Goverment set for u-turn over swine flu jab
bodsier replied to TE44's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Personally I think it's good to have all the information that is available to us so that we can make informed choices. -
I agree with Saffron, it's a contradiction on both health and safety reasons. By their safety I presume it protects the staff against accusations of abuse. How can it be ok for them to allow A parent to change the child. My understanding is that the school should notify the parent that an accident has occurred, and the parent consent to their child being changed or something along those lines.

Agree with Otta, I think money saved by getting married abroad is an expense passed onto their guests. Sometimes that could mean missing a good friends wedding simply because you cant afford the time/money or both. I am attending a wedding in france this year, and will be going alone because the costs were too high. I guess these things are weighed up and weddings abroad can cut out the people you don't really want there but also the people that you do. If lots of notice is given for weddings abroad that can work as guests have time to prepare, its a bit annoying to receive an invite for a wedding abroad 3/4 months before the date...

Air pollution harming schoolchildren
bodsier replied to Inthepink's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Not dismissing the idea myself, I haven't done my research on suggested ideas so wouldn't dream of it. One of the factors brought to my attention when choosing schools was their close proximity to main roads and phone masts.... like I said, a whole can of worms... -
Air pollution harming schoolchildren
bodsier replied to Inthepink's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Ah this is an interesting one, 'temporarily renting' accommodation near a preferred school then moving back to a more affordable area further away would inevitably give rise to having to drive your child into school would it not? I fear this petition could open up a can of worms...... -
Cherry Tree Montessori on Lacon Road PLEASE HELP
bodsier replied to Silvia78's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Deniseb, I may not have commented on this thread, but comments i have made about cherry tree on other threads I can assure you are from first hand experience, not spitefulness. Sure your experience may be different, also what you want from a nursery may be different. Academically I think it probably scores high because they place such an emphasis on education. -
Hi I have worked with a client who had severe period paims for many years. She was off sick from work every month due to perioid pains. Reflexology really helped her, she no longer suffered with this problem. She had fibroids. I am trained in gynaecological and spinal problems.

I'm really bored, can someone start a heated debate please
bodsier replied to Otta's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Aren't you bored with talking about children and families? Perhaps the drawing room is a better place to start if you find this section a bit ....well dull? -

|What works for myself and my son is to help him to label his feelings before it gets to the hitting, throwing stage. I usually get down to his level and say things like 'does that make you feel angry/frustrated whatever the feeling is, and it immediately calms him down enough to talk about his feelings before he fully explodes. It seems to stop him in his tracks because he feels as though he is being listened to. It seems to calm him down allow him to reflect but also enables him to talk about his feelings also. It works a treat.

Hmmmm, well hopefully they inspected the bathroom area, cos it really was grim when my child was there...

I really like the idea, and used to be involved in the 'brights' scheme when i lived in brighton. What i found as a therapist is that everyone wants a treatment, but my needs such as diy were harder to receive and i was therefore always in credit and couldn't spend my brights. In my opinion, better to do the swaps same day if possible (obviously that is not always possible). I am interested though if it could be carried out like that.

Is reflexology helpful during pregnancy?
bodsier replied to buttercupSE11's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Taper, you are right, there isn't, but I practiced reflexology for years with wonderful results for many conditions including gynaecological problems, back problems insomnia and so much more. I practiced all types of therapy for 20 years, including on site massage, hydrotherm massage, deep tissue massage, aromatherapy. I worked for a newspaper for 6 years, giving treatments to all members of staff. Of all the therapies I carried out, though all very effective, reflexology was most effective and the results were long term. Many of my clients did not need another treatment for at least 4 years for their ailments. Some enjoyed the benefits and kept up a maintenance program and had a treatment once a month. I personally am so convinced by it, I'm considering starting up again, I would offer my treatments on a donation basis... If you benefit from the treatment, pay accordingly. I am that convinced by it. A foot rub it is not. -
Riverford Organic - Rant - allergic reaction
bodsier replied to susyp's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Glad to hear it. Sorry to hear. I was surprised to hear that you had heard nothing, knowing how caring and ethical they are, it seemed incongruous. Sometimes these things take a little time to filter through to those more senior. They are usually really efficient. I think |Riverford are great. Really fresh food and a really good service. I hope it all gets sorted out. It seems that their food is produced by local bakeries in your area rather than their own. It may have been a mistake on the bakeries part, and not their own, but it's good that they are taking it seriously and dealing with it. -
bemused if you are still 'in contract', 3 sho0uld issue you with some sort of device that goes on your wifi box to improve the signal free of charge. If you doget one, can you let me know whether it works as I am having the same problem. Thanks

Well according to Dr Jenkinson, he has treated more cases of whooping cough in his small village than the whole of the UK. Suggesting that if all GP's had recognised and treated it over the past 30 years, there might not be evidence of a dramatic 'increase in the number of cases' but a steady number which fluctuates every 4-5 years when the vaccination expires.
-
It's actually been around for many years, its just a case of whether or not it is recognised by the medical profession. It has been assumed it was wiped out, but according to Dr. Jenkinson, this is not so, and he has been researching and treating it for many years. http://www.whoopingcough.net/keyworth%20study.htm Not wanting to add to the hysteria, but I fear I may have. My son had it last year. Had a relentless cough for months and difficulty breathing during coughing fits. There is a recordng on the site to help people to identify the cough.

Treating nannies like slaves..really upsets me
bodsier replied to kapaxiana's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Apologies kapaxiana, a major diversion has occurred, I do recall you were talking about the treatment of au pairs, ah well, maybe they really are not considered to be important? Mothers don't get much opportunity to consider themselves, so understandably the platform offered has been taken.
