  1. Is anyone able to tell me if the distance is measured as a straight line (i.e. aka as the crow flies) or by safest route ?
  2. Possibility ? Function room private hire - The Lordship Pub
  3. Not ED by but https://goodasgoldldn.com/pages/menu in Brockley does the gluten free stuff. Highly recommended, the food is great.
  4. A case of real-life imitating art perhaps: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000v8wp
  5. Went past Gibbs & Dandy Builders Merchants on Grove Vale last night and it looked closed and empty. Prime location for residential perhaps ? ETA - Gibbs & Dandy is part of Jewsons so perhaps with the one on Railway Rise they've closed this one, even though the Jewsons site is the subject of a planning development.
  6. ED to Peckham Rye, Peckham Rye to Catford. 15 minutes would be pushing it though.
  7. I don't think there is much in the way of pride about running that store; I think there used to be and not so long ago. It's messy - the fruit and veg section never looks attractive. Contrast with Lidl and Morrisons that in my experience (and I appreciate others may have had a different one) always looks much better stocked and attractively presented. They don't seem to stock stuff that I would expect a store of that size to have - I looked for pudding rice the other week and couldn't find any and nor could the staff working there. Is it that unusual ? Doesn't anyone make rice pudding ? I guess not. You have weight certain fruit and veg - I'm OK with that - but why, on a Saturday when it's going to be busy, not ensure that the scales are all stocked with plenty of labels rather than there only be one working by 10am ? And don't get me started on so-called "Nectar prices"... It's got a dominant position and it's a cash-cow that the management don't seem to care about.
  8. Couple of options for the OP: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/145464776 https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/145192517
  9. If it's a compost bin then there is a request in the Wanted for one.
  10. Long time cyclist and driver here, (but I cycle much more than drive). Sadly I'm not sure we're ever going to get over this. The pro- and anti- camps are so polarised that compromise and acceptance seems impossible; it feels like someone has to be the winner. I had a break in Berlin recently and the attitude seems so different. There were loads and loads of cyclists (most non-electric as far as I could tell) but everyone adhered to the rules. Motorists and cyclists always stopped at red lights. Pedestrians only crossed at crossings and only when the green man light was lit. There were cycle lanes, sometimes borrowed from the road, sometimes from the pavements but always used. What's needed is a cultural shift in mindset.
  11. It could be worth contacting the Local History Group within the Dulwich Society - they have a number of people that have undertaken research into area and may be able to assist. Recent local history enquiries (2) (dulwichsociety.com)
  12. How very East Dulwich ! Was there an after party after party ?
  13. The mobile app is London-wide. As a regular cycle commuter I use it to report issues I encounter and they're normally dealt with fairly quickly.
  14. Yes it is, the collection "cost" is in the price of the bags. They used to be free...
  15. Screwfix Bob - mentioned a page or so back.
  16. Fabulous 🙂
  17. Alec - you may know this already but there was a Jaguar SUV stolen from Trossachs a couple of weeks back - I suspect the same gang and MO.
  18. All clear this morning.
  19. It's possible that it's just facing in the wrong direction and that it simply needs to be turned around by 180 degrees. Mistake or joke perhaps by whoever was last attaching signs to the same post..
  20. Recycled for free with your brown bin if this Southwark web page is correct. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/bins-and-recycling/christmas-tips-reduce-reuse-and-recycle
  21. Nope.
  22. Southwark Environmental Protection. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/environment/environmental-protection/construction?chapter=4
  23. It has been reported, yes. Only been there less than 24 hours.
  24. There's a car on Trossachs Road that looks abandoned, possibly after being stolen. Looks like there are children's toys inside.
  25. Yep - clearly shown as a church from this OS map from the early 1900's https://maps.nls.uk/geo/find/#zoom=16.3&lat=51.45639&lon=-0.08270&layers=298&b=11&z=0&point=0,0
