Dave is the real deal. KNOWLEDGEABLE - Dave knows about the different muscle groups and the safest ways to exercise them. ATTENTIVE - he studies your body from all angles to ensure your movements are controlled and effective. ENCOURAGING - he's terrific at cheering you on when you're trying to dig deep to complete that last lift. GOAL-ACHIEVING - Dave can see when you've 'outgrown' a weight, which is when he rewards you with a heavier one, often combined with a more taxing set of reps. And he's always SMILING - we chat, we laugh, we have fun together, even when my body's a tsunami of sweat.

Each week, I feel a little more energetic, a little more toned, a little more mobile. I can now touch my toes! I've NEVER been able to touch my toes, even as a kid. This - coupled with steadier, stronger, less crunchy-sounding knees - is one of the most satisfying things to emerge from all that 'sweet pain', as Dave likes to call it. I'm also lifting heavier weights while maintaining a good technique. And I have way more mental stamina and physical endurance than I did several months ago when Dave and I first met. Back then I wobbled like a newborn calf after ten reps of breathing. Today, I wobble like a relatively fit middle-aged man should after being instructed to do non-stop compound exercises.

After the challenges we've all had to face with Covid and lockdowns, my sessions with Dave have kept me buoyed up and focussed. I'm a naturally anxious person, so having a regular exercise routine has helped to keep me calm and spared me from needlessly catastrophising situations.

What else can I say? The man's a ledge - and I'm fitter and healthier because of him.

I am inveterately lazy around exercising, but was feeling my age. Back in November I contacted David to start the weight training I had been told I needed.

Whilst I cannot say that I love exercising as yet, it absolutely is the case that I feel stronger, more flexible and happier with the direction of traffic! David has been patient with me, is always encouraging and positive.

He has also given me a manageable training schedule which even I mostly stick to between our training sessions.

I am really grateful to David for the work to date, and definitely recommend Him to others looking to start or develop an exercise schedule.

I wanted to share my recommendation for Dave, who has been my personal trainer for over a year and helped me to really improve strength and fitness. I'm in my mid 50's and never really worked out with weights before, and Dave introduced me to how to use weights safely as well as the value of short but regular workouts. He has great technical knowledge and pays close attention to ensuring that exercises are correctly completed, and also brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the sessions. Last month Dave started to advise me on a 3 month weight loss programme, designing a calorie counting approach that fits in around my lifestyle, rather than having to totally change it, and providing fantastic motivation and support. I?m really pleased with the results so far. Dave is a top PT, strongly recommended.

The sessions can take place outside in open spaces, parks, inside homes or in gardens. David is based in West Dulwich and works regularly in all the surrounding areas.

I came across this thread in January as I looking for a way to improve my fitness, tone up & get stronger. I knew I needed some help as I had lost confidence due to injuries & I also need a little extra motivation/ support. I turn 30 next year and having taken a 5 year break from exercise, I was determined to ?feel fit before I?m 30?.

Dave has been absolutely fantastic; concentrating on the fundamentals of technique, mobility and consistency - I am so pleased with how far I have come. Day to day I have more energy and even ?enjoy? working out - something I didn?t think was possible. I didn?t have a weight loss goal when I started, but I?ve nearly lost a stone (63kg to 57kg).Dave?s approach has suited me really well, keeping it simple and not feeling like I?d run a marathon or fit for nothing after a session!

I would definitely recommend Dave?s personal training services!

Thanks Nicola,

You?ve done so well, well done!!!

Yes you are right this is proof that you do not have to feel like you have literally just run a marathon and are absolutely worn out, but with slow and controlled exercises, good technique and targeted movements, great results can be achieved, with an overall improvement to your fitness levels, confidence and strength with weight loss, increased mobility, this can be totally achieved without pounding your joints. With this approach this is totally achievable for all fitness levels and ages.

If anyone would like a simple and effective way of working out, lose weight, get stronger, and improve confidence, please get in touch.

David Wilson, Personal Trainer.

David has taught me the best way to get into regular exercise with weights with a laugh and no fuss. I can now transfer skills learnt with him to easily keep up with simple training routines using dumbbell weights at home. I feel stronger, less out of breath, fitter and I’ve steadily lost weight.

I first heard about David in 2020 through a friend of mine.

We met in a local park for a consultation and taster session.

I found David to be very professional and easy to talk to, he listened to me and took time to find out, my needs and what had not worked for me in the past.

I am now no longer overtraining, feeling fitter, stronger and less stressed.

I’ve enjoyed our sessions as they have not left me feeling burnt out, but have been challenging, effective and fun in a calm manner, with a programme tailored for my needs.

What was great about David was that, when I met him I was literally burning myself out with excessive exercises on a daily basis. David taught me how to train smarter in a more effective way incorporating more strength and mobility exercises using good technique and proper form and also the importance of having rest days.

I was a yo-yo dieter and David’s knowledge on weight loss has been great and he has helped me change the way I eat.

