  1. Anyone know if Bookstart at Albrighton is still running and whether they have re-started after the holidays?
  2. Thursday afternoon good for us too. After 3 better for same reason as Snowboarder. Can't help with weaning moans though. I am delaying that for as long as possible!
  3. I have contacted them but have decided to wait until they are open and have children present before looking round. Sounds like this will be 2nd/3rd week in September. I'll let you know.
  4. G+B or Chez-Yaklet both suit me. You'd be welcome here too but maybe throwing in a 3rd option at this stage is too complicated. I will be toddler-free.
  5. Louise, you'd be more than welcome. We're not the most organised group but maybe this will improve when the weather gets colder and cabin fever sets in. Are there only 3 (I mean 6 or maybe even 7) of us tomorrow? House is good, but if there are a few of us then buggy space might be a problem. I've been trying to think of somewhere nearby where there is a bit of floor space so we could maybe put a blanket down and let the babies wriggle and roll around. Looking forward to catching up.
  6. We have a babydan and I really like it (child now 2.5). The Tripp Trapp does look a bit nicer and you have the option of attaching a tray to it which you don't have with the babydan.
  7. Sounds good. I walked past there a couple of weeks ago. Thought it had become a night club! Can we do Weds afternoon?
  8. Hi everyone. Shall we arrange something for next week? Maybe Tuesday or Wednesday?
  9. Has anyone had anyone managed to contact the new 'Destiny' nursery on Coppleston Road? They are not replying to my emails and can't find a phone number.
  10. 'Morning' sickness is the pits. Nothing worked for me apart from drugs. Phenergan and cyclizine (both anti-histamines) both help but made me too drowsy to be able to function. In my first pregnancy as well as all the usual dietary stuff I tried acupuncture with no effect. 2nd pregnancy I tried reflexology, also with no effect. The reflexologist told me that it only works for morning sickness if anxiety is a large component which we both agreed it wasn't for me. In the end I took metoclopramide and ranitindine together in my 2nd pregnancy until about 18 weeks. This reduced the nausea to a level where I was able to function and go to work. Felt absolutely awful though and I feel sick just thinking about it! Staying well hydrated and sleeping as much as possible do help. Not easy if you have to work and/or have another child to think about. Kings have a prescribing protocol for this so if your GP isn't sure what to try next they could always call Kings to get a copy. Good luck, I really really feel for you.
  11. Hmmmm, thought so. All the things I need them for!
  12. We are free after 11. Also free on Monday. We Spring Mums have become a bit rubbish about organising ourselves haven't we?
  13. I gave up on the P+T for this reason. My big but not massive baby hated it. By about 6 weeks she seemed to get really cross that she couldn't bend her legs up or wriggle around if the toddler was in. Also seemed to get really hot in there. I have a friend who is using hers in newborn-toddler mode but without the cocoon. Have you tried this?
  14. Do any of you family forumites use Ecoballs instead of washing detergent? They sound a bit too good to be true. Do they work? I am tempted to give them a try but they are quite pricey. Thanks.
  15. Why would a doctor pierce a baby's ears?
  16. sewing elastic on mittens and name tags in clothes
  17. I have just been to see Daniel the Chiropractor on CPR for the exact same symptoms with all the same causes as you. Feeling better already.
  18. Look out on here for 'Spring Babies' meetings. We meet for coffee most weeks. The Wooden Circle outdoor playgroup is also quite nice, only once a month though. I would avoid paying for lots of classes apart from swimming for really little ones. Singing and story sessions at the libraries are really good, free and good for babies from about 5-6 months.
  19. I also love Kite Runner and Thousand Splendid Suns. The Help is a great holiday read, looks really big but a real page turner. I hated The Slap. So did the rest of my book club. Awful. All of the characters deserved a slap. Really hated it! If you really will have lots of time then Wild Swans is worth a read.
  20. My 3m old still needs 3 sleeps in the day. 1 hour-ish at 8.30-9am (usually in buggy if I am organised enough to leave house for nursery in time), longer nap at 11.30-12 which can be up to 2 1/2 hours if we are at home, then short nap of about 40 mins later in afternoon, again in buggy. I think my first baby was only having 2 sleeps by 5 months which were a long 2 hour morning nap at about 9-9.30 then a shorter one in the middle of the afternoon. No idea how the transition from 3 to 2 was made though. The morning nap gradually moved later and later until it became a post-lunch nap at about 14 months and the afternoon sleep was dropped (nursery made this happen). When I have the 2 of them at home I try to give toddler her lunch as early as possible (11.45) so that there is some overlap of their naps. Doesn't always work of course. I'm just happy that my 2 1/2 year old still naps at all as lots of others her age seem not to.
  21. My Midwife told me that the most recent evidence suggests that 3 sweeps on 3 consecutive days gives the best chance. That's what she did. And I went into labour on the third day. Like others have said it was quite reassuring to be told how things had progressed between sweeps. I was induced with number 1 and found the examinations/sweeps during that process very uncomfortable. This time it wasn't nearly so bad. Each sweep was followed by a period of quite strong Braxton-Hicks. I say go for it. Nothing to lose apart from a bit more dignity.
  22. I met with a friend today who is really happy with the Mini City double. She has a 2 year old and new baby and uses a Graco cocoon with it for the baby. Seems like it ticks all the boxes. Damn! I also got a P+T (old and 2nd hand) and really hate it. It was ok for the first month or so but from about 6 weeks my baby has hated it. Seems unable to wriggle around and bend her legs up if the toddler is in it. At 11 weeks old, I really can't see how she is supposed to stay in it in baby-toddler position for another 3 months. Maybe it gets better when it is in toddler-toddler mode?
  23. We can do tomorrow morning or Thursday afternoon but not morning.
