  1. I was in Ireland at the weekend EP - big clouds followed us from the north to the south for 4 days. Only got soaked occasionally. You didn't move there for the weather did you? :)

If England are good enough to get out of their group they are a better team than I thought.
  3. Not keen to see the most expensively constructed team winning on this occasion. Good as they are I feel its a shame. I think a Liverpool win would have been a success for coaching and a coach who achieved the sum of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. A team for less than 100m winning the league would have been good to see. Call me an old romantic, but I'd like to have seen that and Mourinho's tactics against Liverpool were just destructive, I don't like to see that winning through either. Rodgers showed some weaknesses too of course. Man City are a possession team with the best players. Liverpool was very much, we will score more than you. Great fun and the best season for a while, for me. What will be interesting is whether Liverpool now spend as the others have done. They will probably need to as they significantly overperformed their resources this year.
  4. Boring Quids? ... I don't see the word boring 1 "Lots of harm done. Nothing cavalier about Man City, a team that slows the game down and scores on the counter attack. Mourinho just handed another title to the most expensive team in the country, something the neutral won't want to see."
  5. Has RD been to the barber yet to ask for a "van Gaal" ?
  6. A Benji's hot triple egg omlette torpedo was a staple office lunch in the 90s.
  7. I sent you what I'd done.

Pitying looks.... Well lets face it, they are used to receiving them, so they know how to give them.
  9. Parkdrive Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So will City, more or less, wrap up the title > tonight? Well no - because they would potentially still need a point on Sunday.
  10. It looked closed this morning and no sign of life - has it closed does anyone know?
  11. Before tonight there was a reliance on City dropping points, that's still the case I guess. Villa were on fire on Saturday ;)
  12. Yikes. Feeling for all Liverpool fans but that was just sheer carelessness. It had been coming though.

Mourinho just handed another title to the most expensive team in the country, something the neutral won't want to see. I thought Liverpool might score their way to the title. I know a lot of Liverpool fans young and old who are gutted. I bet on them as I wanted Brendan Rogers to be successful. Shame they fell short.
  14. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > No they didn't at all, bur you know, grrr. Seems a case of near and yet so far for Liverpool. Shame and ironic that the possibility of a team winning the EPL playing cavalier attacking football had their hopes crunched by such a negative killjoy as Mourinho.

Barca also played a high line for many seasons and Puyol read the game/orchestrated any necessary last ditch recoveries. You need very sharp players to make the tactic work, but it can work as it stifles the oppositions midfield - its a possession winning tactic. (edited to add that with the wrong personnel, eg AVB's Spurs, it can be made to look naive)
