  1. Its not a team issue and I'm not going to mention Celtic. Its just a good opportunity missed by UEFA.

  3. Arsene Wenger - We proved he was actually touched and he had to go down. Sorry - what a load of absolute bollox Arsene. This is not a team v team issue or a moral high ground issue (matt!), I just hate cheating, I hate even more UEFA being feeble and buckling under pressure and I hate even more the Arsene Wenger/Eduardo double act saying patronisingly that justice has been done. The whole thing is a joke and diving will be a plague on the game as much as ever. UEFA will not now ever have the balls to charge a player with diving as they will never get a more blatent dive in a widely viewed match. To deal with the contact issue - anyone who says Eduardo was touched and therefore he did not dive or attempt to mislead the referee is missing the point - any objective person can see that Eduardo decided to fall and was 2/3 down before this alleged contact could have taken place. If you fall over before being touched - that is a dive. Anyone that protects Eduardo is protecting a cheat. Bad news for football.
  4. The other shops are effectively "corner shop" types - these are fine but you need a maximum of 2 in any 100 yard strip - we have 5, thats too many and the fact that they are still all doing ok suggests we need something more wide ranging. An awful lot of people live at the upper end of LL and they do not have any large or small supermarket nearby - its great that we can have a Sainbury to do a proper shop or to just buy a decent bottle of wine. I think it will do fantastically well and it will be good for the little shopping area that we have - who knows we might even get a new pub/bar or restaurant at some point, the little Italian Tea Room seems to be doing very well.
  5. the somerfield application was on the outside less than a year ago as i read it. I however would be very pleased with a sainsbury. Something good up our end of the lane will save me getting in the car.
  6. I'll have to post that clip of you Morris Dancing again Lawrence.

  8. Orange juicer?
  9. People thought my father looked like Michael Caine, Rosie - not that I'm suggesting anything. Did you Mum look like Julie Walters?

  11. "Mick - I was just suggesting that we don't get too reverential towards the man - he wasn't noted for his own respect of etiquette after all" Ok no worries Sean, I was posting from my mobile phone at the time so had not seen Bob's post, so not clear what you meant.
  12. Yes Rosie - if the company goes bust you are not guaranteed anything, that's correct - but otherwise your entitled to your notice in one form or another. Redundancy is a more tricky issue. I did not take it from the OP that the company had gone bust, but its a fair point.

We are all people living normal lives at the end of the day.
  14. my father also died from cancer moos and its takes great strength to handle cancer with the dignity that patrick swayze did.

I dont get it sean. Anyway it seems there has been enough interest for this to have been a stand alone thread. Im pleased about that as he seemed a really nice guy and always good fun. I look forward to lots of bbc tribute repeats. Always good value.
  16. .
  17. This is a thread for keith floyd. Lets pay him some respect . He was a tremendous presenter and a great character. I always enjoyed his programmes and watching him cook. Death of famous people is still quite rare and deserve a thread. They soon fall away if noone is interested. As for a deaths section well noone is going to go there. It would be more dead than the drawing room. Id suggest we do less rather than more tampering with the lounge unless we want to deprive it of its range and diversity.
  18. very sad.
  19. after brave fight against cancer.
  20. Just finished Jah - was on Sky Sports 2 and radio 5 extra.
  21. Amazing tennis match - Del Potro has beaten Federer at 20 years old = 6-2 in the final set. The Sky commentators called this a "1 horse race" early in the 4th set - he looked down and out at 2-1 down but he made them eat their words. Possibly the best tennis match I have ever seen. The standard was amazingly high. The USTA president has just called it "one of the greatest finals in US Open history". The Del Potro forehand is the new hot shot in tennis.
  22. 20 year old del potro takes the 4th set against federer. Great match. He looked down and out but pushing federer very hard now.
  23. A 1970s clip shows a man waking up in bed and a "Home Computer Terminal" beside his bed. It looks like a large typewriter. The commentary says: "Before he gets up he can field the questions of the world from his home". He does this in his 1970s pyjamas. If you look very carefully at the typewriter, you can see on the front in very small letters the word "blackberry". Aaaarrrgh.

"Most" - Surely they don't have any choice Rosie? I'd be rather miffed if I did not receive a notice period. Also, if they pay you funds in lieu of notice and ask you to leave on the day, it should be tax free, unless the contract said you could be paid in lieu.
