  1. DaveR you are of course correct but that wasn't my argument. I was questioning the wisdom of allowing property to be used as a commodity in such a way in Britain at the moment considering the housing shortage. Acedout you are missing the point entirely.
  2. Encouragingly my experiment last night with cross dressing seems to have been pretty convincing.
  3. Properties bought for letting become ?occupied? by the very people who can?t afford a first home because there are too few homes available due to other people owning more than one. But if you want to insist on 1 + 1 not being equal to 2 go ahead.
  4. I know what you mean Sean. You can?t go for a country stroll in Surrey these days without being confronted by knife wielding maniacs running around all on fire and such.
  5. See what I did there? No? Oh well.
  6. It is not an article at all. It?s a letter.
  7. DaveR Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The reason rents in London > have been broadly rising is because, despite > increasing supply, demand has been even higher. > Why? Because people want to live here, because > there are jobs here etc. Demand has been going up because the properties that should be being sold to first time buyers are being bought by people as buy-to-let investments, thereby forcing younger people to rent. It?s not rocket science. This is exactly why many other countries regulate the buy-to-let market.
  8. "Why should they be hit further if the wish to have a second home?" If someone is intelligent enough to make enough money to have 2 houses surely they are smart enough to figure this particular conundrum out.
  9. 'ey I founda eet funny Jahliano.
  10. I don?t know, having been born a few centuries after the time of indentured labour, my Grandmother worked half days in the post office and my Grandfather sold cars.
  11. Strange bloody Australians! Now if only they could have helped out my friend Jenny? Jenny Tailier.
  12. Listen it is clearly the mixture of high levels of both olive oil and coffee that causes cowardice. Personally I think fascism is caused by sausages.
  13. I think what you're talking about is a ventilator. They keep airflow going in the van and run off the movement of air not the vans power.
  14. As a student I would often rely on pre made pasta sauces, usually this one: Although sometimes as a change would have this one: These fine meals were often finished off with a dessert of + EDITED: Because I spent my student days engaging in activates which made me eat strange combinations of food instead of learning the difference between a desert and a dessert.
  15. No need to have a go. I don?t whinge that much.
  16. Spartans were the citizens of Sparta which was one of the city states of ancient Greece. They were famed as being particularly tough hence our current colloquial use of the word. Nothing to do with Plebeian though. The word Pleb comes from Plebeian which was one of the classes within ancient Roman society. It referred to the general people who were neither slaves nor servants but not part of the aristocracy either. So the sort of Working and Middle classes who made up most of society. If I remember correctly the next ?class? up was Equestrian which basically just meant you were probably rich enough to own horses. Come on people don?t they teach you classical history in school.
  17. yes there is and some people react quite badly. Well they basically just get legless and feel ill very quickly. Thing is it is different for different people. I have always been able to have 2 or 3 drinks while on antibiotics and not feel that bad but I know some people who can't even have 1. If you are unsure either abstain or test it out before hand.
  18. The difference is the French don't care what the English call them. And likewise conversly.
  19. Dude chill. I think you're getting a little strung out. In general i think you have quite a lot of support from folks around town. Don't let the comments of a few people get you down.
  20. Perhaps you have been in England too long Azul and you are starting to catch it, the English that is. One of the first symptoms is an irrational dislike of French people. Have you recently considered wearing a pink shirt or been preoccupied with the weather?
  21. I would love to know how they get the spaghetti out from the middle of the bucatini in the first place. Must be similar to the process that they use to get the stones out of olives.
  22. So I don't have to bother with eating 5 differnt shapes of pasta a day? Thank god I was starting to feel a bit bloated.
  23. The potato is directly responsible for this
