Unless you're a > nurse apparently. ARISE SIR HUGENOT - Well said mate - I agree wholeheartedly - I did not have a penny until i about 10 years after university and during this time I met a few nurses all of whom seemed to be earning more that me, not to mention just about everyone in the buliding trade also earning more than me too. I guess the nurses may have an issue about their top end salary but as Hugenot says their salary early in their career is nothing to moan about, especially with accommodation pension etc. I remember living in a flatshare in Finsbury Park cooking a huge chilli on Monday nights and seeing how many nights it might last me, making sandwiches for lunch etc, we have all been there.
  8. have you been fighting again Tony - how did the other chap get on?

  12. You shook me all night long - ACDC
  13. Why is it that people used to have dogs to help them feel safe - and now people don't feel safe because they have a dog. Are today's dogs a bunch of softies? Can't they look after themselves anymore, never mind protect their owners.
  14. I was jesting about the ginger bit of course. We all love redheads. To suggest one does not is worse that racism. And they have been known to get very angry occaisionally (although they can grow out of that).
  15. Ted I bet thats girls dissappointed to look in the mirror and find she has a great body (good) but ginger hair (v bad).
  16. Rosie - I hope things pick up for you and your family.
  17. Used to love the Guinness ad from the early ninties with the guy dancing round a pint of the black stuff: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3MuEtGPXLPI
  18. Spot on snorky - democracy is majority rule - therefore no one individual is likely to make significant differences - and obama is likely to be too weak a Presiden to make others tow his line. Hugenot - I agree Isreal could do a more blatent job in Palestine (god forbid) but I think Jeremey Bowen has the inside track on this and he suggested Israel will keep one eye on the international view of what they do - they are incredibly calculated in that they begin these attacks when the international community is on Christmas holiday and they work out how far they can go and for how long before the world (through a weak NATO) calls for an end to their actions. All of this is as Jeremy advises, pre determined to some extent. Basically they want to give Hammas and anyone living in palestine such a roasting that they will be incapable of provoking Israle for a long time to come - they will do this time and time again - beating Hammas down each time. This time however I think they have killed so many children that the reprisal will be huge and we are in for a bloody war. This will never end - certainly Obama is of no importance.

Matthew 123 - could not agree more - think i said something similar before too = MU play to win and they get their just rewards. Liverpool I'm afraid may throw away their best chance to win the EPL unless they become more direct, especially at home. hope liverpool can make a move on Monday night as now MU have headed them at the top, Liverpool really need to bounce back.

SimonM Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Bing Crosby, The Andrews Sisters, The Inkspots, > The Mills Brothers, Glenn Miller.... > > I think I may possibly be the winner here! :)) Possibly Simon M, you could be the winner - but I think Asset may have a claim too - taken to see Bob Marley by his parents - that is special.

  23. Simon M I'm a labour voter but I'm glad Scargill lost that battle. Thatcher killed the coal industry, but I think the coal industry was just the front window for the defeat of the unions - the unions crippled britain and made it uncompetitive. thatcher was dishonest as you point out but she knew she had to win this one. People need however to be mobile - the mines when they were needed as part of the fabric of british life attracted huge amounts of people and when the mines closed down, albeit abruptly, people needed to be able to move, to follow the next opportunity and therefore the populations of these mining areas have reduced, as did the shipbuilders before them. BTW one of my favourite films is Brassed Off which helps show the troubles the coal industry underwent during this change. here's Tara Fitzgerald and Ewan McGregor http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=C8uoY9e5YVY&feature=related
