  1. Deleted because I was being petty.
  2. Good luck with ?em this week LE! And don?t lie please. You?re smart and tenacious enough to make it without becoming one of them. Be one of the good guys. Sorry I know I shouldn?t try to impose my moral standpoints on others but I really feel that there is still place for decent principles in the working world. If however you go down the other route I?m sure some of my colleagues could give some good advice on how to lie. A slimier bunch of Tory career politicians you could not have the displeasure of meeting. They spend their days boasting at the top of their voices about the lies they have told to get where they are. That?s when they aren?t expressing their disdain for the people that voted for them or anyone who isn?t a self-serving, right-wing, shitehawk with no social conscience. Lying in the pub or on silly internet fora is a totally different matter though and a skill that when done well is an art which is a pleasure to behold.
  3. ok I'm going to stop now.
  4. you see because personal and personnel sound the same and this thread id about getting a job...
  5. And FYI, Who the fuck uses stupid TLAs like OTT? Arseholes !
  6. Rosie as I?m sure you have gleaned from my further posts I was being a bit OTT and took the piss out of myself for being so. Just setting the tone with general generalisations, etc. No need to take personal* offence. *or is that personnel?
  7. Why thank you old chap. *Offers a ?significant? handshake and rustles his copy of The Times.* Now who else can I set to rights...
  8. I?ve never lied in order to get a job or as part of any job. Even when I worked as a barman and I had to deal with the fukwits who are the general public on a daily basis. If you want to be a sales arse of some kind or some city slave or PR fucker go ahead and lie but if you want to be one of the decent people make it a general principle that you don?t lie, ever. Sorry, being emphatic but I?ve had too much brandy.
  9. Don?t lie about it. It?s not worth the repercussions. The fact that your salary is "laughable" as you say, wont effect how they think of you as a candidate. There are reasons for that, being newly qualified etc. I have interviewed plenty of people and honesty backed up by qualifications and experience is more important than them showing off. I?m sure this is different in some lines of work but you aren?t applying for a job at Foxtons or some recruitment consultancy. Also, and I know this sounds shit, but if they know they can pay you a grand or 2 less than the next candidate it may just land you the job. Sounds crap I know but it may just pay off in the long run and you will be one rung up if you decide to change jobs again in a few months.
  10. He is perhaps a Buddhist and apologising to the tree because his dog has just relived itself on it. No?
  11. Well that?s just cynical.
  12. On the subject of annoying undisciplined little shits, here?s what the Daily Mash makes of teachers? request (or was it a demand?) for a pay-rise. "You can have a 10% pay rise when your schools stop churning out a seemingly endless supply of rude, lazy, violent, stupid, little SHITS.?
  13. I agree that people should stop harassing the OP for a description. She did her best. But what are you on about with this, ?What will you do with it - even if a description worthy of a Nobel Prize for Literature was posted up here surely it's a police matter...?? If they are local kids people may know them and they could then go to the police.

  15. She'll need one with all those kids.
  16. I think chav describes a certain subculture more than background. I know siblings where one is most definitely and openly a chav and the other is definitely not. Same background, different approach to life. It has something to do with a lack of self respect and shit dress sense.
  17. I remember being a child very clearly. I remember the daily narcotic mix of excitement, emotions, temptations and challenges. I also remember getting hidings and knowing exactly why I was receiving them. While unpleasant they were never traumatic. They never made me doubt how my parents felt about me. I always preferred them to these other contrived kinds of punishment like having TV rights revokes. My sister went more for that kind of stuff and therefore my parents went that route with her. Me I preferred knowing that if I overstepped the mark I would get a smack. We all knew where we stood with that arrangement. Having said that I didn?t get hit very often. For one I don?t think my dad liked doing it very much and secondly I like to think I was encouraged to be intelligent and creative, which meant that I didn?t get caught that often. When it comes to schools I don?t see a major problem with the principle of a system of caning if implemented properly. But going through a schooling system where it was used liberally I saw it being abused all too often by power mad arsehole teachers.

Now if the reproductive process involved being able to build effective human relationships and perhaps a basic knowledge of long division we may be better off.

Children have a right > to expect encourangement from their parents. If you?re smack a child in order to shock them or exercise some kind of power over them you are missing the point completely and don't understand discipline. Likewise you should never hit a child in anger. There is a difference between discipline and abuse. All the most robust, truly decent and kind people I know come from homes with decent robust parents who, as well as supporting and encouraging them, used a proper system of discipline. Corporal punishment was an optional part of this even if it was rarely or even never used. But if the type of people who think that biting a child to show it what happens when it bites someone else or give a kid a good smack because they have pissed them off insist on reproducing then we are probably better off banning it to protect the children from these idiots.
  20. Lauren Laverne. I dunno, summat about northern girls. And punk rock.
  21. I get a lot of my news online and often feel that in order to get a balanced view of what is going on I have to read the BBC, Times, Guardian and Independent websites.
  22. I don?t see a problem with this kettling business in an actual riot situation when the other options are direct confrontation of some sort. What seems to have been happening thought is that the police have used it just because there is a protest not because said protest has got out of hand. Could be wrong but that is the impression I get from the people I have spoken to who were there.
  23. I agree that most of the broadsheets are politically affiliated in some way and therefore like political parties can?t really be taken seriously. But the Metro actually being considered as some kind of paper? Seriously? I read it about once a week when I need a distraction on the train and it really takes journalism to a whole new level of shit. A level that has only been matched since the Lite and London Paper were spawned from the cesspit of ad-money hungry newsprint pulp.
