Yep that one.

I may be wrong but I am picking up on a certain undertone or sarcasm, obviously I may be wrong, in which case I apologise.

However, do bare in mind that people's enthusiasm for the actual playground may not be too high based on it not actually being fully open yet? And no indication a to when.

Well I think it's probably this (and others too) forum rather than the 'world at large' Moos.

Fair point steve, my nippers have been playng 'around' the cordened off areas for months, wondering when they would get to have full use. I think it's a bit of a shame and a tease on the kids to not get in and JFDI quickly.

Crap British work ethic.

Not to be non-PC here, and I may be wrong, but from what I've heard/read regarding the funding et all of the revamp, someone somewhere has paid ?800,000 for the renovations, when at best I've seen 3 guys digging around, sweeping up debris and throwing it into the grass and generally just living in the middle of the park in the caravan they brought with them.

Strangely reminiscent of the guys that got nicked re-paving my old neighbours driveway a fair few years back.

You are wrong, it isn't ?800,000 for the revamp. I believe it's around the ?240,000 mark and that's for when it's fully finished ie with additional kiddie swings and a other things, not its current state.

It's been delayed for 'elf and safety reasons, the inspector needs a few changes made before he can pass it.

As I said, I may be wrong........about the amount........I'm not however, wrong about the builders.

If it's delayed for good old wrap you in bubble wrap and safety, how come they haven't done more to keep the little'uns out?

Probably best to ask the builders who are loitering around, I expect they'll know more.

Ah right, I assumed the towers/wooden bit had been opened. One man with a wheelbarrow working on it periodically yesterday. A big group of kids from Goose Green Primary were there having a summer picnic and all they could do was peer at the wooden towers through a fence.

    • CPR Dave is anti-dogs. Each to their own  I think my dog has perhaps grown a bit less nervy about the fireworks in the last few weeks, interestingly. Our last dog had no problems with them until he reached old age, when he became petrified.  CPR Dave - it's not just sounds of the metropolis they hate, mine collapses in fear when he hears thunder too
    • There's quite a difference between going for a run around the footpaths and trying to sit quietly for an afternoon in a wide, grassy area and enjoying the peace & nature. The other two grassy areas in the park are used for sports, and both had barriered trackway running through them. The Parkrun had to be cancelled for at least three weeks, iirc. I'm concerned by your continued reference to "the rye" - the event is held in the park, not on the rye (common). There is a big difference, despite the organisers and council artificially amalgamating the whole area when trying to convince everyone that it's only a small area that is closed off. The railings & gates enclosing the park are a big clue...
    • So have you cancelled your contract with InPost / Yodel now? If so, that's probably caused hundreds of parcels to be stuck in limbo, as they've said to me before that they can't redirect them to a different store. I have a parcel that was refused by you twice, the last time on 5/12, and since then there's been no updates, despite me calling them 3 times. They just say it's being investigated, but if they now can't physically deliver to you then that is obviously the issue. So much for shopping for Christmas presents early, looks like I'll never get them now.
    • I thought I noticed the shop being redecorated the other day when I passed. Also the old Romeo Jones had some works going on, I think
