  4. Does the new Pizza place do take away or is it just a sit-down?

  6. Thanks I enjoyed those.
  7. I remember the old jewellers, was run by an old man and wasn't open very much. There was a second hand shop that sold lots of children's items where the Deli is now. I also remember a second hand shop where the Locksmiths is now on the corner; the locksmith had the tiny shop across the road which now sell jewelley ( I think).Have fond memories of the second hand ' children's ' shop. It was run by a very nice woman. We didn't have internet back in the early 90's ( well I didn't ). I also remember the greengrocers that were where ( I think ) the Black Cherry is now. Could be wrong. At least A J Farmers is still there.
  8. I was in Somerfields at about 9 am Saturday morning and saw no signs of anything unusual at all. If there been a bad crash there would have been some evidence I would have thought.
  9. Flawless were great tonight!
  10. Greta Scacchi , actress was in the year above me.
  11. No I heard it too.
  12. So did you get The Charter for your son in the end? I am interested in what the Sixth form is like.
  13. Anything by Sister Sledge.
  14. I can't say for sure but there are definitely similarities; my personal experience of home cooked African food is Sierra Leone, Ghanaian and Nigerian, but mostly from Sierra Leone.
  15. Me too, I live nearby and should definitely visit that area more often. Some of my colleagues are African (female) and have often brought home cooked meals in for all to share. Absolutely delicious.
  16. I see the black couple all the time on Lordship Lane, very often around the Goose Green area and I must admit they were the first ones who came to mind and like others have said, completely harmless. I also remember well the White Woman. She was definately under the care of the Maudsley ( but not necessarily as an in patient) had this information on very reliable sources. She did literally paint her face with white emulsion. Haven't seen her for many years but hope she's well where-ever she is. I've never seen the whistling man. Is he still around?
  17. I've got kids( now teenagers) and I have to say I'm glad that there are enough decent Bars, Cafes and Restaurants ][[/i]on our doorstep, that can keep them hopefully entertained locally when they're old enough to go out at night. At least some of the time.[/i]
  18. Don't be put off if keycamp and Eurocamp are on site. Have holidayed in France many times and they have been present at most of them but that doesn't mean the campsite doesn't have plenty plots for proper campers. Also you say you only want the basics but an on site bar and Restaurant are usually a bonus. I have typed 'camping in france ' for a search before and you will get literally thousands but you can break it down to regions and star rating. At the end of the day you can't realy go wrong with children on that type of hoilday, but beware your children might need more to do when thay get older. Anyway good luck.
  19. By the way, what do people generally think about Jaflong? I tend to use Surma and Mirash for take-aways, both are good. Apologies if it's within this thread already but it's a very long one and by now people will have a firmer opinion, now that it's been established for a while. Glad you all had a good night.
  20. Where is The Lodge? Genuine question.
  21. I remember loads of the above. I used to like watching The Monkees, possibly the original contrived Boy Band? Anyway they were good.
  22. Emily's on North Cross Road. Always fresh, very good portions and reasonably priced.
  23. Have lived here for about 17 years. It's always been a nice place to live. There were always a few good pubs, restaurants etc. There was always an interesting mix of people. There were always nice parks and a local leisure centre. There were always two excellent local libraries. There have always been some good local primary schools and nurseries. There have always been some excellent childminders. Have never been underwhelmed by Ed.Our two teenagers have grown up here and have has very happy childhoods so far. Husband enjoys local pubs and resturants as I do. No I've never been underwhemed.
