Will be interesting to see if there is any truth in that - if it is true then Man United are smarter than I thought - but also slightly pessimistic (turned realistic) in looking towards the prospect of non performance.

I remember being at this game - standing in the North Bank - it was the beginning of a tide of change towards MU in English football. 4 years after his appointment. "This was the night on which Ferguson finally located United's G-spot, when he swapped Sextonian football with sexy football to quite devastating effect. Arsenal were an outrageously good side, who would lose only once in winning the league and concede only 18 goals in 38 league games, but Ferguson dropped his captain Neil Webb, went with a 4-2-4 formation and watched United tear Arsenal asunder on the counter-attack. Lee Sharpe, 19, grabbed the glory with a marvellously accomplished hat-trick - strangely, none of them came with his left foot - but the real facilitator was Danny Wallace. Asked to play centre-forward in what is probably the biggest tactical masterstroke of Ferguson's career, he was as elusive as an urchin pickpocket and gave Tony Adams and Steve Bould an almighty chasing. Wallace made four, scored one and - truthfully - played like Romario. For him, alas, it was a false dawn. For United and Ferguson, it was the start of a decade of the richest entertainment." I wonder of SAF was in agreement with the decision to sack Moyes or if he continued to support him - and also if SAF's opinion will have much weight for the next appointment. It will be more of a group decision making process this time I imagine.

Having watched MOTD, that was never a Sunderland penalty, the player stepped on the Chelsea defenders foot and then slipped. Lots of decisions are going Liverpools way these last few weeks, not that I'm bothered.

I have a friend who is a Liverpool fan and for years have had to listen to the we can't compete financially argument which I see as holding some truth but also works as a convenient excuse. I have been saying the right manager can make a huge difference and overcome these limitations, within reason.

Don't forget that on 80k the government is going to take about 1/3 of your salary. So if you can then save half of 80k from what you have left then good for you, I don't think we will see you out and about much. -

We are currently recruiting at not much below that level of salary for a junior role in FS Tax and we are struggling to get someone half decent. -

Does she not get it? She should be allocating the whole next month to your footballing plans. I hope you have told her.

Confirmed for Thursday. Horse is apparently in great shape but its up against some decent opposition apparently. Eurostar is booked! :) Dear All, Silver Treasure has been declared to run in the 14:20 (French time) at Longchamp on Thursday. He has been drawn in stall 8 of 9 and Ioritz Mendizabal had been booked to ride. It is the fourth race on the card. P.S. It looks a pretty warm race despite being only a maiden, but Silver Treasure has good form also so will hopefully run a big race. Many thanks, Amy Weaver.

Liverpool's performance on Sunday..... Thought overall impressive but when it went to 2-2 I thought there was only going to be one winner and thought a number of Liverpool players went missing, especially Suarez who thought at 2-2 that the only way to win an important game was by fooling the referee into penalties/free kicks he didn't deserve, and clearly lost his composure by being regularly caught offside. The winner was a bit of an opportunistic effort, brilliantly taken. Liverpool of course won't mind one bit how they got the points, any win against MC is fantastic, but they do seem to freeze a bit when teams come back at them. My worry is that, assuming they beat Norwich??, that against Chelsea, they wont be able to establish that early lead, Chelsea being what they are.

My magnificent seven were not so magnificent, so last night I backed Blixt and Ricky Fowler to chase my losses. Oh and Senden too....

Good luck Liverpool. It will be an emotional day one way or another.

All success is bought to a certain extent. Liverpool buying Dalglish and Barnes in the old days. But if Liverpool could win this year it would be a case of them punching way above their financial weight, which would be refreshing.

Not a big Gerrard fan here either maxxi. But he looks up for the fight I have to admit. Sunday is a very big game in his career.
-
Westwood played well and had a bit of good fortune to avoid a disaster at 13 when pulling the ball into the trees quids. Happy with my choices as 4 of the 7 are under par.
-
The magnificent seven: McIlroy, Stenson, Haas, Donald, Mennesaro, Snedeker, Zach Johnson (rory bet is disproportionate to the others)

You are very agreeable today PD. What's wrong? ;)
