  1. 4 The 99p store? 8 The sea Cow?
  2. Well, who'd have thought it. Ricky ended up in the dance-off. Obviously he was saved against poor Natalie Cassidy who I am genuinely sad to see go. Looks like Ali and her American will win.
  3. Well done Sue!
  4. Hi, I and several of my colleagues have had the Swine Flu vaccine, also had the seasonal flu jab on the same day. The swine flu arm was tender for a few days but has recovered and didn't interfere with day to day living. No other side effects. The Daily Mail is not IMO a reliable source for information.
  5. Well I found my Health Visitor an invaluable support when I had my children. They don't ( and aren't supposed) to make the amount of home visits that midwives do especially case-loading midwives like The Lanes. Health Visitors have a huge case-load and have to deal with a lot of 'At Risk' children as well. Please don't underestimate their workload.
  6. Anyone watching or are you all watching X Factor? Phil Tuffnal's out! Shame he had a great attitude.
  7. I would second what Anapau has just said. I have a daughter in year 11 and so obviously thinking of A level options and we have talked about the IB. We concluded that it would suit best the ' All Rounders'. My daughter also likes languages ( which she seems to have a natural flare for), but also quite likes music, history and RE. She really doesn't care much for science and isn't particularly sporty and so would suit A levels where she can study the subjects she enjoys. I'm sure most of us had at least one subject at school where we perhaps under-performed because we had no interest in the subject. As far as I'm aware the IB is only available at Independent Schools, but I could be wrong.
  8. Hope he gets better soon. For those of you with small children at Day Nurseys unfortunately they will spread these viruses however careful you are with handwashing etc. But don't forget all these infections help build up the body's defences. I found both my children had better health at school age as a result. My son will be 14 in January, he still falls prey to viral infections but to date has never had a single antibiotic in his life!
  9. I had the Swine Flu jab yesterday as well as the normal seasonal jab. I was offered both as a front line health worker, I don't normally bother with the normal jab but could have both at the same time (at work) without having to make appointments etc. I feel fine and apart from the Swine Flu arm feeling a little tender, have had no side effects at all. It's sad to say that few of my colleagues have accepted the vacccine , a shame when we are supposed to help prevent the spread to vulnerable individuals.
  10. No idea John, I noticed this morning as I waited for the bus and couldn't make sense of it. We all like your shop, glad to see your window has been repaired. I suspect you shall never have the answer to your question. Best wishes, Ann
  11. Agree with what other have said. A decent B&B. An independant Cinema. A decent Vietnamese Restaurant ( much supported on an old thread). A clothes shop that sold the basics; White/grey socks vests etc for school children. Reasonable quality tights for women working or otherwise. Same for men in socks , white shirts , underpants etc. A bit Primark but very convenient.
  12. Hi, I'm going to try and come although I think my kids are in a different age group to most of you, I'm still an ED mum! Good idea Fuchia!
  13. Well, Craig ( the one who can't dance ) got to dance to dance at Blackpool and now, at last he's out. Ali came back from last week's dance off with a perfect score. Well done!
  14. Well said Keef, I hope you're daughter's OK.
  15. Well said Keef, I hope you're daughter's OK.
  16. True, but she wasn't the only one. Let's face it, older women do not favour well on this show.
  17. Don't know the school Jess. Are you hoping to change schools for your son? Good luck if that's the case.
  18. redjam, We were really strict about this over the years as obviously it's frowned on by the schools, but don't forget their abscence rates are published and so can be an area in which the school is judged. So you can't really blame Heber. However with hindsight I'm not sure it is such a big deal. As you say, your child will have an opportunity to explore other lifestyles and perhaps language? But be honest with the school. It's not worth the guilt factor. And from what others have said, you won't be alone. Also flights even a day or so outside of the 'school hoiday' can be considerably cheaper with less time out of achool. My daughter's in year 11, totally different scenario for me!
  19. So how the heck did he land the job as Masterchef judge? I agree with RosieH, he agrees in not so many words with what Michel Roux says. Still enjoy the programme though.
  20. Anyone watching? Looks like Jo or Joe, probably justifiably I'm afraid.
  21. Linkg. Brierly midwives look after women who have specifically requested home birth. They are employed by Kings. You cannot take legal action against the hospital without implicating the midwives who were responsible for you through-out your pregnancy. If you're implying you shoudn't have given birth at home then you should have been advised by your midwives at he time. Your post doesn't make sense.
  22. Ann

    X Factor

I don't think Louis any chance with the groups. I like the guy with the big hair too and Essex girl.
  23. Ravi's gone, he looks gutted, good show tonight.
  24. Linda and Ravi in the dance off.
  25. Daizie, stop it now!
