  1. It is appalling they can just expect to get away with it. I wrote to my councillor about it a while back to object!

  3. Christmas Eve childrens Christingle service at St Johns
  4. Nero Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Err, I don;t quite get the library story. What > exactly is happening? nero There is an article in Southwark News, headed "library proposal" and a councillor welcoming some developers offer of a new library (and 22 flats) and saying a garden centre is not needed! Planning permission being sought at present.

I don't like driving a long way to huge places. I'm sure the council's enthusiasm for the plan IS to do with the free library building and then they can sell off the old site. Wish I'd kept the paper to see which councillor it was waxing lyrical. Seems a bit odd, a councillor in the paper singing the praises of a case that's currently going through planning.
  7. Mark Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I hear they have planning permission for 48 flats > there, but I agree yes, a garden centre is better The article was about an application for planning persmission for 22 flats with the sweetener of a library below
  8. Where I work, 22 schools had their lead flashing pinched in one week. Neighbours just assume it's legitimate contractors doing maintenance.
  9. I got 4 missed delivery cards and arranged online for redelivery Thursday, but noone turned up and when I called to complain, asking Royal Mail whether it really meant anything when a mail arrived confirming a redelivery date, she said "No, not really!"
  10. There is an article about this in Southwark News, headed "library proposal" and a councillor welcoming the developers offer of a new library (and 22 flats) and saying a garden centre is not needed!

  12. It's an offence not to stop, suggest you advise the police.
  13. The traffic wardens just engage themselves in the more socially useful practice of lurking in doorways until the parking restrictions come into force on Lordship Lane and pouncing on those stuck in the Somerfield checkout queue! Perish the thought anyone might suggest they divert their attention to where inconsiderate parking is actual a danger, eh?
  14. I can't post in the main forum today
  15. "Academies are privately sponsored state schools which are run outside of local authority control. They are new schools set up to replace the failing ones; the government puts in up to ?30m to build the school and the sponsor donates ?2m, then is granted control of the school's governing body." http://education.guardian.co.uk/newschools/story/0,,1568357,00.html Harris academies are sponsored by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_Harris_of_Peckham and a whole bundle of schools make up http://www.harrisfederation.org.uk/ There is a lot of opposition to academies due to their undemocratic nature.
  16. I had two separate parcels go missing AFTER cards were left for me saying they'd been taken back to the sorting office. They were never seen again!
  17. The service has always been prety rubbish, IMO. It's overpriced. Even when the owner is in the service is lack lustre. I'm a Jacks fan!
  18. It would be a good to have an East Dulwich Kids section.

I agree with most of this, and have been put off posting really, as the tone of the forum is so smug and cliquey. Some people seem to have to chip in with off-topic one-liners on every thread, and it's very offputting.
