but have never seen them up here before!

    Someone I know, so not first hand experience: They got into neither. Are half the distance to East Charter than where you describe yourself living, but a third further away from North Charter than you.

    Unfortunately we saw a dead frog on a park path yesterday. On a happier note, there was a flock of starlings dancing around on the common a little while ago which was just big enough to get the murmmeration patterns going.

    A birdwatching friend and my small son were the other day discussing why on earth these lovelies are sometimes viewed as a nuisance. They nest in nooks of our flats and I love seeing and hearing them out of the window!

    Maybe the road could be narrowed again. The pavement is so narrow because it is mostly, if not all, actually the outside space belonging to the shop buildings. The original pavements were removed or mostly removed when the road was widened for trams.
