  1. Yes they get paid per consultation, per vaccination, etc etc. this is why they take on more and more patients despite not even having enough staff to man the phones.
  2. Was just in there a minute ago to pick something up, absolutely deserted waiting room so who IS actually getting an appointment, I'd love to know. A couple of people came in to ask for the forms to join as a patient and reception blithely handed them over, great to know that even tho they aren't able to handle the 55, 000 + patients they already have, Dr. Gupta is still taking on more, hey its all money in the bank right Dr. Gupta? That mansion won't pay for itself!
  3. In response to your question HOmum http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/9843971/Summer-born-children-at-bottom-of-the-class-warn-experts-and-parents.html
  4. Yes you're lucky to have got omeprazole so quickly rather than having to jump through the hoops of trying the (often not effective) options of Gaviscon and then ranatadine first. It is likely to work so hang in there! My daughter had reflux and the waiting list was so long to get seen at Kings that she outgrew it at about 6 months which was the same time she was seen! Our son started omeprazole at about 8 weeks old and it took a week to see improvement but then it worked brilliantly. It is much more expensive in liquid form than tablet form but we pressed for it as our baby was so little and our GP prescribed the liquid. Like you describe with your daughter, his reflux only came on at 3 weeks and he was crying and writhing in pain constantly, plus bringing up milk constantly, and the omeprazole changed everything. We also got a cot wedge like this and made sure he was sitting up for at least 30 mins after a feed in his bouncy chair on its most vertical setting. Hang in there, it will get better xx http://www.babyreflux.co.uk/babyreflux-lift-safely-reflux-wedge-60cm-cot-291
  5. Thanks all, loads of useful suggestions there! Goodliz it is definitely not confined to pregnancy this time round as my baby is 6 months old now, so it looks like it's here to stay, so irritating! Am going to get some cooling gel and also try the banana / tonic water / magnesium? you're right it is very annoying for the person trying to sleep next to you too!
  6. I had RLS with my first pregnancy and it went away as soon as I gave birth, got it in my 2nd pregnancy, and it has stayed since giving birth and is driving me up the wall, I massage my calves, is there anything else that people have found relieves it? it's at its worst in the eve and when I'm in bed. I also get it in my arms, really don't want to have this forever, grrrrrrr.
  7. Yes definitely room for 2, and your ideas sound quite different, looking forward to either / both of them opening!

  9. midivydale my daughter started the terrible twos at about 17/18 months, and *appears* (famous last words) to be coming out of it now, a few weeks off her 3rd birthday. Unless she's gearing up for being an awful threenager?.aaaagh!

One of the reasons is that they get a new head in, and they immediately permanently exclude (expel) the children who are not doing at all well academically, which makes their results look better without any actual change having happened. Not another one in our area please.
  11. I believe they're trialling it with chemo patients as well as for morning sickness and motion sickness..
  12. Yes that particular tommee tippee is definitely free flow, my daughter used to pour it everywhere too! Tho obviously it does need to be tilted up at an angle to flow, if it was below your daughter's mouth and she was approaching it by putting her mouth down to it rather than holding it up and putting it into her mouth, then you have to sort of suck.
  13. The tommee tipped first cup (see below) is free pouring, and seems to be the one they find easiest as a first cup. You can get them in Lloyds pharmacy and sainsburys etc http://www.tesco.com/direct/tommee-tippee-essentials-first-cup/131-8636.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=131-8636&kpid=131-8636
  14. If the new Myla and Davis on Northcross Rd is anything like as good as the one by Herne Hill station, then they will indeed give their competitors a run for their money.
  15. I'm quite often told they have no room for more donations when I go to take stuff to the charity shops in ED so I should think there's enough donations in the area to stretch to another shop
  16. Classic HV logic, your baby is bouncing and bonny and you're doing an amazing job of stacking the weight on him with bf, so?naturally this means you won't have enough milk for him?errrr. Ignore. Your instinct that this is not right is a good one, you sound very far from 'out of your depth' to me, sounds like you're doing an ace job!
  17. Gosh I've never heard anyone say that children who are later to hit milestones, girls or boys, are lazy, but I agree people do talk a lot about girls being ahead of boys in certain things. I also don't get the obsession with milestones, particularly when people are desperate for their child to be able to walk, and very frustrated if they do this later than their pals, when it is sooo blissful being able to go to a picnic / cafe / pub lunch with a baby who can't walk!
  18. Not just a distraction, it really works! And I had HG. Just found this http://nevasic.com/nevasic/pregnancy-sickness-and-nevasic/

  21. why in particular has your friend warned you against it? If on the grounds of price then buying a bottle of st.tropez cream won't work out much cheaper than a spray tan, and if it's on the grounds that it might not look good / come out streaky then it's a lot more likely it will look good if a professional does it than if you do it for yourself for the first time! There are a couple of mobile spray tanners on the forum who will come to your house and do it, I've used a couple of different people on here, both with v good results. x
  22. ?430!!!!! Are they going to a spa?!
  23. Hi James, Would you mind sending me pm too? Any more info about how to make it not another Harris Academy greatly appreciated Thanks!
  24. We definitely need another school. Co-ed is a must as you say James. But as the above posters say, NOT another Harris and not another faith school. There are a lot of us that would really balk at the idea of sending a child to a harris academy, as simonethebeaver says, the domination of schools by Harris is increasingly alarming, and they do have a definite ethos / methods as bawdynan says, which lots of us don't buy into and don't want to be a part of. Another Harris would limit choice, as would another faith school. Would LOVE to see a non-faith, co-ed secondary open. Or two..
  25. You poor thing, Definitely go to the GP and ask for something if you find you can't cope or are getting dehydrated. I had HG with both pregnancies. I waited until 14 weeks into my first pregnancy to take medication (promethazine) as I was so anxious about taking drugs while pregnant, but I was in a position to be able to lie on the floor throwing up 30 times a day as it was my first child and I was freelance so I just stopped taking work on. With my second pregnancy, by week 7 I was unable to look after my toddler so I started the drugs much sooner (this time needed both promethazine and metoclopramide, perhaps cos hormone levels are higher in first trimester) and it reduced the vomiting and nausea to some degree in first trimester and started to work considerably better in second trimester. Can you go to bed super early? as Crystal7 says, tiredness really exacerbates it. I also found the Nevasic app helped, as Bluesuperted says. Weird but true! You just listen to it for 15 mins a day. Are you working? If so are they understanding at work? Really feel for you, it's just dreadful. xx
