  1. No, the new kid on the block is difficult to navigate around, does not seem to be joined up and IMO is a rubbish site, I won't be using it for one. ps Dulwich does not need another site, it has two already, East and West. And what was the point of creating a Dulwich site, oh, I'm taking my ball with me because I can't play with you. REALLY.
  2. Agreed, nuff said Admin.
  3. OK, so there's a new kid on the block, BUT lets be honest the East Dulwich Forum is the original, best and has most activity on a day to day basis in comparison to any other local forum. Admin - you do a great job and thanks for maintaining and keeping this forum running so successfully, which is at the centre of the local community.
  4. With all the bits of information add in it brings back memories of how it used to be. Believe one off Licence was Gallions and the other Unwins with W.Uden the undertakers one door away and a workshop making coffins round the back.
  5. And I can't wait till she and co try it on the supposed injunction on Southwark Council and finally get totally lambasted, booted and laughed out of court.
  6. Forgot to ask, have you taken out an injunction or judicial review against Southwark Council or when is this going to happen?
  7. "Show me one post where someone - anyone - has explicitly encouraged the unrestrained destruction of nature." But some of you seem to support some destruction of nature for new burial plots, and that is where we respectfully differ." Totally agree with Joeleg above. I do not support the unwarranted destruction of nature BUT the use of cemeteries IS to bury the deceased (and which is what the land was intended to be used for) and it is how this society has and continues to (apart from cremation) the internment of the deceased into their final resting place. In the cemetery I saw a beautiful robin on a headstone and then further down a pair of ducks actually a duck and a drake just sitting on teh grass in front of a row of graves enjoying the peacefulness and solitude in the cemetery, till they decided to take flight, it was lovely to see. And before I get jumped on with the moulding over or digging up remains after 75 years argument, part of the problem is the vast number of graves that are no longer attended by families, because they themselves may have passed away and no one is their in the family to tend the graves, or they have become to infirm to get to the grave to maintain it. I saw that myself, in a cemetery at the other end of the borough. The councils responsibility is to maintain the environment within the cemetery which I see as generally cutting the grass, wholescale laying of weed killer and digging and filling in graves following the internment plus anything mourners ask them to do post burial. In this respect the council have been negligent but are now correcting the error of their ways and in so doing are finding graves that had been covered by scrub. Surely this is a good thing to be happening so they can hopefully be cross checked with the cemetery records.

Feels like they want to take the country back a few decades and bust the country as a result. Some people will be taken in by all Corbyn wants to achieve but ignore the even greater debt that will result. but by then they would have become ousted and someone else will have to clear up his mess. By then he'll be long gone.
  9. The only other place I can think of is the junction of Westwood Park and Horniman Drive
  10. And you'll find that surprisingly weeds still grow in them as I saw the other day in someones front garden you had laid a plastic lawn. hope this helps.
  11. Perhaps they'll do a sketch of, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Put in whoever you think best fits each of the parts.
  12. From looking at rightmove you'll see that generally estate agents have been over valuing house prices which is now resulting in sellers having to reduce their asking price by ?50K+ so agents can hopefully get viewings, offers and sales. This over valuation has potentially slowed the market in comparison to probably 12 months ago. Some agents say that the imminent election will impact and further slow the market down, whilst others seem to think the election and its outcome will have little or no impact on house sales. If you're selling make sure you go with an agent who can actively market your property at a price that is going to attract offers and conversely if you'r a buyer and you see a property you like, don't be afraid to put in an offer even if it is a bot below the asking price. as is said, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
  13. I believe there used to be a hardware store where the men's barbers is on Forest Hill Road, think it may have been called Chessells.
