  1. Would love to see your evidence for those statements @Spartacus. The data shows a different story, as does my lived experience.
  2. If anyone is thinking of donating it’s worth remembering the now defunct Dulwich Alliance’s efforts to seek a judicial review. Donations totalled £28,250 and it would seem all that happened was lawyer’s advised against pursuing legal action.

  4. Exactly. A consultation is not a referendum, nor is it a vote.
  5. Surely you’re not also against school streets? @Rockets @heartblock
  6. No conspiracy Rockets, statutory consultation happens for every key decision after the initial consultation has ended.
  7. https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/southwark/its-made-the-place-much-nicer-residents-speak-about-life-after-controlled-parking-zones/ Good to see Southwark News reporting the positives of CPZs
  8. CPZs clearly have a role to play in reducing car journeys. It’s worth noting that ‘Small-area Controlled Parking Zones borough-wide’ is one of 6 key measures the Healthy Streets Coalition call on all London councils to implement. https://www.healthystreetsscorecard.london/ Lots of well-respected charities and campaign groups make up the Healthy Streets Coalition such as RoadPeace, Action Vision Zero, Wheels for Wellbeing, London Living Streets etc…, supported by Asthma & Lung UK and Clean Cities campaign.
  9. That’s such a depressing photo with so many cars blocking the pavement, isn’t it illegal in London?
  10. Well done for reporting Jim, I find East Dulwich Road is terrible for speeding drivers. Worth giving @DulwichRoads a follow if you’re on Twitter. They seem to be getting traction with local police, flagging hotspots etc
  11. It’s strange how some drivers think they should be entitled to store their private property in the public realm for free.
  12. Dangerous drivers are mounting the pavement on Rosendale Rd in order to avoid roadworks. Take care if travelling this way. Hopefully these videos will be acted on by the police.
  13. The problem is drivers parking inconsiderately - CEOs no longer having to wait 5 mins for a driver to switch of their idling engine when asked is a good thing.
  14. Awful collision on Rye Lane, 8 year child hit by driver and taken to major trauma centre yesterday. https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/southwark/eight-year-old-boy-taken-to-major-trauma-centre-after-rye-lane-collision/?utm_source=mailpoet&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=the-latest-news-from-southwarknewscouk-2
  15. Posted elsewhere but relevant to this thread. The council is responding to complaints from businesses and residents and is looking to strengthen parking protocols so CEOs don’t have to wait 5 mins before issuing tickets. Good news for road safety / bad news for drivers who park inconsiderately! https://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgIssueHistoryHome.aspx?IId=50032081
  16. Here are the actual reasons stated for the change. I’m pleased they’re listening to residents and businesses to tackle inconsiderate parking by drivers.
  17. Seems I can't walk anywhere without seeing drivers speeding, distracted by their mobile phone, dangerously parking across junctions, idling etc... They are in charge of huge heavy vehicles that can do serious damage yet take none of the care needed. Do they fear no consequences with police resources seemingly unable to tackle this?
  18. Parking restrictions are 100% a positive step forwards and without doubt will reduce the number of car journeys in the area. I’ve already heard from friends in the proposed Dulwich Village zone who have made the decision to get rid of their cars, since this consultation started - seems it was the final nudge they needed.
  19. He said that the cost of living crisis affects everyone in the borough, not just car owners in Dulwich.
  20. Booking is required via Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/dulwich-hill-streets-for-people-consultation-event-tickets-673617617427?aff=oddtdtcreator
  21. @Rockets I'm sure you're aware but this is not correct - they are not 'Tory councillors'. They stood as Conservative candidates to become local councillors and failed.
  22. I’m pleased the council is going ahead with the school street. It’s been sorely needed for many years. Some messages in this thread seem to assume everyone is travelling by car, not everyone does of course, thankfully!
  23. It’s a mailing list, nothing more. Given One Dulwich’s spokesperson made abhorrent comparisons between planters and the Berlin Wall I imagine their credibility is shot, and it’s absolutely right for our MP to ask for details about who they are representing. I suspect a dwindling number.
  24. Mums for Lungs do a good free flyer about woodburning that can be ordered online. Maybe pop it through doors with a woodpile outside to help raise awareness? Agree it’s a serious problem. https://www.mumsforlungs.org/resources-and-downloads
