There is a way of defeating Momentum and that's by playing them at their own game. Since the main parties dropped their membership prices and made it easy to join and vote, entryism by extremes has become rife. Momentum started it in the Labour party with Corbyn, and with the Tories it's been ex-Ukippers, part of a 'blue wave'organised by Arron Banks and Leave.EU, to join up and try and deselect any Tory remain MPs. Lou, nothing to stop moderates doing the same, if you're retired you can join Labour for ?2.17/month and literally put your money where your mouth is and vote for the next leader. If enough people did this they would out vote Momentum's choice...

This is all reminding me of when Alex Ferguson retired, RLB is a Moyes hierarchical continuity replacement, and I only know too well how that ended. We're on replacement No. 4 at the time of writing...

A TV going on the blink would fall under normal wear and tear, and therefore nothing should be taken from the deposit to repair/replace it...

Grove boy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > They are millionaires, there's nothing false about it. I didn't say false, I said false equivalence, they're not the same thing. Typical leftie argument, their millionaires are > worse than ours, their racists are worse than our > racists,,,,,,, I'm not a 'leftie' as you put it. If you look at my posting history you will see I'm no fan of Corbyn and his cabal. You've cited Len McCluskey as a Labour millionaire, I've no idea if he is but happy to take your word on the matter. As for a Tory millionaire I'll stick with Johnson. Now you're right that's it's not false to say they are both millionaires, but that ignores the context of what I wrote, that being a reply to our resident racist who said that Labour politicians ''don't know how REAL people live''. It's a false equivalence to say that just because they are both millionaires they both know how real people live, that's simply not the case. A quick look at his bio tells me LM is the son of a painter and decorator, shop steward, union leader etc, who I'm guessing therefore has a pretty good understanding of how so called real people live and can empathise with them, whereas Johnson has had such a privileged life and is so out of touch with reality that he can't even look at the image of a 4yo boy lying on a hospital floor...

A decent landlord/lady would also tell you if a property is mortgaged, so you are aware that the property is at risk of repossesion should the mortgage not be paid. A Landlord/lady now has to give a prospective tenant a copy of this very useful How to Rent guide before any contract is signed...https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/how-to-rent

I grew up in a white working class area where many parents never worked out of choice, fiddled the leccy meter, and the postman nabbed the dole giros etc. I guess that's what you mean by REAL lives...

And WTF does Johnson and all the other millionaires in the Tory party know about REAL lives? Keep doffing your cap and tugging your forelock to your masters...

Oh FFS, pleaae make it stop, it's now The People's Government Another 3-word ditty, that's where Labour went wrong, For the Many Not the Few was Dostoevsky when they needed Jackie Collins...

dbboy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The election confirmed the voters decision of the > referendum, that they want to leave Europe. Not really, two different voting systems used, if you followed the referendum voting system that every vote counts i.e. proportional representation, you would've ended up with a very different looking parliament, as the split in the total votes cast was actually around...wait for it...52% to 48% in favour of Remain/2nd Ref partied. These numbers tie in with polls over the past 12 months or so that have consistently shown Remain in front if there was a 2nd ref. The Remain vote was split and both Labour and Lib Dems need to hold their hands up over that. Lots of headlines of a Tory landslide win but their vote only went up 1% from the last election, it was actually a Labour backslide, down 4%, which suggests that a lot of their voters didn't vote rather then switch to the Tories. Worth mentioning that the Greens got more votes than the Brexit Party, would be nice in the future if the BBC reflected this on their political panels. If there's one silver lining to be had from this election it's that Farage is never seen or heard of again...

Nicola Sturgeon...So, given the verdict of the people of Scotland last night, the Scottish Government will next week publish the detailed democratic case for a transfer of power to enable a referendum to be put beyond legal challenge. That didn't take long...

TheCat Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Not one ounce of self reflection. I don't get it The one person who needs to do this is Corbyn. But he can't even apologise, only that it's Brexit's fault and then bleats on about doubling membership. On that subject, people talking about joining up so they can influence the choice of a new leader, otherwise as things stand it will be a mini-me Corbyn voted in by Momentum. Personally I can see Keir Starmer with Jess Phillips working, appealing to a broad spectrum. Starmer was one of the few Labour front benchers to come out with any plaudits, and Phillips has shown that a Remainer can win with a comfortable majority in an area that voted Leave...

Does anyone know what happens after Jan 31st re travel to the EU? Had we Brexited on Oct 31st I'm sure Patel said that FoM would've stopped the next day. Is it just a case of queuing at the Non-EU gate while EU passport holders laugh at us as they breeze through?...

fishbiscuits Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > However, in the cold light of day, I have to admit > that even if the party had embraced a more pro-EU > stance (say, second referendum and campaign to > remain), it wouldn't have been enough. We'll never know but by doing so at least they could've formed a proper remain alliance with the other progressive parties. Kensington was just one example where the remain vote split and the Tories came through the middle. You make a good point earlier about Labour having popular policies, it's just that they took them too far, and that played into people's suspicions that Corbyn is an extremist. I don't agree with the sneery champagne socialist comments on here. Blair won by appealing to middle Englamd and the middle classes as well as it's core voters, no party can rely on it's base alone. The Tories have for some time appealed to the white working class, Essex Man, Mondeo Man, White Van Man (southern demographic) and now in this election Workington Man (northern). Not much being said about Swinson, she was clearly out of her depth and very culpable as to why we ended up with an election that didn't have to happen. They had Johnson where they wanted him, an impotent PM, who had even lost the support of the DUP, whose deal could've been amended to suit i.e. 2nd ref etc, but inexplicably gave him a lifeline...

Would anybody who has cited labour's fence-sitting on Brexit care to say what they should've done? Which ever side they fell off the fence they were going to upset the other side...
