  2. Are you going to start this off with you opinion AG?
  3. The James Last orchestra - very overrated.
  4. For me - Some beers (only one so far) accompanied by bombay mix and pastacios. Mrs M is out tonight, so I don't have to eat good stuff.
  5. You are winning them over BBW - what a difference a day makes, well negotiated my man.
  6. not sure this is good news for me. I have setanta but not sky so less matches. I thought setanta coverage was ok considering it is a much cheaper product.
  7. OK - another clue - he's Japanese.
  8. Barca are always my ch league team - look forward to him making a contribution...
  9. I have not actually, bit out of touch with Spanish football, so happy to stand corrected, has he scored lots of goals? Anyway, lets see when the big games come up later in the champions league - I'll look out for him.
  10. No sorry. Clue - he had an unusual swing and he almost won the US Open.

"Sunshine Player" Indeed!! I knew someone would not like it - I knew it was controversial - I did say he could be absolutley sublime (I had the MU goal in mind) - and really I used him as my link to Larsson. But you have to admit he went missing a few times when needed. I understand Arsenal fans' great loyalty to him, but I also was dissapointed to see he did not make it at Barcelona, where he could have really cemented his reputation. Noone likes to see their hero's reputation tested, and I agree he did a lot for Arsenal.
  12. Slumdog is by all accounts brilliant (but I have not seen it). Button has had great reviews too and Frost Nixon also. You are spoilt for choice it seems.
  13. Now we are scraping the barrel...
  14. Ah Microbite - golf is my game. James started the first golf club in England, Royal Blackheath, where I had my wedding reception, I forgot at first that Mary Q of Scots was before him. My question: Who famously won a house for achieving a hole in one at the World Matchplay Championship at Wentworth (1970s or 1980s)
  15. and wearing a skirt...
  16. Earlier royal golfer: Mary Queen of Scots?
  17. James, King of Scotland and England circa 1600? The first royal golfer.
  18. I relation to all of the above, I would say Bergkamp and Cantona are the best "strikers" although i guess neither are out and out goal scorers. I'd add Shearer at his peak, as an out and out goalscorer but obviously a very different player. None of these three were ever found wanting when the chips were down/pressure was on. I'm not a David Beckham fan, I think George Best summed him up pretty good as Keef said, but other than brilliant delivery I fail to get it with Beckham. Tierry Henry - can be absolutely sublime - the complaint I would have about him is that to my recollection he rarely scored goals when Arsenal were behind against top opposition and really were in need of a goal. A friend of mine calls him a "sunshine" player...maybe not one to rely on when really needed. He had a good chance to win the Ch League final for Arsenal against Barcelona when Arsenal were struggling to protect a 1-0 lead and broke upfield, but shot tamely at the goalkeeper, cue Henrik Larsson, now there's a player to rely on when the chips are down. Henry said: "People always talk about Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Giuly and everything, but I didn't see them today, I saw Henrik Larsson. He came on, he changed the game, that is what killed the game. Sometimes you talk about Ronaldinho and Eto'o and people like that; you need to talk about the proper footballer who made the difference, and that was Henrik Larsson tonight" Larsson played a few games in the premiership aged 35, so as my personal hero I'm giving him a mention. Fergusson made many earlier approaches to sign him, but for me I'm glad he stayed in Glasgow.
  19. Perhaps ED would be better served moving boroughs to be a poor man in a good borough rather than a rich man in a poor borough as we are now. I'll petition Kensington and Chelsea council to let us in and then someone can feel sorry for us and give us loads of money. Its all relative - I don't think we have many quality amenities; schools, swimming pools etc are poor - why should we not be prioritised to receive funding, just because Southwark is a poor borough. We pay equal if not more council tax, based upon more people in work than these other areas. The people who have worked hardest never get anything for free - always paying out...local services are so poor people end up paying for schools, swimming pools etc.
  20. And if david does confirm then please please can we go back to a more mainstream sports question. I for one have not had a clue about these recent ones...
  21. I afree with lard - there are many other contenders - but when Roy Keane was at his best, he had no equal - and don't say Viera. I think Gerrard is an excellent ATTACKING midfielder, but Keane had it all, he won the ball all over the pitch, perfect distribution and scored goals. Gerrard looks especially good because he has probaby the best long shot the premiership has ever seen - but I don't think he is the best all round midfielder.
  22. Thats a useful clarification boosboss: "you would be within your rights to refuse to pay an employee who cannot make it into work because they are 'snowed in' or because public transport has been cancelled due to the weather" And I think my employer took the following advice: "However, you should assess whether this would be in the interests of your business. It may be that the financial burden to the business of paying staff in these circumstances is outweighed by the benefits that such a gesture would have on staff morale and productivity in the long run. " Which I agree, is good PR for them with employees who face huge time and stress demands at many points in the year.
  23. I like the fact that he stands his ground, otherwise I'm not sure he's for real, possibly seeking attention.
  24. you are winding tony up again HB...time for you guys to shake hands like real gentlemen?
  25. The distance between my home and my employer is 6.7 miles each way. Now thats fine in good conditions, i walk that distance regularly. Its slightly different in 5/6 inches of snow, never mind potentially dangerous. I don't think employers should expect that from employees, most to be fair did not and i think Keefs employer is being ureasonable. if you work for the emergency services, you have got to make it, everyone depends on you. However if you work for a city institution where nothing is being bought or sold at the moment then I don't think its a reasonable ask - but in any case i had an email saying no need to come in - so I'm happy that employee and employer agreed.
