The noncemaster general speaks.

Keep it up mate, that hole you are digging just gets deeper

Sergeant Buzfuz - great south London band - are bringing out a series of songs covering the entire history of the papacy - check out

(I also heartily recommend Part 4, which boasts a truly magnificent bassline and the striking opening couplet 'Anacletus the Second liked to rape nuns / His sister was the mother of some of his sons'...)

So, Here is one I wish the world knew...

Working backstage at the bafta awards this year I got into a conversation with Nicholas Holt, his agent and a nameless bafta representative. Turns out Nicholas Holt is to begin filming the next mad max film in 2011 in Rome. The Bafta rep lives in Rome and is best friends with the POPE'S BOYFRIEND! No word of a lie, the current pope has had a male lover for a few decades and the pope and lover own a house in Rome. Nick was invited to visit as apparently the pope and his lover would love to meet him as they appreciate fine young men. Nick responded politely. I smiled and nodded and tried not to laugh or cry. I made some enquiries and apparently the aid who advised the pope that the uk is like the third world is the other half. Brilliant.

This needs to be outted as not only can I not stand the homophobic nazi paedo twat but this is just too hypocritical.

Anyway, you never heard it from me.

Many people find the teachings of the Catholic church deeply offensive. Chacun a son gout, don't you think?

I DEFINITELY want a Benedictaphone. I mean who wouldn't find that handy? And it's a key ring too. http://www.find-me-a-gift.co.uk/benedictaphone-talking-pope-keyring.html

Bostin!

Edited to say I didn't look at the beginning of this thread, cos it's just tooooo long, so didn't know there were already links to memorabilia! So happy. Ordering Benedictaphone right now!

    • Kwik Fit buggered up an A/C leak diagnosis for me (saying there wasn't one, when there was) and sold a regas. The vehicle had to be taken to an A/C specialist for condensor replacement and a further regas. Not impressed.
    • Yes, these are all good points. I agree with you, that division has led us down dangerous paths in the past. And I deplore any kind of racism (as I think you probably know).  But I feel that a lot of the current wave of xenophobia we're witnessing is actually more about a general malaise and discontent. I know non-white people around here who are surprisingly vocal about immigrants - legal or otherwise. I think this feeling transcends skin colour for a lot of people and isn't as simple as, say, the Jew hatred of the 1930s or the Irish and Black racism that we saw laterally. I think people feel ignored and looked down upon.  What you don't realise, Sephiroth, is that I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying. I just think that looking down on people because of their voting history and opinions is self-defeating. And that's where Labour's getting it wrong and Reform is reaping the rewards.
    • @Sephiroth you made some interesting points on the economy, on the Lammy thread. Thought it worth broadening the discussion. Reeves (irrespective of her financial competence) clearly was too downbeat on things when Labour came into power. But could there have been more honesty on the liklihood of taxes going up (which they have done, and will do in any case due to the freezing of personal allowances).  It may have been a silly commitment not to do this, but were you damned if you do and damned if you don't?
    • I'd quit this thread, let those who just want to slag Labour off have their own thread.  Your views on the economy are worth debating.  I'm just stunned how there wasn't this level of noise with the last government.  I could try to get some dirt on Badenoch but she is pointless  Whilst I am not a fan of the Daily Mirror at least there is some respite from Labour bashing. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/grenfell-hillsborough-families-make-powerful-36175862 https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/nigel-farage-facing-parliamentary-investigation-36188612
