You’re right, I see happy people there all the time. Last week I saw a young boy cycling through with his Dad, he excitedly shouted “it’s so much better!” when his Dad pointed out that the cycle lane was completed. Replacing the echelon parking with normal bays is immeasurably safer also. Improvements everywhere around, not just in the square. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCWOWo9odM6/?igsh=MTMycmpvaXY1a3Axdw==

Some people will never be happy. end of thread

Presume you’re referring to the temporary planters near East Dulwich station, which I agree are looking tatty. The good news is East Dulwich is getting public realm improvements too, surely you didn’t miss the consultation? https://services.southwark.gov.uk/transport-and-roads/improving-our-streets/live-projects/street-improvements/east-dulwich-streets-for-people

C40 Cities: What the Khan't has really London signed up to.
march46 replied to shuntman's topic in Roads & Transport
I find ‘The Khant’ incredibly offensive. I’m surprised admin hasn’t stepped in. -
The objection on behalf of The Dulwich Society highlights the overdevelopment of the site but also the lack of habitat buffer to the adjacent green corridor and the missed opportunity to include a low line walking route, as noted in the Southwark Plan for the site. Well worth a read, they make lots of sensible points.

I see the objections have almost doubled over the weekend, with many concerns being raised about the impact on the neighbouring Charter East site. Interesting to read this objection from a local business. The access through a narrow passageway (4 metres wide?) for 500+ pedestrians being shared with vehicular access for car parking, deliveries and taxis doesn’t sound sensible.

81 objections so far. https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=SHWOSNKBJXR00 Lots of sensible points raised in the Dulwich Society response, which highlights the overdevelopment of the site but also the lack of habitat buffer to the adjacent green corridor and the missed opportunity to include a low line walking route, as noted in the Southwark Plan for the site. Interesting to see they refer to the student rooms being of poor quality; “long and narrow (only around 3 m) and single aspect with a window at one end, giving poor quality space. There is no provision of small communal spaces at upper levels (with around 30 single rooms per floor in each of the 2 buildings) which should be considered to improve the quality of student life. This is particularly important given the focus on year-round student occupation. It would also be advisable to see how the building could be repurposed at the point when such dedicated student housing is no longer required. Given the PBSA is not tied to a particular establishment, it could be more vulnerable to a downturn in overseas students.”

Dulwich Roads: engage brain before posting..
march46 replied to Rockets's topic in Roads & Transport
If ever there was a thread that deserved to be lounged... -
Suggest you take a look at the plans

They’ve completed one side. Not the other yet.
-
The entrance from Calton hasn’t been built yet Rockets so hold your horses before criticising that they’ve created any problem.

There are literally shovels in the ground, pedestrianising it yet some on here are calling for a referendum on whether it should exist. Time to admit defeat and move on?

https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/dulwich/a-thousand-voices-cry-out-against-dulwich-ltns/ At least Richard Aldwinkle gets a photo credit for supplying this one, in fact two in one piece!
-
Sharing 3 links with the same photo doesn’t prove your point. It shows the lengths you’ll go to try though.
-
The same photo with the offensive ‘All Streets Matter’ slogan was used in multiple Southwark News article. That’s hardly a gotcha moment Rockets, more a reflection of their lazy journalism.

Hope the police take this seriously, thanks for being a good citizen and reporting it.- 1 reply

Laughing at the thought the Southwark News send a reporter to take a photo of a handful of protestors. It’s much more likely they take their own photo, and Richard sends them a news piece.
