Found the Virgin/T-Mobile signal poor in Grove Vale at 2.30. -
Oyster on the trains from 2nd Jan
Bic Basher replied to ed_pete's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's a petty way of protecting their penalty fares scheme by the sound of it, it will catch out plenty of passengers used to how the scheme works on the Tube and DLR. I suspect one of the reasons why it took so long for the operators to accept Oyster was introducing the OEP, which TfL don't use on their services. If you don't have the permit, I'd assume that the gate wouldn't open, so that the staff can charge you the penalty fare, although I can see passengers winning their appeals as it can be proved they have the right amount of money to cover their fare regardless of the OEP. -
Oyster on the trains from 2nd Jan
Bic Basher replied to ed_pete's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The paper one day travelcards are still available from ED. At ED station today, the ticket machine now has a notice saying that "This is an Oyster PAYG station" Incidentally, if you use Forest Hill, which is managed by London Overground, you can use Oyster PAYG at the gates, but the ticket office and machines are not Oyster enabled, so you'll have to top-up at local newsagents instead. -

Bic Basher replied to trentk69's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Managed to get a train to Forest Hill before London Bridge closed, then walked to LL. -

This character was also on the Lordship Lane Estate during the renovation works a couple of years back. -
former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
Bic Basher replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I thought Croydon based C®apita had the contract for housing benefit/council tax collection before Southwark took it in-house again then reawarded it to Liberata? -
SE22 magazine - who in SE22 actually gets it?

Never received it (Lordship Lane Estate) but I always get the Southwark Council propaganda mag. -
ruffers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > 4 an hour! Daytime presumably (I hope) It's currently 6 an hour to London Bridge which works out at every 10 mins off peak. Reduced to 4 from May. (although 6 at morning peak) We currently also have through services to Charing Cross Mon/Sat evenings and all day Sunday which are being axed with the introduction of the new timetable on Sunday.

Ruffers, FH is now managed by London Overground in preparation for the introduction of the East London Line in May. I'm a regular user of the station (as I live down the wrong end of LL), they've put in a new footbridge, but isn't operational until the lifts are installed which won't be til late spring, so exiting platform 2 is via the subway in Perry Vale. The shelters have also been removed, although there is a temp one on Platform 1. From May, they'll be 4 trains per hour to London Bridge (same as ED is currently) with 8 to Dalston on the ELL.

(odds for the Dulwich & West Norwood seat at the next) General Election
Bic Basher replied to shadsy's topic in The Lounge
I imagine the majority of the Tory/Lib Dem vote for this seat will come from Dulwich with Labour the majority in the Lambeth wards. -

Snap, I was invited to the coffee morning too. College Ward has Dawson Heights, Lordship Lane Estate, Sydenham Hill Estate and Kingswood Estate which you'd think would be Labour strong parts of the area. -
(odds for the Dulwich & West Norwood seat at the next) General Election

Indeed, Gerry Bowden was the MP until 1992 of the old Dulwich constituency. Tessa won the same seat in 1997 and then won the merged Dulwich and West Norwood one in 2001. However there is yet ANOTHER boundary change in 2010 where only Village (SE21), College (SE21/SE22) and East Dulwich wards will be part of Tessa's patch along with a big patch of Lambeth. The rest of our postcode transfers over to Harriet Harman's Peckham and Camberwell constituency. The Tory vote seems to be at it's strongest in Village and College wards. -
Great news about Oyster PAYG, something which all TOC's should've agreed to years ago. Anyway, I've been reading conflicting reports that each TOC including Southern will charge it's own Oyster PAYG fares instead of the current integrated paper ticket pricing we currently have based on the travelcard zonal system. Any truth in this and when will publicity be available on how much we'll be charged from Jan 2nd?

General question Barry. I bought a off-peak return which was labeled "Web Off-peak return" today to London Terminals from Forest Hill (which I understand has been taken over by LOROL) which the route had Southern only printed on the ticket which I haven't seen before. I continued my journey to Charing Cross as per usual by Southeastern. Am I liable for a penalty fare between LB and CX?

Trains from Nunhead to Blackfriars?
Bic Basher replied to The Nappy Lady's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The Sevenoaks line services terminate at Kentish Town Thameslink while work is being carried out at Blackfriars. Some peak services are extended to Luton or Bedford. Blackfriars mainline station is still open, but the tube station is closed until work is completed.
