  1. TLS - Of course - yes - I do remember him - I used to watch the Comedians - Tom O'Connor/Jimmy Cricket etc - probably that show was a forerunner of standup - the first time that one comedian after another would run a 5 min slot - used to love it on Saturday nights (before drink and girls were invented). Yep Stan was a funny one.
  2. Frustaed Lawyer The buses are great - this guy makes the 185 an uncomfortable experience for everyone.
  3. Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > DM I hate to disagree, but what a load of crap. Thats a great line Louisa.
  4. but chopsticks is not on a corner. That would sound silly.

  6. Orla - I think we all now understand how frightening this must have been. And you are right, it has increased awareness.
  7. This is a very tricky one DPF - you might have to call time soon and put us out of our collective miseries...
  8. Eh - is it you like, eh Ton? If its not you (and I don't know what you look like) I have not got a clue....
  9. honk - you are missing the point - this guy is extremely rude. No other bus driver asks you to hand, through the glass, your travel card and your photo card. He does this not by speaking to you but rapping the glass with his knuckle and gesturing, while you, the paying customer, tries to figure out what he wants. Lets admit it - you need to be pretty rude for a whole bunch of east dulwich people to write a thread about you - most people would not even notice their bus driver - this guy goes out of his way to get noticed.
  10. Easy - My Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 v6 24valve etc etc Sold it just last week for ?800 on ebay - very sad to see it go after 7 years. :( Have upgraded to a German car but not the same fun at all.
  11. I'll answer this on behalf of the girls: Your best dress is always your shortest one >:D<
  12. Will have another look at youtube tonight to check out the famous face - but I thought thay all looked like Shane McGowan.
  13. i think ?1.50 a pint (JDW price in other areas) is unrealistic as a general price per pint. I came to england in 1989 and i worked part time in a bar in bushey heath near watford. It was 1.55 a pint then for kronenborg. Thats 20 years ago. What you will probably find is prices stay the same during the recession so may feel cheaper in couple of years.
  14. eh Man Utd and Bolton ?
  15. TLS/ANNASFIELD Great singing, but they are an odd looking bunch the 1960s liverpudlians.
  16. ratty Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Pompey Vs Villa tomorrow night on Sky. Pompey with > 2 new players will be looking to avoid being > thrashed. Pele has signed for Pompey - so they may have a chance...
  17. Matthew - good guess - but Declan answered that one some time ago: Tommy Gemmell 1967 and 1970.
  18. Ah - what book - I made the whole thing up. I'm sure I did.
  19. Ha - yes matthew123 this is true - but when 15 year old Dalglish tried out for Liverpool he was not good enough - as Bill Shankly recognised - but he was not "farmed out" as you say, as this suggests Liverpool had some hold over the youngster - this was not the case - they rejected him. Jock Stein took the player on - but he was initially not good enough for celtic either (obvious, being a better team than Liverpool then): "It took Dalglish three years to establish himself in the first team. At that time Celtic were not only top dogs in Glasgow, thay were top dogs in Europe, having become the first British team to win the European Cup, beating the mighty Inter Milan" Jock Stein made him the player he was to become - as Shankly recognised Stein's talents when Celtic first won the European Cup he said: Jock - "you are immortal": Shankley looked up to Stein - any player that Jock had, liverpool wanted - and hence in 1977 Liverpool bought the finished article.

Mark Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Bizzy Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > > To those who state that God was dreamt up in > mans mind - who do you think gave man that idea? > ;-) > > Man Mark - I have only just read this one - priceless humour. Nice one. I personally believe that thunder led to all this religious nonsense - a simple idea - but many moons ago people could not understand thunder/storms/floods/natural disasters - these were attributed to an external force who was unhappy - hence a god was invented in wise peoples minds - they could use this natural weather as a way of making badly behaved elements behave - hence thunder was seen as a punishment from an angry third party, this third party is still with us and plays far too big a role in our everyday lives. We need people to understand that there is no "next life" reward for good behaviour, the reward for being a moral person is here and now, and if you are good you become a respected person, someone whom people trust in. To believe in anything else is probably a waste of time and an unnecesary stress in a stressful world - hence the athiest bus - "stop worrying" means don't worry about what will happen in the afterlife - because there is no second life.
  21. I used to go to Islington in the early 1990s - i rented in Finsbury Park (affordable) but went for beers in more up market Islington - it was there I first came across a pint for ?2. Shocked I was, immediatley went to a payphone and told all and sundry what a rip off London/Islington was. But I think that ED is not expensive - Prices go up, we get used to that, cheap pubs are not in general a good thing and certainly not a weatherspoons. You can always have a sneaky beer ot two before going out, that should get you started.
  22. I think it Declans question, as he correctly answered the old one. But nevertheless Steve T - it might be a Real Madrid manager who won the league but that was not good enough - maybe Capello?
  23. If it is Notts County - is it because they are the oldest club in football?
  24. That is a big spade you are digging yourself into a hole with Dulwich Mum - but I'm sure several guinness would put it right.
  25. Setanta have just said that Everton playmaker Arteta is injured and will miss todays tie - should give Liverpool the midfield edge (if they did not have it already). Hope Liverpool win, think their fans need a lift....
