"New" bus routes starting 15th June
sally buying replied to Zig-Zag's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The number 12 from Oxford Circus to Peckham route has always been known as the charity bus because nobody checks in and the bus is never checked -
Brown bin collection - Council starting to charge?
sally buying replied to slarti b's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I am sure this has been asked before, why has the garden waste and food waste now been separated into 2 items requiring collection, 3 if you include brown bags. Surely they all end up in the same compost heap just like a compost heap in ones garden. Apart from screwing money from residents did the old system not work? How many vehicles will be used by Southwark to collect all this? -

Brown bin collection - Council starting to charge?

singalto Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > As the trucks will still have to go up and down > roads to empty the brown bins people have paid > for, how does this save money? Will the same truck > empty the caddies? It makes no sense to me. There could now be 5 trucks. one for blue, one for green, one for brown and one for the caddy and another if you have to arrange collection for the brown bags. All Southwark can see is how much money they can gouge from residents. No policy is ever thought through. What is the old saying if it works why change it. -
Brown bin collection - Council starting to charge?

Shows what a shambles Southwark is if the boss states one thing and the workers have no idea. Made up on the hoof. -
Very much like your pro cycle anti motor car anything view. Not sure what other posters think but I really do think you should take a break from the forum. No matter what people post you always have to have a comment. The rendelharris view of course. It really gets very boring and I am sure puts people of from posting. Plenty of ammo there to reply. I wont be

Go on to the Southwark web site and and click on Champion Hill ? ?No entry? trial? Summary of informal consultation and next steps click on to this and see the photo Southwark has used and see how Champion Hill is for most of the day outside of the brief early morning rush hour. There was never any need to close it. If people cannot feel safe with this there has to be a problem.

Zip Car and DriveNow have a contract with Southwark Council and they have purchased virtual permits for their vehicle fleet which allows them to park in any permitted parking bay in Southwark. Kind regards Joanna Redshaw

Before you spend a lot of time and money below is our experience with the same sort of incident. Posted by sally buying 18 April, 2017 18:14 "I do hope you have more success with this than we did. My daughter's dog was savaged by an off the lead and with no collar pitbull just recently and sustained extensive wounds. Just loose on the street. Despite many witnesses and people who could identify the owners, even to the extent of giving their address as they were known locally the police did not want to know. Putting up any excuse to not take the matter forward. Despite writing to say this is wrong they have closed the case and will not take it further. The veterinary fees were very high and who has to bear this, the owners, not the could not care less dog owners who caused these injuries. I wish you luck but do not hold your breath." Expensive legal fees to get zero.

How many other private deals with Southwark have been made that residents have no idea of, which means when Southwark offer up a consultation it has to meet and consider conditions that have agreed before hand without anybody/residents being aware off. Situation to consider as listed above Zipcar need a depot/area to consolidate cars, they have a permit, park all these cars in one street/s legally according to Southwark, what do residents do? As a resident and Council Tax payer I would like to know what else is out there that we do not know about and could effect my existence.
-
Also, although the CPZ went live on the 17th, a traffic warden told us that they will not be enforcing fines for the next 2 weeks to allow people to be aware. Only handing out warning notices regarding the CPZ. Joke Also why did we/residents have to purchase a permit by the 17th `December and they allow the above. If what the Council people told me pay and park is only ?2.70 an hour. That will really deter people. In effect all day parking for ?5.40 a day. Residents will not be any better off. Our road yesterday was no different, jammed packed all day. Go away and your parking space has gone until 11pm the next morning. It is interesting that when these points where put to the Council they never reply. In fact Matthew Hill who I believe was responsible for the CPZ has left the Council. Well and truly legged over.
-
It starts on the 17th December 2018. What we have found by looking at the covered signs is the revelation that if you were expecting a CPZ between the hours of 11-1, whereby cars have to remove themselves discouraging commuters etc, in our neck of the woods the signs show park and pay for the above hours. This is on a road with parking problems due to all the surround roads being all day parking pushing cars onto our road. Nothing will change you will still not be able to find parking if you leave your house/road parking space and you will have to pay for annual parking. The only winner will be Southwark who will rake money in on fixed costs from residents. We did ask how do you know if people have paid either for resident parking or paid parking now that everything is electronic and no permits are showing, the answer we are using hand held computers. So every day will Southwark patrol the all streets between the above hours to find who has not paid or do not have a permit. As a resident you will not be able to see and report. I dont think so. More yellow lines mean less parking.

No buses running through lordship lane
sally buying replied to sweetgirl's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Does that mean LL will be open during the day as works start from tomorrow evening lasting 2 nights? Are there any buses using LL during the day now -
I have not seen any notices relating to this anywhere. So Southwark will be hoping that most people will be unaware this is taking place. Getting the normal "save the planet objectors" to object and using their vote to push it though on a % basis. Any long term residents will know how important this through route is. It has been in existence and proved to be the right ever since the roads were laid down. Accept that Southwark wants cars off the road and will do anything to achieve this. I came down the Grove Hill road, Bromar Road route today and got stuck as traffic could not move. When all traffic is forced into this route it will be impossible Crazy.
-
So living at the bottom of Grove Park if I want to get to Casino Avenue, Sunray Avenue, Herne Hill etc due to the banned right turn from Grove Hill Road into Grove Lane traffic will be displaced onto the surrounding roads of Bromar Road, Ivanhoe Road, and Pytchley Road to access Dog Kennel Hill/Grove Lane. Then all the way down to Denmark Hill and up again towards Herne Hill. Instead of just going over to Champion Hill and right down Champion Hill. Why do Southwark always want to change what works and has always worked. Same thought pattern that kept Camberwell Grove closed for so long and push traffic around residential roads.

Over the past few weeks it did not seem to bother the powers that be to close that part of the road. -
Southwark car plan for the Borough
sally buying replied to spider69's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Southwark's plans combined with Khans plan for motor vehicles within the N/S circular roads will insure that only the well off will be able to own a motor vehicle to meet all the charges.
