HAL, you mean to say that you would stand and watch over your chick peas whilst they were cooking then? Come on...you soak them overnight...you stick them on the stove and you leave them to it. Whilst the cooking takes place...you can go off and do whatever you like...even have a sleep for a couple of hours...but you know that...give me a break!
  5. Never mind the excuses, is your hand raised or not, you rusty old computer?

Allows to cool. Put the toasted sesame seeds in food processor, with metal blades fitted, and add oil. (Note: one quarter cup vegetable oil to 1 cup sesame seeds). Process the mixture on a high setting for a minute, stopping to clean the sides of the food processor with a spatula from time to time. Add the rest of the oil, and continue to process the seeds to a paste, again cleaning the sides regularly and ensuring that the paste still covers the blades. Ensure that all the mix is blended to a paste. This can be a somewhat messy process but stick with it. The results will be worth it! When the mixture is evenly smooth, and further processing does not further refine the texture, transfer your tahini to a tight fitting glass jar using a flexible spatula, if you have one, to reduce waste. Tahini may be kept in the refrigerator for many weeks in a well sealed jar. Looks smug*

No 9000 computer has ever made a mistake or distorted information. We are all, by any practical definition of the words, foolproof and incapable of error." I think it's check mate OLD HAL. Time to pull the plug...LOL!!!!

Do you KNOW who Lady Katharina van der Wotsit is? And her standing? Clearly not! > Anyone who has made hummus will know that a few > millilitres of liquid can make the difference > between a firm paste and a loose slurry. My hummus never resembles slurry! And I always use fresh lemons! So there! As for garlic paste - there is no substitute for fresh garlic in my book. Ask any French chef worth his/her garlic gloves. But then, I understand you use tinned chick peas!
  9. First of all, I hope that you both (Georgia and Mr. Pallywotsitoos) enjoyed the evening: it was your night after all. I have to say that this is close to being one of my favourite EDF drinks - so well done to Sean-the-owl for arranging. As to the evening itself: one word - fabulous! I enjoyed catching up with and taking the "piss" out of many of the "old" faces. But meeting some newbies was equally pleasurable; such as Pickle, EDKiwi, PGC, Wilhelm, and last, but in no way least, fellow Man. U supporter and shining star of the evening: Narnia. PGC is spot on Narnia: you are adorable. Which reminds me, the 2012 Olympics? Nah, I was merely warming up in the event of another Midnight Race. T, although we had said hello before, it was an absolute pleasure to get to know you better - Mark is a lucky fella (hear that Mark?). My dear longstanding friend karter, I am so glad that, despite your exhausting day, you made it. It was a fantastic surprise to see both you and H, given the fact that you had said you wouldn't be coming. And how could I forget to give a special mention to my personal escort home, who ensured I was well inside the house before setting off himself to some 10 or so houses further down. Thanks Weegee. Just one hint of sadness: I was sorry to learn that you had already left by the time I arrived Mick Mac. And apologies (alas there are always apologies) to Nicky for calling you Emma and to Daizie for scoffing most of your kebab.:-$ Do pardon the verbosity, but it all needed to be said.
  10. *momentarily lets go of Her Maj's silk and taffeta train with one hand in order to stick two fingers up* (behind her Maj's back, naturally)
  11. Huguenot? Bah...just give him a slap...hang on, I'll do it... *SLAP*
  12. Oh bless you zeban...I wasn't having a go at you at all... No no no no no no... I was being facetious with the Queen...in respect of her Majesty's comment: "I absolutely agree with every word..." Nothing to do with anything YOU said...LOL! I agree with much of what you have said, bye the way. Apologies for any confusion.
  13. Pissing myself! (Sorry Chair)
  14. You alright your Maj? *applies thermometer to The Queen's forehead*
  15. Actually, the very first time I ever tasted Black Sambuca it was through the courtesy of that owl - Sean. So you can blame him! You, on the other hand are merely a bad influence on me!
  16. david_carnell Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > As this thread is about "fairness" I wonder if > your approach is fair ????. *dons Pedant's Hat* Actually, it's about "unfairness". But it's a...ahem...fair comment LOL.
  17. Oh buggars PGC. I too was awaiting the next instalment! And how come fruit flies? In so short a time and at this time of year? What a nuisance. Also, please could you tell me: could sieving do, instead of jelly-bagging? *awaits PGS's report with impatience*
  18. But there was also a serious undertone to my comment. I was referring to IDS' latest proposals of getting the unemployed to undertake tasks for around ?1 a week (plus JSA). It doesn't sit comfortably with me at all. And, as I vociferously commented upon in another thread, if the Government genuinely wishes to help the unemployed back into work by making them feel socially useful and training them etc., then fine. However, if this is about demeaning or punishing so-called scroungers or malingerers, then I am not happy about it. Just my 2 cents' worth.

  20. david_carnell Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------------- > And if you linked to that website here you'd see > it is only in rare circumstances when you exceed > your personal tax allowance due to premiums being > paid. Not unreasonable I was linked into that website - you cheeky sod! It isn't difficult to exceed one's yearly personal tax allowance - especially if in a relatively well paid job. Take the PTA for Tax Year 09/10 for example, this was ?6,475. Therefore, many people who became unemployed part-way through Tax Year 09/10 would have exceeded their PTA and therefore be liable to tax on JSA. The more they had earned, or the further down the Tax Year they had become unemployed, the more likely they would be in that situation. So hardly a rare circumstance. > Really? 1.5 hours per fortnight was too much time > where he could have been job hunting? The other > 166.5 hours proving insufficient I presume? Now you are just being flippant...or is that facetious...sarcastic even?! Other than that, I thank you for you response. And I hope that the amendments/reforms of which you speak ensure that nobody has to endure what our Mr. Jones/Smith had to go through.
  21. Do you think they'll play some reggae at the Phoenix tonight: I'm in a dancing mood.