I highly recommend David his personal training sessions have been great and he’s been a fun and great person to work with more confidence and less stressed as a result of the sessions.

I started with David a couple of months ago with a lack of motivation, no confidence in myself and a weight which was 108/9 kg. Now I'm 103kg working out at home, eating so much better with loads off motivation and confidence with myself and still aiming to loose more weight but I would have never experience this change in my life if it wasn't for David, with his believe and patience in me he made me enjoy every moment. Thank you David may God bless you for everything you do for all. Jamie B

I started training with Dave last May – my goal was to get fitter and stronger. We have weekly sessions in the park and I really enjoy training outside. Dave’s approach is holistic and flexible and he works with me to focus on what’s important to me. He’s devised really helpful workouts for me in between sessions which has enabled me to build my strength gradually. He’s great work with, really personable and passionate about he does, he changes things up regularly and makes it fun too. He’s introduced me to boxing which I had never done before and it’s honestly now one of the best parts of my PT sessions!

Another recommendation for David I’ve been training with him for almost a year now. It’s great way to stay committed and meet those exercise goals.

He is really flexible will adapt sessions depending on your goals and targets has managed to train me despite a minor injury. Takes time to understand what works best for you.

Sessions are always fun and enjoyable with lots of encouragement rather than shouting!

I'd echo the sentiments above. I discovered Dave through the forum several years ago and only recently took the decision to get in touch with him. I only wish I'd done it sooner.

Some info about me:  I’m 45 years old, have two children and I live in Peckham. I started working with Dave back in April, doing a couple of sessions a week. I wanted to work with a trainer as I’ve neglected my health and fitness a bit over the past few years. I work in a busy job, often from home so it’s easy to become complacent and gradually slip into bad habits. Over the years I’ve gone in and out of exercise routines - playing football (which I struggle to do regularly), running, aerobics/online workouts, but nothing has ever really stuck.

Working with Dave has been transformational - he’s really good at pushing me whilst still keeping it fun. I don’t respond to being yelled at, which is why I’d never really pursued gym sessions in the past, but Dave is very calm and explains the various exercises really clearly. Knowing why I’m doing something really helps me stay motivated. I’d recommend Dave to anyone interested in improving their strength and fitness - his advice around nutrition has helped me make some easy changes that are having results. I’ve lost a few kilos, stopped drinking alcohol during the week and feel better about myself.

Hi Everyone

Tomorrow I'm starting a 30-day weight loss challenge with some of my local clients. If anybody is interested in joining it, it's a what's app group. I will be sharing daily nutrition and exercise tips and we will be following a simple 6 step process. It's a great time of year to lose a couple of kg or 4 to 6 lb before the December festivities start. It's a free to join. Please email me at [email protected] or call David 07886819934. Thanks so much.

I have been having weekly PT sessions with Dave since mid 2022 but 2023 was the year it all started to come together.  Under Dave’s gently guidance (and reminders!) I have stepped up my activity levels and consistently worked at my strength training (with the aid of his brilliant personalised workouts).  I also made some small changes to the way I eat which started to make a difference to how I felt and then I participated in the 30 day challenge with Dave in November. This was great timing for Christmas and gave me the focus and motivation to keep going – resulting in a 1 stone weight loss since June 2023!  The support from Dave and being part of the group for the challenge definitely made it easier to stay on track.  Sign me up for the next one Dave!

    • I believe around 57% of the 5,538 people who were part of the self selecting sample making up the original consultation, opposed the LTN. So just over 3,000 people. This was around 3 years ago now. I think there’s something like 40,000+ living across se22 and SE21 🤷‍♂️  The LTN is a minority interest at best. Whilst it’s an obsession for a small number on the transport thread who strongly oppose it, I suspect most locals quietly approve of the improvements made to that junction. …and we still haven’t heard who has supposedly been pressurising the emergency services and how? Or who genuinely believes that people are partially covering their plates and driving through the filters due to inadequate signage as ‘One’ are claiming? Again, it all sounds a little ridiculous / desperate. Feels like it may be time for them to start coming to terms with the changes.
    • Okay Earl, of those 'consulted' how many voices were in favour of the junction and how many against? Were there more responses in favour or more against? This local junction change is being driven by Southwark Labour Councillors- not as you assert by Central Govt. Also, if consultations are so irrelevant as indicators of meaningful local support in the way you seem to imply, why do organisations like Southwark Cyclists constantly ask their members to respond to all and any consultation on LTN's and CPZ's?
    • You could apply the same argument to any kind of penalty as an effective deterrent.  Better than doing nothing.
    • Check the link I provided above. It gives a very full account of where the push for LTNs came from, (in brief, central government). The consultation did not show that the majority of local residents were against the LTN. Not for the first time, you’ve confused a ‘consultation’ with a ‘referendum’. The outcome of local elections (which many opposed to LTNs excitedly promoted as a referendum on the scheme at the time…until they lost), suggests they are actually quite popular. All the polling on LTNs generally, also shows strong majority support across London.