  14. "Under the Faculty Jurisdiction Rules 2015, a faculty is not required for the felling of a tree where the diameter of any stem of does not exceed 75 millimetres (measured over the bark at height of 1.5m above ground level). By a letter dated 22 December 2015, the Head of Parks and Leisure of the Borough sought advice as to whether it would be possible to clear the scrub from Area Z without a faculty on the basis that any tree that was removed was less than these dimensions. The Chancellor replied on 11 January 2016 referring the Borough to the provisions of the Faculty Jurisdiction Rules. In the light of this guidance, Southwark LBC began works to clear the scrub from Area Z. Ms Cameron subsequently submitted ?what was, in effect, an application for an injunction, setting out her belief that Southwark LBC were illegally felling trees? [19]. The application was dismissed. Citing In re Welford Road Cemetery [2007] Fam 15 the Chancellor stated: ?If there is no substantive power to order the restoration of works in respect of a cemetery, it is apparent that there can be no power to issue an injunction to prevent any such works in the first place. Against this background, I declined to take any action upon Ms Cameron?s application and, in the event, the scrub was largely cleared from Area Z. I have however no reason to think that this work did require consent by faculty.? [19]." Based on the above are you sure you want to attempt seeking an injunction or judicial review?
  15. - the butchers shop with sawdust on the floor on Forest Hill Road (along where Beauty Plus is) Was it Linghams and the bakers which followed
  16. OK go for an injunction against Southwark Council, but as has been explained above very elegantly by posters, their appears to be a difference between how foccssw interpret the documentation and how an "average joe" interprets what it says. So go take some legal advice and try and get an injunction. Will be waiting expectantly to hear the outcome of the attempt.
  17. When you went into Osgoods the sweet shop on Forest Hill Road, then next door into the dairy shop, the greengrocers where the Turkish supermarket is now and the little bakers (was part of a local chain of bakers) just slightly further down from what used to be the doctors surgery upstairs.
  18. Penguin68 - fab posting, totally sinks foccssw posting/statement.
  19. I saw my first one in ED this morning at the traffic lights by Whatley road, they are really neat, I want one!!!!
  20. Are you sure relatives heard first through your group, if you look closely at the various entrances to the cemeteries there are and have been notices from the Council about affected graves and I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) asking families to contact the Council, these notices have been in place for at least twelve months.
  21. Well that's a first, an actual response, now maybe you'll start to engage in debate. And why the need to use such emotive language? Destroying family memorials, how will this happen, be done? What will happen to the memorials you say will be destroyed? Digging up the dead, so what are the council doing to any remains they find after 75 years? Are these graves maintained by anyone? As has been explained umpteen times there are no woods in the cemetery, what does exist is over grown scrubland which the council Neglected and so graves subsequently became overgrown. This work is identifying those graves which I would hope are being recorded and cross checked with the cemetery records. It is not a natural place, it is an overgrown wilderness that the council are now putting right due to their lack of any maintenance, surely that is a good thing. The cemetery is not full, would you rather this work proceeded or Honor Oak Rec was used sooner than the council anticipate its use, (and btw Honor Oak rec was purchased always for the purpose of burials). It gets better, really it does!!!!!!! FOCC are now calling for an inquiry into, and get this, racial discrimination in Southwark's burial service and they go on to file a complaint because they were accused of lying by a Councillor. Oh the irony of all of this, you really couldn't make it up, even if you wanted too.
  22. Stops Klitschko in 11th, who'd have guessed three knockdown's and a stoppage. WOW
  23. Those taking the life of another are simply the lowest of the low, scum. They have no idea nor care about the consequences of their actions as they lash out, and the long term hurt and pain the relatives suffer as a result of losing a family member in such a callous and senseless manner.
  24. yep that's why I said sensible and not indiscriminate as thought it would not take long to get picked up for the mention of stop and search.
  25. Dulwich Fox - I agree with what you say here "The Law has to be made clear. If you are caught carrying a Knife. You will be put away. Currently there is NO deterrent. The types of Knives being carried are not for sharpening your pencil. There are some serious weapons being carried around. Machettes .. Combat Knives. We have to stop these knives being on sale. and close down Websites that sell them." However what is additionally needed is the Sensible use of stop and search, not indiscriminate stop and search with much harsher sentences for possession and use of any offensive weapon.
