  1. Hi, people react to pregnancy hormones differently so whilst some have problems in the first trimester, for others it can happen later. If you do a search on mumsnet you will find many others going through similar. Well done for contacting your GP & Brierly.
  2. Hi MrsS, I had this in the first trimester, it was awful. Hormones play a big part. It will pass, but do find support as others have said. As a pregnant woman I think you can be fast tracked by the GP for counselling etc if you need it. I also found things like yoga, medititation, keeping a diary helped. PM me if you want to talk.
  3. Hi I can recommend Elliot Webb, he works from an office in Holborn but lives in ED and is happy to meet locally. 07968 245216 [email protected]
  4. I can't put into words how much I admire this guy. He is clearly a great father to his boy and my heart goes out to them.
  5. Hi, there is a free evening one called Cooking with Scissors last Weds of every month, I haven't been yet but keep meaning to. If you are a mum there is Mums in Business. I think there is a breakfast one in Peckham run by a national group but it's quite expensive to join.
  6. Get in the queue before 10.15 and you should be fine to get tickets for either the first (10.45) or second (11.30) sessions. The cafe opens earlier than the museum so you can always get a takeaway coffee for while you wait!
  7. This is really common, my daughter went to nursery at 9 months and dropped her morning nap there soon after, but would still always have it at home until about 18 months! They are just excited about all the activity and don't want to miss out. I think it's best to accept that things will be different on nursery days.
  8. If he is waking for milk you could try not offering it until an hour after he wakes up - just comfort him during this time. After a couple of nights he should wake up later then you can repeat the process.
  9. I went back to the same profession but freelance, which is great as means I have more flexibility (though there are downsides too). Quite a few mums seem to take this route.
  10. Hi Strawbs, just to say that I was told Calpol, rather than Nurofen for chickenpox (no idea why though) and also to get any spots on/near eyes checked.
  11. Hi, no you just turn up, and pay at the main reception. We have never not got in!
  12. Its fine to take the Bee on a plane! You can check it in with baggage if you want, and carry your baby around until you get on the plane, or you can take it to the gate and fold it up and hand it over when you board. Bear in mind that if taking to the gate, you often have to fold the buggy up at security and put it through the scanner.
  13. I think I read somewhere that they are the same, just with different branding. I may be wrong though! Aptimal does seem to be marketed quite strongly at mums who are mixed feeding, or who wanted to breastfeed but it didn't work out.
  14. SW - I struggled for a while when I went back, and had not even been out of the workforce for a year! Just found it really hard juggling everything. Everyone's different. You will adjust though in time, and then you can start enjoying it!
  15. Just an update to say that I agree with Saffron about the car seat position. A couple of weeks ago we hired a car abroad, in the seat provided our toddler was in an almost horizontal position, and not one incidence of car sickness despite very winding mountain roads!
  16. Will watch this thread will interest as we have the same problem! Something which seems to work is holding her head steady for braking / gear changes as any slight forward & back head motion seems to set it off. Sounds a bit strange but it works. Also timing big drives for when she is asleep and def no milk before the journey.
  17. We had two free morning ones and then the option to pay for extra.
  18. I'm surprised - thought all nurseries provided cooked meals. My daughter is at My Favourite Nursery and they provide cooked lunch every day as well as other meals & snacks.
  19. I agree your rate definitely needs to be higher than a permanent rate so that you can cover your tax and benefits. There are different ways of setting up as a freelancer so you should take advice on this - I have set up my own company employing just me, that means I would be able to claim some statutory benefits, as I understand it that would include the ?500ish per month SMP. Freelancing is working for me but there has been a lot to learn on the admin side!
  20. I agree that cars very often speed through the zebras on EDG. Yet, further up the road is a traffic island where drivers will often stop to let me cross - even though they don't have to! So there must be other factors involved - visibility at the zebras? I think light controlled crossings (like the ones on LL) would be better.
  21. Hi Lucy, so hard to remember, but I think I offered milk feeds an hour after food, and in between meals as well. Something like, early morning milk, breakfast at 8, milk at 9 & 11, lunch at 12, milk at 1 & 3, tea at 5, milk in the evening & during the night.
  22. My partner really did not want to go, had to drag him along, tbh was one of the reasons we chose the nhs classes as only 3 sessions whereas nct I think is more! It's important that your partner is informed tho if he will be the one supporting you at the birth. My baby arrived at 38 weeks so, I reckon don't leave it too late.
