Is the corona virus becoming a pandemic? Discuss

Does your utopia include nothing moving faster than 5mph and the increased pollution that will be created through back logging of traffic@? Get Real
-
Were is your evidence that "Most people in Southwark don't own a car", because there seem to be lots of cars parked on Southwark roads, unless you are seeing some type of utopia. This nonsense of driving at 20mph actually creates more pollution and is potentially dangerous. Gridlocks of traffic will create more, not less pollution. rahrahrah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > We always hear these arguements whenever anyone > suggests measures to tackle issues with motor > traffic. From what has been stated so far it appears to be TfL monies, not Southwark Council monies.

Car windows smashed on Oglander Road
dbboy replied to twinhunters's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Are these windscreens or side windows that are being smashed? What is being used to break the window's, brick's or some other object/method? -
You could argue, that All schools contribute to creating additional traffic and parking issues at school run/drop off times with so many children being driven to school, combined with the rush hour.

It's a bit rich saying that if you speak in your own language in those flat's,you should go back to where you came from, because and this is the important thing, whoever wrote that poster needs to go back to school and do their English Language GCSE, which they clearly failed first time or never took. Interesting information about how trams used to run across London including up/down Dog kennel Hill, see link below. https://londonmodeltramways.webs.com/dogkennelhillhistory.htm https://londonmodeltramways.webs.com/dogkennelhillmodel.htm https://www.google.com/search?q=trams+dog+kennel+hill&rlz=1C1AOHY_en-GBGB708GB708&oq=trams+dog+kennel+hill&aqs=chrome..69i57j0.8367j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Does anyone have any information about where the name Dog Kennel Hill originates from?

The Law to leave the EU is agreed Negotiations for free trade deals can commence Monday Everything else with the EU remains the same for the next 11 months, i.e. free movement, healthcare, pensions for those UK citizens in EU countries - that needs to be agreed by 31st January 2021. And yes, visa's are likely to be required, as are restrictions on how many day's UK citizens can reside in the EU in any 180 day period, or people can ignore that and see what happens. What does change at 11.01pm is no MEP's, no UK judges in the EU commission, no UK European Commissioner. So let's not waste even more time going round in circles looking for every loop hole, it's a time to unite and move forward, united we stand, divided we fall.
-
Nothing changes for the next 11 months.

Wasting their time protesting against something that is in Statute, the Law.

Yes, I accept that people want to campaign for things they believe in, however nothing will change, people are wasting their time, the decision was made by a majority back in 2016. The Government have enacted that decision. I support the democratic process, only the future will see what the impact is on the citizens and the country, if the decision made at the referendum was right or wrong. No one has a crystal ball to tell what the future will be.

Can't you accept the democratic decision made by the people in 2016.

Lloyds bank east dulwich due to close......

A much more detailed posting has been made on SE23.com earlier this evening. see https://www.se23.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=14236&pid=79149#pid79149 Southwark Council Highways Department has proposed to close Cox's Walk bridge from Monday 27th January 2020 for a unspecified period due the bridge is unsafe due to the conditions of the brick abutments on the Sydenham/Dulwich wood side as the roots of the two large oaks which are over 100 years old on each side are affecting the structure. The trees was due to be felled last year, but a petition was set up to stop this happening has Southwark Council held a public consultation was over Christmas 2018 for the ?minimum legal period?; the plans for the healthy, mature oaks were not communicated to the London Wildlife Trust which the council strongly objects; and research into alternatives to felling were conducted behind closed doors, she claims. The letter went on to say: ?Everything we have suggested, from getting the advice of a specialist conservation engineer, with expertise in restoring historic structures in sensitive environments, to having a full, open consultation on alternative solutions, including re-routing the path, has been dismissed without discussion. ?Please listen to us now: put the bridge repairs on hold and conduct a full, open, public consultation on all the options. That is the way to empower communities.? If you wish to join the campaign please see links below: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/save-the-cox-s-walk-footbridge-oak-trees Please see e-mail dated 24th January 20202 from Southwark Highways below for new update on situation: Dear all I apologise for the delay in sending an update on the latest situation with the proposed works to refurbish Cox?s Walk Footbridge. As you may know, we commissioned an investigation into potential alternative construction options and are currently reviewing the results and will advise everyone as soon as possible on our proposed way forward. As most will be aware, a report prepared in 2018 demonstrated that the footbridge was in a hazardous condition, due to the potential failure of the abutments (supporting walls). A more recent inspection has also determined a further, significant safety issue with the timber parapets, which were due to be completely refurbished as part of the overall works. It was considered in 2018 that the risk to the public was relatively minor as works were planned to be carried out within 18 months. However, the deterioration in the condition of the timber parapets, in addition to the potential failure of the abutments, is such that the safety of the structure is now significantly compromised and we have no option but to close the footpath across the bridge until full repair works can be undertaken. The closure will be put in place on Monday 27th January with full diversion signage in place between Sydenham Hill and Lordship Lane. If you should have any queries on the above, please contact highways@southwark.gov.uk.

In that case please can I ask you to delete this thread so not to exacerbate the incident
-
As you say he's been kicked to the ground and punched in the head, a quick check may help him. And as he is 16, I think he may still be legally considered as a "minor", I do not know, but would think such an assault would be a higher priority to the police.
-
Really sorry to hear that such an unprovoked attack took place. I hope your son and his girl friend are ok and that his attacker is found and dealt with by the courts. Has he been to the GP to check on his injuries?

It's not gossip nor am I moaning, just stated facts.

There's been on ongoing issue with rotten food in the fruit and crates for sometime. Staff do not seem concerned unless it is pointed out. Complacency? I have also noticed an increase in the number of items where expiry dates have been exceeded by a few days while still on the shelves, but when highlighted to staff they are quick to react and appreciative.
