Before O'Neill, Celtic had won the league ONCE in 13 years, Rangers having won the other 12 - so he made an immediate impact winning the treble for Celtic in his first season, winning the league by 20 points in his 1st season and winning his first old firm game 6-2. Given that the previous but one manager John Barnes said that Celtic were 5 years behind Rabgers this was quite an achievement. The UEFA Cup final was probably the highlight, losing to Jose's Porto in extra time.

  4. Oh I see - yep, I may want to retire to France, true enough. Love France and all things French, although i suspect the ex rate may move a few times this way and that before I am lucky enough to retire.
  5. Benmorg - Why do we factor in a fall in sterling if we live in the uk?
  6. I like a bet as much as the next man but don't understand why betting shops do well, especially relatively "well to do" ED, I bet online, by phone or whatever, I don't understand why people still use betting shops. I was walking past a betting shop with my 6 year old daughter on Sunday and she asked me what type of shop it was - I thought briefly and said - its where people go in, hand over money, try to tell the future, and if they get it right, they get some more money back. I've been having semi regular bets for years but had never really thought of it that way until then.

We love Vals store, its great but I'd like not to have to get in the car and go down to Somerfield/Sainsbury to do a mini supermarket shop.
  8. With experience of buying a property in need of work - I would not recommend this as an easy option, or even a money saving one. There is a huge hassle factor and in terms of bargaining with builders, there is only one winner. Buy a house needing work if you want to put your own stamp on it by all means, but I don't think you will necessarily enjoy the experience, although the finished product will hopefully be worthwhile, and I'd say you should only do it if you intend to stay in the property long term, and have a big budget kept back from the purchase, thus avoiding stress if things go over budget. Some good points made on trading up - certainly quantifies the cost of doing so which is very interesting.
  9. SORRY DECLAN - Yes thats right - had forgotton it was my question that remained unanswered - well done - your turn (again).
  10. aint no love in the heart of the city. Whitesnake.
  11. Yeah - but Rosie - there's no point in having the tools if you don't know how to use em,.
  12. Well done David - You are the man in the know - I'll be tracking your changes before next weeks games very closely...
  13. Oh dear Rosie H - You have made me realise I have made my wife feel butch for 15 years now. Better get down the diy classes.
  14. Can anyone comment on what Hoopers was like for the rugby? I had a couple of friends come over and we watched it in the Vale - little or no atmosphere there and especially for the ireland game, noone interested really, apart from out little group. I think the Vale is really a footie pub. Was Hoopers any better? Thanks. PS - I was going to switch to Hoopers between games, but I was not sure I was going to be able to find it in time, not having been there before, but if recommended will def go there next time. Cheers,.
  15. Amazing to think only 9 months ago Chelsea were a JT slip/width of the post, away from being Champions of Europe.
  16. actually - I can do 2,3,9 and 14. Anthing technical is her area of expertise (her father was an engineer - its in her genes).
  17. My wife does all of these things in our house - she knows asking me on most of them to be a waste of time.

  19. Villa march on.. ???? - you must be able to smell the money now? are you each way or have you laid it off on betfair at all? (it was you who had the Villa at 250/1 wasn't it?)
  20. I have PGC - 51 - tough times, an old fashioned blackwash may be on the cards again? TLS - predictably I failed to predict the punchline - very funny.
  21. cdonline Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > > I suppose it depends on why he's a Tory. If he's > an out and out fascist, I'd steer clear. Unless > he's drop dead gorgeous, then all bets are off. Good point cdonline - there is "tory" and "TORY" - if he is a decent chap then ok but right wing tory snobs can be difficult to listen to - so it deppends on people's values at the end of the day and how willing they are to listen to other peoples opinions, their view on people less well off than themselves is also important. These characteristics should be pretty clear from the start and if he's a decent sort he should have similar values in general despite having different political opinions.

Brendan. I have reviewed your sticks and imost of them are good solid sticks so i have given your bunch a AAA stick rating. Sure, some of the bunch are small and useless but who cares, put the big ones on the outside and you can get a good price for those sticks, noone will notice the little sticks on the inside. By the time your buyer discovers the little sticks, you will be long gone mate.
  23. i'm not sure about that.
  24. tinternet - must be northern - my post lost any impact with you having already posted before I even got my post in.
  25. Good point Kristymac - these days, its Notworking Class = poor. "Notworking Class" is a new class created by the current government and the US/UK banking crisis. These people have gone from Middle Class (middle income professionals) to "Notworking Class" by losing their jobs, without stopping at working class along the way. This is hero to zero territory, for those who have lost well paid jobs in the financial sector. Those who currently retain jobs in the financial or banking sector currently reside temporarily in "Shitting themselves class" from where a flight to Notworking class does not feel very far away. Niether place is a good place to be. One has no money, the other has money, but no longer feels able to enjoy/spend any of it. Its not a good time for anyone, and to be honest what class you are does not matter an awful lot, and never did.
