Yeah, Bushells were fantastic when we sold our house through them. They returned calls and everything!

Once the 0% deal goes don't even *think* about using Foxtons AND another estate agent. Foxton's contract states that they are entitled to their cut on sale, NOT if THEY make the sale. That means that if the other estate agent sells your property, Foxtons will still come after you for their commission. You end up paying twice over.

I'd second that, he's been fantastic with my colleague and I for commercial lettings.


I've had a Foxton's sales letter in Ulverscroft Rd. My only experience of them has been as a renter and the fees they charge to tenants are just so high, I think it was about ?370 around this time last year when I was looking in Ealing. Of course, coming from Australia, I was horrified to discover that tenants pay fees in the UK. The industry is regulated in Aust and no fees at all can be charged to tenants (and as a tenant you also don't pay the council tax on your rental property).

This practice is a well established custom of all Estate Agents - not just Foxtons. The commission is usually less if it's a multi agent deal.


Moral - if you don't like to pay commission don't use them to sell your property. With the proliferation of websites, e-bay, YouTube, this forum I am sure the majority of sensible people could cobble together the necessary details, a couple of photographs to market their property and save themselves ?6,000 on the average ?300,000 house / flat sale in ED.

Quite true, it is. Foxtons are more aggressive than others about imposing it though, as is therr right. An Icelandic couple a couple of years ago tried to test the rule and fought it all the way to the Court of Appeal. They lost and were refused permission to appeal to the Lords.

i hope all those letters have gone in the recycling my dears and not your bins!


we got 2 letters even with our lowly se5/se22/se15 boarder address.


i don't care about them, just pleased that the bricked up facade is being opened up. however, wonder what parking is going to be like behind that strip. what with Ludlows' and Wates' beetles and Haarts' minis where will all those 'foxtonmobiles' go?

    • I thought the most they sell in terms of hot food at londis is like pastries and sausage rolls and for hot drinks its like costa coffee but its always a convenience store. Doesn’t look too bad in my opinion considering that shop has been closed down ever since i moved here
    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road.
