  1. LA, does that mean that they admit that they applied for funding and that they were awarded funding and then decided they didn't want it after all, but only once t was too late for someone else to be granted that money, or possibly that they never applied for it but the council embarrassed them by awarding them some money anyway? It doesn't make much sense or seem equitable whichever way it is looked at tbh
  2. Cheaper to just put the garden waste in the green bin
  3. I think "Clean Air Dulwich" also sometimes call themselves "Clean Air for Dulwich" which probably doesn't help, but the council have a lot of egg on their face here (once again)
  4. The problem with diesel (as the labour government that led the dash to diesel neglected to tell us) is NOx emissions, not carbon emissions. If people are concerned about carbon specifically there are other far more anti-social activities with a high carbon foot print that get completely ignored. Like dog ownership. A typical dog has the same annual carbon foot print as a range rover. And many dog owners have no civic responsibility at all, leaving sh*t all over the pavements and parks and letting their dogs p*ss on people's private property and all over the street. Why aren't people going round deflating dogs too?
  5. There is no way that opinion cost 28,000. Even from a QC it would be no more than 2,000 on such a simple question. How much have the council spent on this disaster though? ?750,000? ?1,000,000? More? Would be interesting to see the final figure for this unmitigated shambes.
  6. It won't be down to the government in the end, it will just be a commercial reality that you won't be able to buy an internal combustion engine any more and shortly afterwards you won't be able to buy fuel for one. Sorry that your "anti-pollution" campaign to stop people richer than you from owning cars has failed.
  7. If you look at what they have allowed above the old House of Tippler (alongside the M and S development) then it seems anything goes on Lordship Ln now. Sorry about that.
  8. "Going inhouse." So things will no doubt get even better lol.
  9. So there's a camera rather than an actual barrier? Does that mean they will be fining residents (again) who need to use their car for whatever reason instead of taking granny to hospital appointments on her electric push bike?
  10. You can see from Google street view that weren't pneumatic tube traffic counters on the road in 2019:
  11. You cant' really second guess Tooley St, unfortunately La. E.g. they recently allowed House of Tippler to close so that it could be replaced with an extraordinarily large block of flats and a shop selling trinkets. That was the last decent bar with live music on Lordship Lane and it is gone forever.
  12. The leak is coming up through the road in four different places. It has been like this for nearly a month. Some kind soul keeps unblocking the drain.
  13. If the residents of Malbourne Grove don't want this market then I will vote in favour of it. Let's see how they like having their street ruined by people who live elsewhere.
  14. Who is left after these categories of patients? Spritely healthy people who don't need a doctor at all? People with long term conditions: "Requires improvement" Families, children and young people: "Requires improvement" Working age people (including those recently retired and students): "Requires improvement"
  15. James Barber also listened when a consultation proved that closing Melbourne Grove would be disastrous and took it no further.
  16. this Mayor doesn't seem to understand that point. You would think he might have learned a lesson from this own bitter disappointment at the absolute failure of the ULEZ to raise the revenue he needed to bail out TFL.
  17. Boris Johnson will not be the Prime Minister by the time the local elections come round. He will be long gone.
  18. Https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/jan/18/heather-watson-australian-open-tennis-second-round-but-dart-crashes-out
  19. I see the Crown and Greyhound have asked for double yellow lines outside their pub so they can get cars in and out more easily.
  20. It makes them look just as bent as the Tories / 10 Downing St in my view.
  21. Are you saying they will close the children's playground for this, during half term week?
  22. "I do think they'll question why we did so little to discourage car use generally." I disagree with that too. In about 15 years from now cars will be fully automated and electric. The internal combustion engine will be a museum piece. There will be very little pollution and no road traffic accidents whatsoever. And in the future beyond that people will use personal aviation machines which will no doubt still irritate all the penny farthing fetishists. But you can't hold back progress. It's innate and essential to our survival.
  23. I don't think future generations will judge anyone on the LTNs in East Dulwich either way. Its a microscopically small project that negatively impacts a miniscule number of people and positively benefits even fewer people. No one outside the people living here, now will care about this issue or comment on it at all in ten years time.
  24. Labour came knocking on my road yesterday. Told them to get stuffed, it was too late to listen now. They didn't seem all that surprised tbh.
