  1. A nice surprise to see swanky new buses with double doors on the 484 today. I don't think I ever saw so many of them going up and down Dog Kennel Hill in it's history.
  2. There are times when the P13 warrants the 20 min gap between buses when I've had the whole bus to myself, then as mentioned they're so packed you can't get on. Longer single deckers, such as the ones used on the 484 from today (now also operated by Abellio) could be a solution if they can't add an extra bus to the peak hour.
  3. LOROL have sorted out the platform indicator problem now at Forest Hill and HOP.
  4. Until Rye Lane re-opens, the P13 is diverted along Lyndhurst Way and Peckham High Street, not serving Peckham Rye station nor Hanover Park. Despite the bus running along the whole of Queens Road towards New Cross, it's still very unreliable during the peaks especially and should be at least 4 buses an hour during those periods, alas it was reduced to 3 when the contract moved from London Central to Abellio London.
  5. It might be a "mere" four stops, but especially during the morning and evening peaks, the buses would get stuck in the traffic jam along Honor Oak Park to Brockley Rise. The 172 option suggested above may be a more viable option, but also terminating at the Forest Hill Tavern with the 63 as there is no space at Goose Green for a bus stand. (There used to be one on the side street next to the EDT for short running 37s and the 176 when it used to terminate at GG many years ago)
  6. If you don't fancy walking up the hill to HOP. 363 to Lordship Lane by the army cadet centre, then 176, 185 or 197 to FH or P4 to HOP.
  7. The London Overground managed stations on the other hand, i.e. Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park have Oyster readers at the ticket office as part of their contract with TfL.
  8. Poundland is finally coming to Peckham on the site of Blockbuster Video on Rye Lane.
  9. Barry, just to let you know if you don't already, the Oyster reader on the larger self service ticket machine at ED isn't working. (I wondered why people were starting to use the smaller card only machine!)
  10. Hi Barry, I know Denmark Hill isn't under your remit, but do you know if the station's being transferred to LOROL or staying with Southeastern in 2012?
  11. DJKillaQueen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The ITV news have just reported it. Indeed, the dopey newsreader claimed we're in EAST London.
  12. I saw the actress who played Di Barker from Bad Girls on a 176, she got off at Goose Green. Jenny Eclair and husband in Sainsburys DKH, Jo Brand waiting for a bus on LL opposite the barracks and Mickey Flanagan in Sainsburys. Years ago, it was ridiculously easy to spot cast members of The Bill, including the actor who played DS Roach talking his pets to the vet opposite the Harvester or riding his bike around ED and Peckham. Also two other cast members who were using the cashpoint at Lloyds TSB. My mother also spotted Cathy Shipton (Casualty's Duffy) in Rye Lane years ago.
  13. To clarify the First Capital Connect services run from H&I to Welwyn or Hertford from the underground platforms next to the Victoria Line on Mondays to Fridays only.
  14. With the delay to the ELL extension to Clapham, there might be a reprieve for the current Southern South London Line between Victoria and London Bridge after the May 2012 timetable commences. However capacity at London Bridge may be an issue by then. If not, Southeastern may have to provide trains for Wandsworth Road and Clapham High Street until London Overground can start services.
  15. The trains tend to empty once they go to Canada Water, I boarded a train at Shadwell last week and there were only two of us on the platform.
  16. Hi Jack, no that's fine thanks. I'm more interested in when and why the LL Estate was changed from SE21 to 22. I've seen archives of when the estate was part of SE21 in the sixties, but no specific date of when the GPO decided to move them over to ED.
  17. We've just received our post at 6.45pm on Tuesday evening at the Harvester end of LL. Anyone else receive their post as late as this today?
  18. Without the historical references, I've always found it hard to declare where the LLE actually is? East Dulwich, Dulwich? Just outside Forest Hill (as the station is nearer than ED/ND) etc. That's despite Dulwich Park being next door! Not helped being on the boundary of SE21 with SE23 and SE26 nearby.
  19. Thanks for that information. Incidentally I remember reading that the Estate area was in the SE21 postcode area, even after it opened (mid 50s?) but when did it become part of SE22?
  20. After looking at Southwark's old map site. I see Dulwich had a fire station where the BT exchange is and if I've looked correctly, there were houses on Lordship Lane where the Estate now is, with a sports field at the Common end.
  21. From what I could see, it involved a Clarkes of London coach and a car. The road reopened by 5.35.
  22. Bus routes tonight that are curtailed or diverted in the SE22 area (data from the TfL website) 176: Tottenham Court Road to Camberwell only. 63: Kings Cross to Peckham Rye. 363: Elephant to Honor Oak. P4: Diverted away from Honor Oak. BBC London 94.9 also reports that buses in our area will finish earlier tonight than normal.
  23. Keep an eye on the East Dulwich Live Departure board. http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/en/s/ldbboard/dep/EDW
  24. Had to abandon a trip to DKH Sainsburys after getting stuck in traffic by Heber Road. 12 and 197 are running normally. P13 is diverted along Lordship Lane and not running along Waverley or Underhill Road.
  25. Southern are planning a normal service tomorrow from ED and Peckham Rye, which should see the re-opening of the Inner South London Line between Victoria and London Bridge.
