I see the Crown and Greyhound have asked for double yellow lines outside their pub so they can get cars in and out more easily.

Bulky waste collection issues
CPR Dave replied to LordshipLaneResident's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
this is all appalling -
It makes them look just as bent as the Tories / 10 Downing St in my view.
-
Are you saying they will close the children's playground for this, during half term week?
-
"I do think they'll question why we did so little to discourage car use generally." I disagree with that too. In about 15 years from now cars will be fully automated and electric. The internal combustion engine will be a museum piece. There will be very little pollution and no road traffic accidents whatsoever. And in the future beyond that people will use personal aviation machines which will no doubt still irritate all the penny farthing fetishists. But you can't hold back progress. It's innate and essential to our survival.

I don't think future generations will judge anyone on the LTNs in East Dulwich either way. Its a microscopically small project that negatively impacts a miniscule number of people and positively benefits even fewer people. No one outside the people living here, now will care about this issue or comment on it at all in ten years time.

Southwark Labour councilors door to door visits
CPR Dave replied to trinidad's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Labour came knocking on my road yesterday. Told them to get stuffed, it was too late to listen now. They didn't seem all that surprised tbh. -
Beulah demonstrates perfectly how selfish these people are.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: ?The world?s first Ultra Low Emission Zone is an essential measure to help improve air quality in our city, protect the health of Londoners, and lengthen our lead as the greatest city on earth. ... Together we can ensure everyone who lives, works in, or visits our city has the cleanest possible air to breathe.? It's another flawed Boris Johnson idea that local Labour government have adopted with glee abandon.
-
An Ultra Low Emission Zone that has pollution levels so high that people are asked to stay inside and not to exercise. What a stonking success. Well done.

Cyclists seem to be very, very selfish round here.

They aren't kingmaker but they can help co-ordinate a tactical vote to drain the swamp. If you're worried about where their supporters come from, you can check on their own map:https://www.onedulwich.uk/supporters There are more than enough supporters there to swing the vote one way or another.

I want to see the Lib Dems get out of the blocks early with some sensible policies that all residents buy in to. They are beating Labour and the Tories elsewhere and are much better resourced than an independent would be to win and to bring back community interaction into council policy.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
CPR Dave replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think it's too late to stop the LTNs. At least when James was councillor he would assess the merits of scheme fairly and gauge public opinion too. Remember - he actually blocked the closure of Melbourne Grove South when he was councillor because he could see it was counter-productive, would cause more pollution than it would save and it was not in the interest of the community. He did that in spite of seemingly being in favour of the scheme, and agreeing to commission a report at the request off the Melbourne Grove Traffic Action Group into the benefits of closing the road. Those are the sort of difficult decisions that a good councillor has to get the balance right on and James Barber did because he was actually intelligent enough to look at all sides of the issues. -
Heh, imagine turning up at the Ivy House expecting it to be an Ivy franchise.
-
i did. I won't be fooled again.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
CPR Dave replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hello James Would you consider standing again in this year's elections? This thread is a great reminder of all the good work you did for our community. -
So the LTNs are here to stay forever. Great. We can still kick out the shower that brought them in, though. Do we need to vote Lib Dem to do that? Would be amazing if some co-ordinated tactical voting happened to teach councillors a lesson about listening to voters.
-
You've wasted a huge amount of your time not answering the question you quoted there pal.
-
Agree jazzer. I could see them using a new bus stop as an excuse to drop those because TFL doesn't have enough money to pay for them any more. It's a race to the bottom on public transport in London at the moment. Shameful.
-
So for the thousands of people who objected to the LTNs in East Dulwich and were ignored by Southwark and dismissed by the East Dulwich Councillors, what option is there at the next election? Will One Dulwich stand on a promise of removing the LTNs and starting again with a scheme that works? I would vote for them if they did.
