  1. War has consequences and its always the people who suffer. This is tax payers money being used to provide food for another country, the UK can't afford it. What does Starmer and Reeves keep on repeating that they are trying to fix the financial blackhole they "apparently" inherited. Simple the UK can't afford to be bailing out money, harsh yes, honest yes, unless you want to pay vastly more tax, oh that's what Reeves is planning for her Autumn budget anyway. All that happens is that the some become even more hard up, whilst the likes of the rich, it doesn't touch the sides. Wake up.
  2. Stop foreign aid spend and re-direct those funds to improve the lives of UK citizens. People shouldn't have to rely on charities and food banks, their is enough food wasted in this country already which could be re-directed. Let their own Govts feed them, why does the UK have to do it, how about other nations contributing. Well if aid can't reach them, how are they supposed to be fed if as you say food parcels being dropped from planes doesn't work. Lets sort out this country first and put UK citizens first for a change.
  3. How about feeding those here at home first, rather than dealing with overseas humanitarian crisis.
  4. Sour dough, it#s an import, give us back our OWN bread. The Cheese Block sell samosas
  5. Thought it had been a fish and chip shop at one time?
  6. Try Gentrification, those with more money than sense who constantly want something different, when pie and mash isn't good enough for them. "Argentinian Cornish pasties" give3 me a proper Cornish pastie any day of the week, at least I'd be supporting something traditionally British. ps. tin hat at the ready........................🤣
  7. Closures on August 17: Full list of 37 Poundland stores set to close soon Story by Luke Alsford, Sam Courtney-Guy • 4h • 3 min read Bedford Bidston Moss Broxburn Craigavon Dartmouth East Dulwich Falmouth Hull St Andrews Newtonabbey Perth Poole Sunderland Stafford Thornaby Worcester
  8. As you quite rightly say a sample of 500 is extremely small. (actually unrepresentative in the scheme of things) Now corbyn has his own party or should that be Party, it'll be interesting to see if it is merely a "think tank" or if it contests seats and then if they win any and if they chase currently held seats by Labour. It'll be even more amusing if it unseats current Labour Ministers though.
  9. No, no need to shut down tfl, just cut out the unnecessary and expensive beauracracy, simples. Sep, you don't even live here.
  10. I do hope NOT, wouldn't trust Farage as far as I could throw him, Starmer & co. He's backed by GB News which focus's predominantly on immigration while the BBC focus predominantly on the Israel - Gazza conflict.
  11. Agreed and in the meantime its "joe public" who has to pay through higher prices. We're talking all over the shop from food to insurance and everything in between. And to add insult to injury they "hurt " their own voters/supporters through the actions they have taken. Sadly it gets to a stage where you start thinking about leaving London and even exiting the UK for good, but where to go????? Sad times now and ahead for at least the next 4yrs, hence why Govt and Local Authorities need to cut spending on all but essential services. An immediate saving, all managerial and executive salaries cannot exceed and frozen at £50K Do away with the Mayor of London, the GLA and all the hanging on organisations, plus do away with borough mayors and the teams that serve them. All added beauracracy that can be dispensed with and will save £££££'s
  12. Totally agree with you. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  13. Moved from Peckham Rye to Goose Green.
  14. Got caught up in the roadwork delays earlier this afternoon. They are digging up one half of the road around the roundabout if that makes sense and all traffic has to use the other half with traffic lights controlling the flow. Avoid if yo can, probably added 20 mins to the journey time.
  15. DD, "Rejoice rejoice. It's a pity he and his fellow clowns were completely annihilated at the ballot box. I mean they were doing so well after all 🙃🙃" At least the economy and unemployment weren't in the mess they are now. What is it, give the public sector a whopping pay increase with no strings attached, double the black hole and then blame it on the last Govt. Give me strength. Rachel from accounts shouldn't be anywhere near the economy. The final straw was increasing employer NI contributions and look how that's worked out. Month on month both inflation and unemployment have risen. Won't be long before inflation and u/e are exceeding 5%, but guess what, They'll blame Sunak and go. Lets have a snap election right NOW, then see how poorly Starmer, Reeves and Rainer do. They're already plotting to get rid of Starmer, and if you think its bad now, you ain't seen nothing yet. Oh and did I mention Starmer wanting to stop Freedom of Speech............................................Normal people can see right through what him and co are doing, great at spending other peoples money, him and co don't have = bankruptcy. We'll just repeat the economic collapse that happened in Greece and wasn't it in Italy as well?
  16. Simply, NO. The previous Government increased the age as to when State Pension is paid. The consequence is that the the Freedom Pass is delayed by two years. Therefore every reason to enable those aged 60+ (as I believe that was the age for women to originally retire), hence the 60+ Oyster card compensates for that. I make no political inference in what I have said, thus do not derail this thread.

    Taxes

Reeves says she's in charge and no no's Rayners plan, what happens now?
  18. "What's worse is that the perceived 20 billion black hole has increased to 30 billion in a year. Is there a risk that after 5 years it could be as high as 70 billion ???" Why is it perceived, Reeves is responsible for doubling the "black hole" to £20b through the public sector pay increases. You can't live beyond your means and when you try you go bankrupt pdq. In 4 yrs time if this Govt survives that long and the country doesn't go bust before then, in 2029 I dread to think the state the country will be in. At least Sunak and co had inflation back to 2% with unemployment being stable and not rising.
  19. I won't bother posting useful information, you can all find out yourselves from whatever other source reports or publishes it.
  20. don't you mean migrate not immigrate
  21. broken belt ???????????
  22. My original post, copying what The Evening Standard was non political. I was not making nor intending to make any political statement out of the article, merely reporting what was printed. If people want a political rant, fine, but GO START A NEW THREAD and don't derail this one. In future I won't bother posting useful information, you can all find out yourselves from whatever other source reports or publishes it.
