  1. After a profitable week the Quids family can eat meat this week, that's why Quids has "steak" on his mind.
  2. Can't make it - get back from holiday Saturday.

  4. I consider my bet on Westwood a "good" bet despite the fact that that he lost in the play off. Did a saver on Kaymar meaning I won if either player won, but a ?15 profit is of little consolation given that I would have been looking at ?180 if Westwood won. But still a good call given that he was a few back when I placed the bet and it was good to watch his 65 yesterday as he moved through the field, its always worth backing experience. He might be worth an each way in the Open??? Quids - I'm afraid I relly know very little about cricket, but would be good to hear from those who do how it might pan out. Might have a look at the odds tonight.
  5. People saying that the first 2 teams contained poor selections are presumably basing this on the performance of Saturday's team against a much weaker Spingbok 15 than played in the first 2 matches. The win on Saturday is nothing more than a bit of consolation and the fact that the Lions won so easily just makes me feel that the Springbok team from Saturday was significantly weaker than the team that won the series. What the Lions can take away from this series is that it contested at the highest possible level the first two tests and lost out by only a few points. The scrum in the fist test and the second half injuries in the second test were the difference and a team that is made up of a number of different nationalities will always be at a disadvantage in trying to get the right mix when playing against a team that has won the world cup and pretty much has a settled side. The Lions concept is much stronger after this tour than it was going into this tour, many thought they would not be able to compete, but the Boks got a real test. I think its always good to debate how to change things for the better, but I hope David and BN5's idea of adding the French does not materialise as I think this Lions squad gave an excellent account of themselves and I look forward to the next one.
  6. matt. Do you think they did not pick a team to win the series? I think they picked the right teams with possible exception of being too slow to react to the scrummaging crisis in the first test.
  7. westwood in good shape. One behind kaymar. Have done a small saver on kaymar so am hoping noone else enters the mix.
  8. Just watched here on BBC2 Glastonbury 2009 - she really is gorgeous. She has a certain something.
  9. I think that's the one I backed in the 3.15 at Sandown today. If he got back to Peckham by 3.21 (as the photo suggests) he must have sped up after the race finished.
  10. Just to add that im a fan of green and blue generally in that i have been there quite a few times for sit in drinks and food. I have also been to one of their wine tastings which was a great evening. I just like nicolas above all other wine shops as am a bit of a francophile.
  11. Lions can take loads of positives from this tour. Lions 74 - 63 Boks
  12. No need Quids - no need my friend. I'm happy that I backed the horse that had decent odds for its chances. I can't back at 4/7 without risking too much money. Having watched the replay (did not see the race) I feel Rip van Winkle has real class and will back it next time - it could possibly go for the Arc?. I would question Jimmy Fortune's riding, why sit 2 lenghts behind the years best horse and allow it to take a lead into the final 2 furlongs? A furlong out Rip seemed to have the class to overtake but he seems a confused horse, seemed to come up alongside Sea the Stars and did not seem to know how to go past. Sometimes horses are not leaders. But it definately has class. Sea the Stars is class but there is not much between the first two today and Fame and Glory, so the next race they compete in will be tough to call.
  13. Darren Clarke double bogeys the 16th and Westwood double bogeys the 2nd hole. Great. I think the betting gods are trying to tell me not to bother. Rip van Winkle should stay in his stables.
  14. Its a great game Declan - but a dirty game too - not just in respect of dirty goings on in the rucks but also its a game where teams actively try to break the rules to get an advantage, if they do this successfully and con the referree its seen as a good thing. I remember Neil Back knocking the ball out of Peter Stringer's hand as he was about to put it into the scrum in a Heineken Cup Final - blatent cheating. Or Finlay Calder's forearm smash into Jim Staples' nose in the 1991 world cup game. Its a tough game that I love to watch from the comfort of my armchair. I respect those guys who play it enormously for their skill and bravery, but the referee's job is a tough one, to keep the various types of "cheating" in check.
  15. Black cats are good luck, but they never seem to keep any of that for themselves.
  16. I'm at a BBQ today Matt - so not around in ED - but I will be watching it - I lost interest after last week but have regained my enthusiasm today - would be good to win one. I have worked out that they have 54 points so far and we have 46 - so a >8 point win for the Lions and we can take a minor moral victory home with us. However unlikely that may be. But in truth today I think we will get beten confortable today, too many big players have gone from the Lions team.
  17. Clarke has a bit of a round going - 4 under for the front nine.
  18. Have a good one Rosie - nice weather for drinking, do your worst.
  19. No. See Betting matters for today's losing punts....amazing how many bets you can place while the kids have their breakfast.
  20. I'm going to oppose Sea the Stars in the Eclipse today and back Rip van Winkle @ 7.6 on Betfair - its a long shot and this horse has not produced at Group 1 level as yet but OBrien camp rate it very highly so today may be its day. Sea the Stars is probably the horse we should back but at 1.63 the odds are just far too short to be worth a bet. Its very rare for any horse to keep winning Group 1s, no matter how good it is. Quids - I usually think its best to back on golf after 2 rounds to see who's in the mix. McDowell is out of it so have backed Westwood at 10/1 this morning. But Green looks in very good position. Whats odds did you get? I've also had ?2 on Darren Clarke at 500/1 as he has just moved to -3. Those are good odds.
  21. No - apparently he was found guilty of a lesser charge, not guilty of gouging. Cleared
  22. Minnie the minx..?
  23. Sorry - Nicolas wins over G&B every time. I love French wine and know a little bit about it as we holiday there most years - I like the way Nicolas sets its wines out by French region so I have an idea of what they might taste like. Sometimes I'll go for Bordeaux (with steak), or Burgundy or Rhone depending on the occaision. The prices in Nicolas are completely clear. I know what I want to spend each time I go in there. Usually ?6 - ?10 and there is lots of choice at that price. They have a bargain basement discounted wine as you walk in the door and in recent credit crunch times I have been buying that wine more and more as it is really reasonable. Green and Blue - I just find completley confusing - it is set out by taste (I think ?) but generally I just want old world wines and I'm afraid the G&B set up has never worked for me. I think if you have to ask for help then thats a bad thing - it should be self explanatory - and as Keef says when you ask for help you end up saying yes to a bottle of wine that is above what you wanted to pay - so I just don't go in there. I don't remember ever buying a ?23 bottle of wine in Nicolas but you can get a good Bordeaux for ?10-?15 - for me that is perfect price/quality ratio.

I say that was rather brave Quids....maybe you don't like the name Josh?
  25. Well said BN5 - and I think I said pretty much the same thing a few posts above - his intention was clear - and as a result I'm amazed he was not found guilty of gouging, it is the most obvious attempt ever seen on television to my knowledge.
