  1. Leafy trees don't help either, the moisture in them tends to block the signal a bit too (same reason why sky tv/sattelite signals don't like fog or rain), so any area with hills and trees is going to cause problems depending on where the masts are located.
  2. Has anyone wondered what Bruce Wayne did with all the contractors he must have employed to fit out his cave to keep em quiet....or maybe that's what the dinosaur is for.
  3. ok, you're vertiginous.... oooh, I feel dizzy now...
  4. As someone who drives about London quite a lot for work, I'm amazed at how many roadworks seem to sit in place for weeks on end with little or no activity. The corner of Rye Lane and Copeland road is another prime example, one lane blocked off for several weeks now and I haven't seen anyone working there for ages. Personally I think if TFL starting charged whoever was carrying out the works a penalty for each day they cause traffic disruption, road works would suddenly start being completed in record times. It's a bit like a few months back when a fire in the Blackwell tunnel closed it for a couple of days, at first they said it would take a week to fix, then after a huge outcry they mananged to re open it after a day and a half.
  5. Yeah the first one was much better, if 28 weeks later had been set in a city I wasn't familiar with I don't think I would have thought too much of it at all.
  6. Trouble is MP, they tend to do this:
  7. Finally got around to watching 28 Weeks Later (sequel to Danny Boyles 28 Days Later) in the weekend. For those who don't know it takes place in a pretty much deserted London 28 weeks after a virus wipes out most of the population of the UK (and turns them into zombies, as these things do...). Anyhoo I was finding it quite eerie was seeing familiar streets and landmarks desolate and deserted, and then it got to a part of the movie when 2 of the characters make their way to their south London home and things started to seem very familiar, East Dulwich familiar. At first I dismissed it as 'I'm sure lots of street look like that' but just done a bit of a Google and streetview search and sure enough part of the film was shot in and around Therapia Road, only a fairly short part of the film but I did recognise a bit when they turn off Scutari Road into Therapia Rd and then their house which turns out to be 32 Therapia Rd. Probably old news but a bit of interesting trivia I thought.

Another option would be getting a FreeSat box, they should work quite happily off a sky dish. Edit: Ironically there is one in the For Sale section FreeSat Box

You could always get a little indoor type aerial, I did that a while ago when we were in the same situation. It was just a cheapie from Woolies (hmm must have been quite a while ago) with an in built amplifier (although the signal is pretty good around here anyway).

  11. That's quite cool, I remember looking through our copy when it arrived a couple months back and looking at that picture thinking 'does that T-shirt say 'to the pub'?'. Gave me a laugh as I thought I might be having the same thought in a few months time :)
  12. Just had a quick look at the online manual. Couple of things to check (see linked site below) TF5800 Manual Is you TV aerial connected to connector 1 (it's a bit confusing but I think the TV aerial should be on connector 1 and not 12) Does it have a 'loop' cable connected from connector 2 to connector 3 on the back. If that doesn't help you could try this (from the manual): 'However, if you are in a weak signal area, or are using a signal amplifier with more than one output, you may achieve better results by connecting a cable from the aerial or amplifier directly to the ANT2 connector, rather than using the loop cable.'

  14. Have just discovered the brilliantly warped Robot Chicken on TV, they have done a Star Wars parody, these two clips gave me a good laugh.
  15. Ernie, I think there is more to your roommate than you realise, I don't know how to break this to you but... Bert is evil

  20. Just passed Brendans link onto a mate, he came back with this (not as funny but still quite random): "I was typing a search into Google starting with ?is it?... Google?s suggestion was ?is it thursday?. Why would I possibly what to do a search for that?. I ran it and the top result was;" http://isitthursday.org/ related to that I found: http://isitfriday.org/

"Controversial BrewDog has previously been criticised for 32% and 41% strength beers." Holy cr*p, changes the whole 'I'll just pop in for one pint' a bit....hmmmmm Those bottles are so wrong, but so funny.

I wonder if it will just the cockroaches left standing when the dust finally settles.
  24. Just as a bit of info if you want to complain about a certain driver. Each bus has a 'running number' usually a small yellow or black card with a 1-3 digit number on it. In the photo below you can see it just below the drivers cab, there should also be one by the front door. If you note this along with the route number and time of day the bus company can (usually) pin point the exact driver. It can also be useful to note the reg number or 'bonnet' number (in the photo it's the TA 233 number) but that's probably easier said than done. I think half the problem is that they design the buses for wheelchairs to go on through the rear doors (there is even a button outside on the rear doors so they can alert the driver they are there), so I guess they (the manufacture) assume that's how buggys would get onto the bus also. As I see it they should let the buggys through the rear doors also, no matter what bus it is, surely it would make eveyones life easier. http://www.thelondondailynews.com/images/bus%2065.JPG

Very true, and I guess if the US hadn't gone after Japan I'd be speaking Japanese and making sushi....although I do like sushi.
