For your info I don't watch Jeremy Kyle, but you must do I guess. I don't overlook everything at all, sure he did some weird shit, but I loved the music. End of story, didn't say I approved of his weirdness by the way, or did you choose to ignore that part. FFS!
  5. Despite his obvious eccentricities, probably due to the fact that hid dad treated him very badly and physically and menatlly abused him, he was a musical great, I loved his music both as a solo artist and with the J5. May your god go with you Michael, at least now he can get some peace.
  6. REsearch into what makes a top class footballer is clearly very valuable and groundbreaking, especially when it comes up with words of wisdom such as these taken from this mornings Metro. The key to becoming a top class fotballer is not training but talent, it has been found. Physical conditioning had little to do with pitch performance when a group of semi professioanl football players were put through "skill" tests by scientists. "Plenty of people are as tall as Ronaldo and, if they are in good condition, can run as fast and jump as high - but are not necessarily as good at football", said a spokesman for the university of Queensland which carried out the research. Well fcuk me ragged, no shit sherlock? You mean you have to have talent to be a top footballer, well what happened with Robbie Savage, Emile Heskey, and Titus Bramble, how did they slip through the net?

  8. In fairness to Owen, a player I've always had a great deal of time for, I'm not sure his departure from Pool is as straight forward as suggested by Matthew123. For what it's worth I'd have him on a pay as you play basis, I think he's still got something to offer.
  9. It was inevitable that Ronaldo would follow Kaka to Real Madrid. Everbody knows that a Brazilian is followed by an irritating c**t.
  10. Huguenot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > To pay respect to Atila, who is carrying offence > like a rucksack, I was only trying to point out > that majority doesn't confer quality of thought... And I agree, please re read my post. As for carrying offence around like a rucksak, why is it that when anyone has the audacity to challenge a view on this Forum they get accussed of taking offence too easily? The pompous attitude taken by yourslef suggesting that the general piblic can't be trusted to make decisons or to have a view of worth is what really troubles me more than anything. It suggests that the author of such statements has an intellecect and thought process far superior to anybody else. That's my problem. AS for the Elgin Marbles, sure give them back. But where do you draw the line. The British museum, and many other museums throughout the globe, would soon empty out if we take this view.

Whilst I'm not > suggesting there should be some intellectual elite > that governs a society's moral compass it is silly > to suggest we should have the opposite. Who said I'm advocating the herd mentality? I'm simply asking why the general publics view can't be trusted if it flies in the face of your or anybody elses view. And I did say, just in case you didn't bother to read my post in full, that while majority rule is what modern society is based on, it doesn't mean the majority view is always right. I just don't like the superior tone of the original posting which seemed to suggest that the rest of shouldn't be allowed a view or an opinion, how dangerous is that? Wasn't there a nasty litlle man called Adolf who used to think like that.

And the Egyptians can't > have any of their stuff back either. Frankly that's a rubbish response, and quite frankly childish. My point is that to say that general public can't be trusted, and remember you are one of this number, is very patronising, and reminds me of my old school masters constantly telling us they knew best.

Are you saying that because the general public believe in capital punishment, and presumably you don't, they can't be trusted because their view doesn't square with your own? So presumably then, any majority view that flies in the face of your beliefs should be viewed with suspicion and even mistrust? I thought majority rule was what modern society was based on, doesn't make it right, but hey ho.
  14. I'd have Owen at our place on a freebie, his record since leaving Real hasn't been great but if he's fit I think he's got something to give. And while at Real he did do too badly did he, even if he did start mostly on the bench.

I simply said be careful where and when you say such things, that's not a threat, I'm simply telling you that people, on both sides of the divide, are very touchy about this issue. How is that a threat? My god aren't you the sensitive one.

If I were you I'd be careful where and when you say things like this, I don't give a monkeys as I was born here but I think you'll find a lot of Turkish Cypriots might take a very strong dislike to your words. If these words aren't meant to try and incite anger and rage, then I don't what is. Your statement is far from accurate whatever slant you put on it and could be viewed and designed to stir up racial hatred.

Dreadfully sorry to disappoint my old Rugby chum, born and bred in London, grew up in North London, and moved to Sarf London in the early 60's. Oh and by the way, just to educate you old boy, Cyprus is an island inhabitated by Turkish & Greek Cypriots.

As for being a Spurs fan it could be worse, I could wake up one morning thinking I've woken after a bad dream only to find that I come from Coventry but support Man Ure.
  21. Hang on, I thought you said adios to the forum! I'm glad you are still around SP it means I've got someone to wind up on a regular basis
  22. I used to be a regular in the Clock for over 20 years until the present landlord took over, what a tool he is. Peter and Frances Key ran the place for many a year and had two sons Toby and Miles, both arrogant as feck. Frances thought she was lady muck and Peter was always maoning about how little money he made from the pub game but managed to buy and house in Chichester a boat and seemed to be on holiday every other week. The place used to have agreat atmosphere in spite of mine host being up himself and I spent many a new years eve/day drinking and carousing until 4 or 5 in the morning. I was at the leaving do for Peter and fRances and saw many punters who had been banished to the Herne and the like and hadn't been seen for many a year and haven't been seen in there since.

This is the sort of qoute that brings a smile to my face, how many high profile players have made similar statements over the years only to move on shortly afterwards. Loyalty from players? Lets be honest/realistic, it doesn't exist.
