I was just agreeing with citizen about our taxes being our contribution to society. But on that point it also makes the government (all forms and levels) accountable for where our money goes. If suddenly a new revenue stream is needeed that wasn't needed in the past I want a fucking good explanation why. And it also means that the people have an obligation to hold them to account.
  3. We employ the government to administer our society.
  4. Sit on a still lit Gauloises on the way to work this morning Azul? Or kept awake last night by your neighbour watching 'allo 'allo?
  5. Few. That was a bit of a political rant the like of which I haven?t indulged in for a while. Anyway kford, I agree that at this stage they should be encouraging people to use bikes rather than discouraging them. Although I do thing that there should be some way of encouraging folks to use smaller bikes.
  6. Dam commie smurfs.

Ditto car > parking charges I have to strongly disagree with you there. Over the last 5 years central government has consistently cut funding to local government. This has forced councils to up council tax for one but also to seek out as many other forms of revenue as possible. So all these new charges for service that are being brought in are local government trying to cover its costs because it is not getting the tax money it used. Therefore it forms part of our tax burden. One that I personally resent because the shortfall is largely due to this country?s current overseas conquests. It also seems funny to me that nobody seems to notice that our current economic situation coincides coincidentally with over half a decade of pointless war. (Veering wildly off topic there but anyway) Anyway as a matter of principle it is very important that people make the connection that tax is A CHARGE FOR A SERVICE. You pay your tax to the government, they then use that money to provide you with roads, sanitation, health services etc. In return the general public doesn?t rise up and string the PM up from a tree, to use a simple metaphor but essentially that?s the deal.
  8. kford. Yeah coz I wasn't being sarcastic in any way.
  9. And the cost of keeping a bike running? Many people use bikes to commute into work because it is the cheapest and easiest option. If you start charging them the same price as a bus journey (with a monthly pass) why shouldn?t they just take the bus? I mean there is plenty of space on the busses and trains for a few thousand more commuters. They aren?t filled to capacity at all. Oh and the uk isn?t already hugely taxed for a comparatively low level of service delivery compared to most other industrialised nations. Fuckit lets charge ?em ?5 a day and up the congestion charge while we?re at it.
  10. Anyone remember Duck Tales? Although if I am going to be honest I was already a teenager when that was on.
  11. Truthfully shocking although in our defence men own a quarter of the amount of clothes that women do.

For the full 10 points you would have to start from the begining, which used to go a little something like this: Dashing and daring Courageous and caring Faithful and friendly With stories to share All through the forest They sing out in chorus Shagging your women And drinking your beeerrrrrrr.
  13. 8 pm on a Saturday Regular crowd shuffles in There's an old man sitting next to me No that's not it.
  14. Ten points to anyone who can still sing the whole of the theme song to the Gummie Bears.
  15. Well this thread is asking the question, ?Are you a gastro sexual?? whereas the other one seems to be exploring the nature of gastrosexuality. Although in any event it has already started to degenerate into 3rd rate jokes about sitting on egg whisks or having unfortunate accidents involving food processors.
  16. I can?t see it catching on around here. Most London kitchens are too cramped for you to have a proper go at the old marital duties.
  17. Broad's cameo at the end there was a definite positive for the England team though.
  18. Does this apply to this newfangled bottom cleavage the young ladies seem to be sporting these days?
  19. Is it worth mentioning that Ambrose is gone?
  20. Cool. Can I still borrow that book please MP?
  21. ?Dude I think that guy said he?s from Cameroon.? ?Maybe he has some marshmallows.?
  22. Yeah I?ve never got that either. ?Wanna fight?? ?No thanks I think I?ll just sit here and eat these marshmallows thanks. Has anyone seen my fags? Ooh look a butterfly. Where? No not heard of it mate. Thank god for these shades. Funny things faces don?t you think? Have you ever listened to the way Hendrix uses a wah pedal? No I mean really listened. Hey do you think we can get some more marshmallows??
  23. It really is quite precious how you all think that selection is going to make a difference to the inevitable outcome of this series.
  24. Ok. I think a 1:30 start was probably a bit premature. I think we should aim to leave the George Canning at around 3pm. Those of us who want to have some food first can meet there earlier. I have drawn up a timetable below. This is just a guide though and shouldn?t be taken as prescriptive. Everyone carries walkie-talkies these days so we can use those to let people know where we are. Any comments, suggestions, objections or insults about the route below? 1. George Canning. Arrive when you like but we will aim to leave at about 3pm 2. Hoopers. 3:15pm ? 4pm 3. Gowlette. 4:15pm ? 5pm 4. East Dulwich Tavern. 5:15pm - 6pm 5. Drum or The Uplands 6:15pm ? 7pm (We will have to play this by ear as the Drum is a wee bit small if there are too many of us so if we cannot be accommodated there to the uplands with us) 6. Clockhouse 7:15pm ? 8pm 7. Crystal Palace Tavern 8:15pm ? 9pm 8. Plough 9pm
