  2. Heard on Radio 5 that a recent survey published today, British people would most like to meet Jesus. Apart from him, what dead person would you like to meet given the chance and why? Poll results were as follows: 1. Jesus 2. Princess Diana 3. William Shakespeare 4. Albert Einstein 5. Marilyn Monroe 6. Leonardo da Vinci 7. Elvis Presley 8. Roald Dahl 9. Freddie Mercury 10. Martin Luther King (44. Jade Goody!) I'd like to have met 1) Harry Vardon (the first real international golfer - he could give me a few pointers) 2) Johnny Cash (later life version) 3) George Best (1968 version) Who would make your top 3 ?
  3. I would go further and add Lee Byrne, Lee Mears, Ugo Monya (spelling?) and Tom Croft and there are probably more. I did not see yesterdays game.
  4. Whao - those are good odds TLS. Good luck with that one.
  5. I can't see Labour accepting defeat at the next election being a good move Michael - it might be at least 2 terms before they get in again if the tories ride the upturn in the economy. If I were them I'd pursue a change of leader now and hope for signs of a quick pick up in the economy before the next election. They might have an outside chnace of getting in again with a new leader but no chance with Brown after this weeks events.
  6. Good result for Ireland drawing 1-1 in Bulgaria tonight (Berbatov typically poor).
  7. Yep Sportbilly = I used to live nr Blackheath and it had the same problem - too many "ok" restaurants and not enough really good ones. Its a real shame when another one opens/revamps and is no better. There is a real opportunity for a higher end restaurant to make good money.

This sounds great and I can't wait to go along, especially as its been recomended by an Italian. Sounds cheap as chips too, so a good addition to ED. Look forward to giving it a go.

I second this Asset. The best meal I ever had was Italian in the Intercontinental Hotel - had a great veal steak for main and various starters of mozarella, risotto etc. Very subtle combinations of tastes. What we don't need is another mid level restarant - personally I have only been to Locale once and did not think it was very good. A quality Italian would make a killing.

    The Derby

?100 rather than ?100k Kells. Well done Quids - I have a policy of never backing the Guineas winner for the Derby, but it had to happen sometime. A really class horse, the winner. Well done.

  18. Saw a thread a few months ago and quickly went online to buy tickets for "Florence and the machine" tonight at the Bloomsbury Ballroom. Think it was Giggirl who recomended Florence - much appreciated - I was amazed at how good she was. Whats more, I spoke to Florence after the gig when some people were having a photo taken. Also had a chat with "Gavin" from "Gavin and Stacey" - was tempted to say Stacey was queen of their marriage because she was an ED resident, but I let him get away with a handshake....

  20. I don't understand why anyone is still supporting Arsenal.
  21. My brother a Liverpool fan sent me this (it does not reflect my personal allegiences) Around the Tiber strange noises were heard, the ominous sound of a red liverbird. Those on the ground stood still and listened, as under its wings 5 trophies glistened. Said the bird "a friend of mine twice conquered Rome, and ever since then it's been my 2nd home. The 1st time he came he arrived by tank, do you think I'd surrender it to some f##kin manc? Looks like the devils have been left in the lurch and guess what folks - I'm still on my perch!!"
  22. I'll try to make it - but next week I'm in ireland playing golf with mates so might be tough to engage another evening pass the day after I arrive back - but hey I'm my own man - what do I care, I'll be there...
  23. Debra has been using that new ageing cream. Very effective.
  24. Look, some mums in ED do not work, their hubbys are rich and therefore the car is nice, but tightarse richdads give poor housekeeping and therefore stay at home mums look to cut costs everywhere to help release funds for caffe lattes in the village. Completely understandable.
  25. SP - you are the best team in England and you could hardly get a touch of the ball - sorry mate but they are bloody good. Its not all about goalscorimng chances, they just shielded the ball brilliantly and exposed MU's central midfield weaknesses - pure class. And when the speeded things up they found big spaces in MU's defence. People in my work (having read the poor press previews) were talking today of Barca's defensive weakness and how that would be exposed - what nonsense.
