  1. But back to the tennis.........
  2. Actually, a lot of the reason the Scots won't support England at the footy is that they despise the way the fans behave. You don't see the sort of horrendous pissed-up violence at a Scots away game that can happen with the English fans. They stay at home for that.
  3. I like Murray, he is a typical laconic Scot. Dry humour. As Ted Max said he is young and let's face it the whole of Scotland is the same when it comes to football. It's mostly said as a bit of fun and a bit of sour grapes as the Scots do spectacularly badly at the footy. It must be very difficult to have a mic thrust in your face 2 mins after coming off court and I reckon he does not bad. He plays a great game of tennis and he's more exciting to watch than Federer who never seems to beak a sweat, Andy gets emotional out there.
  4. BTW - I believe it is illegal to parp one's horn unless in an emergency i.e. to warn of an imminent collision. Doing it to express annoyance is not on.
  5. Let's not start the old cyclists are bastards/not bastards discussion again. As we have said many times - some are, some aren't: some drivers are, some aren't: some people are, some aren't. This is a big city, lots of people moving around it. If we post on here every time someone gets in the way or irritates us there'll be no time to enjoy life.
  6. we are a family of four and we only chuck one 30L brabantia (what else) bin bag a week into the wheelie bin, sometimes two. my neighbours are a house of two and their bin is always overflowing by collection day. Hmmmmm. I should get a discount on the council tax!
  7. Federer v Murray (I hope)
  8. Well, I can sort of understand where the roots of the opposition come from. They are ugly and not all properties have a neat nook to store them so they end up in the way or generally looking crap. However there is not much alternative as black bags look worse especially once they are ripped open and the contents strewn around, also causing smells and general health hazards. Typical Daily Mail to jump on it and take it too far. Obviously the picture the Mail uses is from collection day when all the bins have been deliberately wheeled onto the street, so they - as usual - are distorting the view to their advantage.
  9. Ha, jolly good Jezza. What about traffic flow? I reckon my route better in peak times.
  10. possibly the exposure to negative ions - these have been shown to make you feel good and exhilarated possibly then making one more tired. Or it could just be that often by the sea you are scampering around, running on the beach, swimming, playing etc rather than just slobbing on the sofa at home and therefore, you get tired..
  11. It is a north-west direction from here, but a straight line is a better route no? west and then north is two sides of the triangle.

    Greetings!

I think I'd say over from Brixton. Hello Jim
  13. "Vauxhall Bridge/Embankment/Earls Court/A40/M1" You are joking with that one aren't you?
  14. Ridiculous suggestions all of the above. I drive the route many times as follows: Blackfriars - Kings Cross - Camden - Chalk Farm - Swiss Cottage - Finchley Rd - Brent Cross - M1 True enough re: the congestion charge corridor of Park Lane Edgeware Rd but why go west to go north?

  16. hope the victims are not too badly hurt
  17. at least they've caught some of the effers

  20. I would say immunity is enhanced and it's a good idea to catch it now (as long as you are generally hale and hearty)

  22. McDonalds is usually full too.......
  23. I like texting and use it all the time, better than having a conversation people can listen in to on the train.
  24. I don't think I was being snobby. I was agreeing with Bob in the sense that ?300 is a lot to spend on a piece of furniture that prob isn't that well made and that it may be better to source a nice piece - not necessarily an 'antique'. Ebay is pretty easy to search on, especially if you are the sort of person who spends time on a computer e.g. on a forum. FYI - I prefer the darker one of the two.
