Nutty, can I ask two questions

What sort of pace/distance are you running at currently?

Assuming we are of a similar pace (Se my runs here

Would you want a training partner for some of your runs?

Eric

Maybe we need to create a special forum wave for when running so potentially unable to say "do you post?!" ??

Have also realised that the 3 of you I spoke to yesterday - I didn't ask what you're names on here were so still not sure who I met.... not doing 3 consecutive nights out for my birthday next year - realising brain can't handle it!!!

Buggie - we had realised the same thing as you walked back from the cafe but didn't get to meet again - citizened was the gentleman reclining on the ground, his partner in the deck chair beside him (a lurker on here) and I was the white haired loon in the other deckchair

Eric - you are way out of my running league!

Thanks for the offer but:

a) I'm only running between 5-10k a session as it's part of a triathlon training (so quite often do 20-40k on a bike first then run)

b) The triathlon I've been working toward is this weekend so training will be much less often afterwards

c) I hate running, maybe because I weigh so much it hurts! (so re (b) unlikely to do so much running in the schedule post-tri)

d) I have a baby due in September so suspect all training may go out of the window to make time for sleeping :)

Again thanks for the offer, I suspect there are a few more accomplished runners on here who may join you if you start a dedicated post....

I like the sound of this wave - any ideas anyone?

I can go slower!!!

OK, no problem, didn;t know was that close. I'd like to do a tri, but swimming skills are non-existant. Having lessons so i can do a descent pace are on my "To Do" list.

I run with Dulwich Park Runners (Beginners lessons starting soon - Watch that website) , so run with the fast peeps quite regular, but am always looking for others to run with, it just make the runs more enjoyable, even if you don't chat much.

    • I don't know how it works now but my late parents had little money when they were retired (just state pension and they rented their flat) and they used to take their cat to the Blue Cross (In Victoria if I remember correctly) where treatment was free for those who could'nt afford a private vet. I sincerely hope similar is available still because for many elderly their pet is their main source of comfort and company.
    • In a couple of places locally, I have come across this. I am fairly sure that they attempt to do the bill in their head. If you just say , “no, I think it’s x” they start again and get to an agreeable number, or find a calculator. I don’t think it’s a malicious attempt to swindle people. Just not great arithmetic.
    • There are excellent charities like the Greenwich Wildlife Network who will help if you report any concerns with local wildlife. Foxes are wonderful creatures who had been forced into our town and cities and are just doing their best to survive, we should take care of them when we can.
    • Like I thought… prob like that for most of the day.. especially after people had walked their dogs, with friends, relatives  kids…
