I never go to the Plough Sainsbury as a destination shop, but on my way back from somewhere in the car. If I have to walk 100 yards as you put it I will stop at Dog Kennel Hill and park there and walk into that store. If I'm at home I'll walk to the local shop.
  2. It would seem a bit short sighted as most times I shop there I park outside.. always legally before someone gets the wrong idea. No parky, no shoppy.
  3. Overground from Forest Hill to Shadwell, change to DLR. Easy enough if you can do a set of stairs, I do it once a month but admittedly only with a carry on case.
  4. Appears to be different people. Also I can't see any change to stop people getting wet but maybe that wasn't so important after all..

  6. I travel every other week so potentially interested. The big question is how far away the car would be from the terminal. "Just outside" seems optimistic for London but maybe you have a plan.

  8. A few years ago I went to a tea tasting masterclass in Spitalfields - http://www.teasmith.co.uk/masterclass.php - if you're into it it's an evening well spent (although I was quite tea'd out by the end of the evening).
  9. Vodafone.
  10. Where it often goes wrong in a caff is when the bag is the mug with milk already introduced. Tea is made by steeping the leaves in water, not milk, the taste is fundamentally different.

  12. You know when this thread really works? When politics are never mentioned. I'm sure someone will want the last word but if James Renata etc could try to not have digs in their answers at each other or even mention party policy, and everyone else resisted temptation likewise, this can be a great example to the world of engagement in action as it has been on many occasions. If we need a hustings thread, keep it separate. Sorry to come across as a bit precious but I genuinely think this thread is a really, really positive thing and it saddens me when it gets dragged off track.
  13. People on the tube with rucksacks on their back.
  14. Assumptions. And people. That kinda covers it I think.
  15. People who assume based on nothing that I don't ask people to turn the sound off on their phone.
  16. DuncanW Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Why was she calling the police anyway? > Had a crime been committed? I'd guess becasue someone who had (in her view) caused an accident which was going to cause financial loss was saying they were just going to leave it and walk away and not pay, and she wanted help to resolve it. In addition the OP says she was cut, bruised, and pretty shaken so calling the police seems not unreasonable to me. Once he did run off then the crime is potentially Failing to stop / report an accident although I'm not sure if it could be brought to bear against a skateboarder.
  17. All we know for facts is the scooter was behind the skateboard, could have been in the middle of the lane and not directly behind preparing to overtake, anything really. We then know the skateboard "flipped", so could have gone directly backward, sideways, or at any angle between them. We also know the skateboarder wasn't in control of the board. Not long ago there was a phase when I went past a lad every day, presumably on his way to school, on a unicycle. The situation described by the OP was one I dreaded every day and I sympathise with the scooter rider.
  18. I've had similar experience in the past with uninsured road users. Should such an incident happen again I'll be taking their photo. Hope she's OK.

  20. "but I also look at more intangible, less obvious clues such as whether Ocado will deliver or if a Waitrose is opening up nearby.? Brilliant insight there.
