  1. Well, that will explain why I thought I saw a peacock on the roof of a house in Crescent Wood Road about a year ago - everyone I told thought that I had been drinking and was having hallucinations - but now I see this woman kept peacocks.
  2. Closed some weeks ago unfortunately - bailiffs notice on the door.
  3. Thanks for the tip Giggirl - you have just made one dejected Springsteen fan very happy!
  4. There is a sign on their door giving contact details of their "head office"
  5. Last Orders was filmed around Bellenden Road
  6. Travelex have good rates and you can book it in advance online and just pick it up at the airport
  7. Yes it does foreign currency - the first window is dedicated to it and supposedly you can just walk up to it and ignore the queue (although I always feel guilty about doing that!) The one on Rye Lane also does currency.
  8. Mr Sparkes told me last week that he is hoping to get a bigger unit (still mobile and non NCR) so that he can display more stock very soon. Never had any cause for complaint regarding meat or service from him. Have been to WR a few times but rate Sparkes higher.
  9. Unfortunately Tina appears to have closed down - saw a bailiffs notice in the window a couple of weeks back.
  10. AJ Farmers definitely have timers - got a couple there yesterday
  11. Whereabouts on Oglander was it - I live on Oglander but my cats are tabbies so it does not sound like it was either of them but concerned that it might be my friends cat - was it at the Grove Vale End, the middle or nearer to the Maxted Road end?
  12. The land registry title would not specify the building that was on the land. The title is to the land itself. However, if a property is converted into flats and the flats are sold then each flat would get a separate leasehold title but the freehold title would remain (with the leases noted on it). If the flats are just being rented out and have never been sold since the conversion then there would be no separate leasehold titles and therefore no note on the freehold title so you would get no clue from the title that the building had been converted into flats.

    Energy Bills

I'm with Scottish Power and my bill is much higher than that for gas and electricity - albeit for a bigger (5 bed)property - they have also justincreased my monthly payment by about ?30 per month. I was so incensed that I went straight online to try and find a cheaper supplier - but I couldn't find anyone cheaper than Scottish Power ( a am on their hydro - green tariff by the way)
  14. Maybe the Peckham Rye pooer was the same person who relieved himself on our office doorstep on Monday morning - no-one was caught in the act but a steaming pile was deposited sometime between 9 - 9.30 am - he chose a pretty public spot because we are right on Rye Lane not hidden round a corner!
  15. I think I paid quite a bit more than that!
  16. Bignumber5 - I would just go for the orthotic inserts rather than having shoes made especially for you, OH had shoes made at Merrifields then decided he didn't really like them- a very expensive mistake! I have the inserts (though I got mine from the podiatrist at the Crystal Palace Sports Injury clinic - rather than from Merrifields) and they are great.
  17. Sounds like you got caught out by this http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,127870,127880#msg-127880
  18. Depends what part of islington - you could always get the Northern Line to Moorgate and then the train to Essex Road or Highbury and Islington - easy interchange from the Northern Line and empty trains going out of Moorgate in the morning so guaranteed a seat takes about 45 mins
  19. Don't start feeding them until they have set their first truss - ie after the bottom set of flowers have fallen off to reveal tiny green tomatoes - otherwise you will just get lots of lush leaf growth and not much in the way of tomatoes. You also need to pinch out the side shoots (except if they are bush tomatoes) - do you know what varieties you have got?
  20. It is becoming an Indian restaurant called Jaflong - apparently the food will be a bit different from the other offerings on Lordship Lane
  21. I was told by one of the guys who had taken it over that they were hoping to open in May (this was about 2 weeks ago) - so not long to wait - I told him to post on the forum when he had an opening date - don't know whether he will
  22. You need to go past the pub onto Copeland Road - take the first right after the zebra crossing then the first right again and at the end of that road you join Heaton Road and approach the traffic lights from the other direction - basically you just have to drive round in a small circle!
  23. I work right next to this junction - there are no entry signs on the right hand and left hand pavements and a big sign painted on the road saying buses only - they are not trying to disguise the fact that you are not allowed to drive along that section of road!!
  24. Am I missing something - the only other David Sheppard I know is the one who was Bishop Of Liverpool?
  25. I have two daughters currently in year nine and we are certainly very happy with the school - there is a good mix of kids - and all of them are local which means that they don't have to travel miles to meet up with their friends. Dave Sheppard who was the acting head has just been confirmed in the position full time which is great as he seems very hot on discipline. Our girls are cetainly thriving there.
