jim_the_chin
Nice to see the plans - ?850k is a bit mad, but not for ED I suppose, or for getting a unique and famous house.http://www2.vebra.com/HarveyWheeler/SALES/DETAILS/002A0004614.pdf Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1014-grand-designs-house-for-sale/ Share on other sites

*Bob*
And the best thing is: if anything goes wrong with it - you know where the builders live. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1014-grand-designs-house-for-sale/#findComment-26182 Share on other sites
macroban
In what sense is this "sustainable"?Is its planned life-span as long as the 125 years and counting of East Dulwich terrace houses?Looks pretty flimsy to me. Asset
It's referring to the sourcing of the materials.Personally I think it would be more 'eco-friendly' if they had incorporated solar panels, ground sourced heating, grey water recycling etc etc. Not sure if anything like this has been done. macroban
Should have been built on a wooden raft.Strange these clever folk didn't think of this. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1014-grand-designs-house-for-sale/#findComment-26218 Share on other sites
Brendan
Apparently the workmanship is very, very good. It was all hand made by a group of professional carpenters. Although if I had ?850K to spend I would use it to buy myself a small African county or perhaps a Pacific island. *Bob*
My guess is that it'll go for more than the asking price. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1014-grand-designs-house-for-sale/#findComment-26225 Share on other sites
Ganapati
Have you seen what you can get in ED for 850K these days? If I had that sort of $$$ I'd definitely choose this house over its competitors. Jeremy
I also wouldn't be surprised if it went for over the asking price. 700k seems to be the going rate for a 4 bed terrace (in good condition), so 850k for this house - which frankly looks awesome - seems like a relative bargain. Andyng
didnt it cost ?800k to build both on grand designs? If so I would build my own Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1014-grand-designs-house-for-sale/#findComment-26540 Share on other sites
Andyng
didnt it cost ?800k to build both on grand designs? If so I would rather build my own rather pay full price. *Bob*
Indeed. But then there is the small matter of having some vision, designing it, financing it, sourcing the right materials and seeing a potentially nightmarish build through to completion. These things explain why most people don't 'just build their own'. Otherwise, we'd all be millionaire property developers by now. Andyng Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> didnt it cost ?800k to build both on grand> designs? Andyng
Well I'm an Interior Designer and I design Hotel Interiors for a living so can put the drawing package together myself and use the contractors Ive used in the past.Building my own house would be something I would do oneday probably have to sell my place first .Maybe in a few years. The joinery work on those two houses I have to say do look great. Muttley
Has anyone seen that the Landells Road Grand-Design house is for sale again, at ?850k. Actually, it's not clear, is this:(a) The 'spare' house that Talisman built that has been on the market since July(b) Ditto, but being sold on by whoever bought it after just a few weeks ownership© Talisman's house itself. So, what's the story? thebeard
Not surprised if it fell through at that price! You can get a house in Dulwich Village for that with a proper garden and views from the windows too.Mind there are people who will buy any old rubbish if it's been on telly!
