The penny has dropped :)
  3. I think Jermaine Defoe has always been massively underrated. He has should have been in the England team consistently. Not because he was brilliant, but because he was always hungry and shot on impulse.
  4. I have never been so clostrophobic as at Cheltenham, so had to stop going.
  5. I layed mine a few years ago in first week of April - good growing time. The strenuous bit is digging up the old grass - good luck with that KK! Also its all in the preparation - as you have time, then you should put down the soil / sand base and allow it time to settle - you can then add a levelling layer of top soil before the turf. I wouldn't rush to get it done in february
  6. I personally don't have any issues with MU, I think they are easily the most entertaining team in England over the last 20 years. Whilst I didn't support them in the formal sense I couldn't justify favouring any other team over them. They have been bloody stupid though and are playing so badly I now find myself with no interest in watching them. Quids - if you are watching for their odds of winning the premiership, I'd do it over 5 years rather than 1.
  7. You didn't get my joke ?
  8. Current score is Shalke 04 Real Madrid :)
  9. I recall United were the richest club in England even during the 20+ barren years before SAF recovered them. So I think they will always be wealthy, but where you have an owner with > 50% control then you never know for sure what proportion of the finances make their way to the pitch.
  10. Interesting post grabot.
  11. That was betfair at start of season, not now, 8/1 now. Actually checking back it was 33/1 not 66/1 - soz
  12. Hayes' unstoppable strike ended Fraser Forster's 1,256-minute run without letting in a league goal. Goal is 44 seconds into video: http://sport.stv.tv/football/265464-neil-lennon-says-referee-ruined-game-as-celtic-go-down-to-aberdeen/ If you are not interested in Scottish football, please don't bother telling me again.

My reference to relative novice also applies when comparing Moyes now to Ferguson when appointed, Ferguson was already a winner of a European trophy. Moyes was a huge gamble by a club/PLC that should be taking only calculated risks. Liverpool - 66/1 is value.
  14. Where you are starting from is the key difference RD. Liverpool - desperate to try anything after 20 years without winning. Choose a manager on the up. Still haven't won anything but people consider that "doing very well" because of the starting point being low. Man United - a winning formula, quality manager with a winning mentality swopped for a relative novice. Stupid move.

It was the biggest decision they had to make since replacing Busby and they allowed SAF to choose his own man. In terms of whether the name of this thread holds true long term (and remember I was quoting a MU fan) it will be a case of not repeating the same mistake when replacing Moyes, which already seems inevitable. Unfortunately some of the attraction of MU to the very top managers will already have been watered down by the drop in form, although some of the managers whose star is on the rise will probably see it as a better opportunity now there has been a bit of a lowering of expectations.
  16. Louisa. Please ..... stay for good this time. Voice of Paul Young....
  17. Losing in Greece. The season is over. Eek.
  18. I think for people with kids (lots of them in ED) it will be a great help to have a local cinema - you don't want to be paying a babysitter for the time it takes you to travel to and from Brixton/Peckham etc. Also - being able to have a drink before or after and walk home is a big advantage. Edited to say - the kids will enjoy the cinema too - I forgot about that.
  19. It would be great to be able to walk to the cinema, and such a central location. What's not to like. Anyone got any idea on timing - I guess it's a couple of years off even if all goes to plan? Any idea James?
  20. The horse Wednaan that ST chased home in Yarmouth has come second in the UAE 2000 GUINEAS last week http://www.racingpost.com/horses/result_home.sd?race_id=595999&r_date=2014-02-13&popup=yes#results_top_tabs=re_&results_bottom_tabs=ANALYSIS

  22. Was lovely today, apart from being at work of course.
  23. I didn't witness it myself but apparently my Rory was supporting "the green team". Good boy.
  24. Nothing worse than fair weather rugby fans. Really enjoyed the game. Possibly the two top teams in this year's competition giving it their all. I think we are top.
  25. I've changed him to Marler.
