Yes that particular tommee tippee is definitely free flow, my daughter used to pour it everywhere too! Tho obviously it does need to be tilted up at an angle to flow, if it was below your daughter's mouth and she was approaching it by putting her mouth down to it rather than holding it up and putting it into her mouth, then you have to sort of suck.

The tommee tipped first cup (see below) is free pouring, and seems to be the one they find easiest as a first cup. You can get them in Lloyds pharmacy and sainsburys etc http://www.tesco.com/direct/tommee-tippee-essentials-first-cup/131-8636.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=131-8636&kpid=131-8636

hair-raising (new hairdresser on north x road)
hellosailor replied to davidh's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If the new Myla and Davis on Northcross Rd is anything like as good as the one by Herne Hill station, then they will indeed give their competitors a run for their money. -
I'm quite often told they have no room for more donations when I go to take stuff to the charity shops in ED so I should think there's enough donations in the area to stretch to another shop

two questions - weaning and bottle feeding

Classic HV logic, your baby is bouncing and bonny and you're doing an amazing job of stacking the weight on him with bf, so?naturally this means you won't have enough milk for him?errrr. Ignore. Your instinct that this is not right is a good one, you sound very far from 'out of your depth' to me, sounds like you're doing an ace job! -
Gosh I've never heard anyone say that children who are later to hit milestones, girls or boys, are lazy, but I agree people do talk a lot about girls being ahead of boys in certain things. I also don't get the obsession with milestones, particularly when people are desperate for their child to be able to walk, and very frustrated if they do this later than their pals, when it is sooo blissful being able to go to a picnic / cafe / pub lunch with a baby who can't walk!

why in particular has your friend warned you against it? If on the grounds of price then buying a bottle of st.tropez cream won't work out much cheaper than a spray tan, and if it's on the grounds that it might not look good / come out streaky then it's a lot more likely it will look good if a professional does it than if you do it for yourself for the first time! There are a couple of mobile spray tanners on the forum who will come to your house and do it, I've used a couple of different people on here, both with v good results. x

We definitely need another school. Co-ed is a must as you say James. But as the above posters say, NOT another Harris and not another faith school. There are a lot of us that would really balk at the idea of sending a child to a harris academy, as simonethebeaver says, the domination of schools by Harris is increasingly alarming, and they do have a definite ethos / methods as bawdynan says, which lots of us don't buy into and don't want to be a part of. Another Harris would limit choice, as would another faith school. Would LOVE to see a non-faith, co-ed secondary open. Or two..

You poor thing, Definitely go to the GP and ask for something if you find you can't cope or are getting dehydrated. I had HG with both pregnancies. I waited until 14 weeks into my first pregnancy to take medication (promethazine) as I was so anxious about taking drugs while pregnant, but I was in a position to be able to lie on the floor throwing up 30 times a day as it was my first child and I was freelance so I just stopped taking work on. With my second pregnancy, by week 7 I was unable to look after my toddler so I started the drugs much sooner (this time needed both promethazine and metoclopramide, perhaps cos hormone levels are higher in first trimester) and it reduced the vomiting and nausea to some degree in first trimester and started to work considerably better in second trimester. Can you go to bed super early? as Crystal7 says, tiredness really exacerbates it. I also found the Nevasic app helped, as Bluesuperted says. Weird but true! You just listen to it for 15 mins a day. Are you working? If so are they understanding at work? Really feel for you, it's just dreadful. xx

Yes StraferJack is right, I can think of 4 or 5 of us who haven't been recently cos we've just had new babies, it may be that a portion of your regulars are still trying to negotiate leaving the house with two and will be back soon!

There are now 2 teams on any given day, one for the emergency c-sections and one for the elective ones, so your procedure should run on time, the only reason you would get bumped behind emergency sections is if there were suddenly loads at once and the elective team had to step in to help out in this situation.

Has anyone had placenta capsules made?
hellosailor replied to hellosailor's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I guess there is a lot to be said for placebo even > if it's not ACTUALLY benefitting you it could > psychologically do some good. Yes that's my thinking. I can never say for sure that the capsules helped me but the feeling that I was doing everything I could to have a better post partum period than after my first, kind of covering all bases, was psychologically a good thing for me. If it was a placebo effect then I don't mind, it amounts to the same thing! -

> > Besides, how does a mum who has used them really > KNOW that they've made any difference? (serious > question) This is very true, and I will never know whether it was the pills that helped me not get depression and have more energy and resources this time round, and when I'm asked by pregnant mum friends whether they helped I always point out that it can't be proved either way. For me it was worth a shot but I know it's a very unpalatable (excuse the pun!) idea for a lot of people. xx -
Hi all, I would really like to hear feedback from recent / current Gumboots parents, I have a couple of questions in particular so anyone who might be able to help answer them please pm me, thanks v much! (it is the 2-3 yrs and 3-5 yrs rooms I'd like to ask about rather than the baby room.) xx

Has anyone had placenta capsules made?
hellosailor replied to hellosailor's topic in The Family Room Discussion
hmmm.. the question I posed when I started this thread months ago (not sure why it attracted so much more attention after being resurrected recently than it did back then when it barely raised an eyebrow seemingly!) was 'has anyone had placenta capsules made?.and if so do you feel they helped?' ?.Not 'has anyone who has never had placenta capsules made got an opinion on whether they'd help?' It was the feedback of mums who had done this that I sought, not a debate between people who have no experience of taking the pills? just sayin'.. -

Yes you can still donate the cord blood if you have your placenta encapsulated, I did both. -
The share is at the other family's house and our nanny works 4 days a week for them, with my child sharing there on 2 days. By the time my second child potentially joined the share, their eldest child would have started school and their youngest might be at pre-school for some mornings, so I think our nanny would only have all 4 children for an hour in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon, and this would only be on 2 days a week as she just looks after the other family's children the rest of the week. If their youngest does indeed go to preschool in the mornings on the same 2 days my children were there, it could therefore be that our nanny only had my two for that part of the day. Sbot can I ask is your feeling that you wouldn't expect a pay increase for a sibling being added the same given that our nanny works from the other family's house and so they are, as it were, the primary family? Or does that make no difference to your thinking?
