If I may play the Derek Smalls role on this one (somewhere between fire and ice...luke warm water). I think the crunch question is...in order to keep going when an economy dips who will lend the money and at what rate? In the UK we can borrow money cheaply and so continue propping up the economy combined with a bit of trimming. Would Greece have been able to borrow money at a low enough price to keep going? Whether we 'care' about the people is one thing but getting access to money is surely the prerequisite to 'caring'. (awkward silence turtle)
