When I saw them in '04, Shane was really quite bad, he managed the songs okay, but couldn't be understood between tunes at all, and had to go off every 2 songs for a break (and a drink I imagine). The following year he was a different man, seemed to be a lot cleaner, and just much more there as part of it, rather than just in a haze.

I know this is gigs-already-seen but:

Do you love Rock music?

Have you been dissapointed with most of what you've heard over the last few years?

Do you want to get that feeling you got when you were in your teens and saw what live music could be like?

Well come with me to

I'll be going to one of the last gigs on the list as I am unable to attend earlier but if you haven;t seen this guy you simply must. I'm surprised it;s the Soho Theatre - I've seen him upstairs at the Garage, Borderline and Scala but in any case this oene man and his guitar will single-handedly restore your faith in rock n roll.... who's with me?

Yes it is great, Slash is there, nuff said! ;-)

Seriously, I saw them a couple of years ago at Hammersmith, and it was great. Played a few G N'R classics (not the really big hits, more things like Mr Brownstone), and a few Stone Temple Pilots tunes, as well as most of the first album.

Now they've released the second album, they may do less of the old stuff, but I'd still say it would be a cool gig. Good old fashioned guitar rock at it's best!

Was thinking about it myself, but need to save pennies. Going to see Korn in March which should be interesting.

Right, Monday 3rd March went to see Korn @ Brixton

Now I wasn't really looking forward to this I have to admit. I sent an email about it to a mate and his missus because I know he's in to his rock/metal, and next thing I know she's bought me a ticket cos she "knew I wouldn't want to miss out"... So, I had to pay ?27.50 to go to this gig which I wasn't interested in.

Monday I met him in the CPT for a couple of pints before hand, and after the weekend I'd just had, I was feeling less like going than ever. But we called a cab and off we went.

Apparently it was sold out, but the academy didn't seem so horribly rammed as it has the last couple of times I've been, so maybe they're selling less tickets, which is a good thing!

Korn came on stage about half 9, and they were f**king awesome!!!!!!!

Their sound was absolutely immense, the drummer and guitarist were so so tight, the keyboards were great, they were headbanging away, and the singer was on form in a very old school rock god type way "WE LOVE YOU BRIIIIIIIIXTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!" (Cue huge cheers).

They got the audience involved and there was lots of singing along, and they played old and new tunes to please the 30-40 year old rockers as well as the 12-20 year olds who made me feel ancient.

Lighting was really good, set was well balanced, throwing a couple of more gentle ones in to give everyone a rest and calm down the mosh at the front.

I hadn't realised they'd been around since 1991, but said to my friend after that I heard a bit of Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, System of a down, Placebo, Evanescence and loads more in their music, so they have obviously played their part in influencing the American rock scene.

Admitedly, by the time the set was finishing I was desperate for my bed, but that's not really anything to do with them, it was that weekend I mentioned earlier. All in all, a much more enjoyable gig than I'd expected, and I actually would go and see them again.

Next up, Gossip again on Good Friday. Only problem is it's Shep Bush, which is one of my least favourite venues.

I'll be very interested to hear what you think too. Lovin' the few tracks I've heard and not put off by the fact that she came second in Wawffactor, a Welsh alternative to Pop Idol!

She sounds a bit like Dusty Springfield. There's atrack in the music room if you're interested. And she was number 1 in the charts for a couple of weeks if that means anything any more.

I think there's a track of hers currently up in the music room somewhere. Have a horrible feeling those embedded things aren't searchable though. damn, amy have to start putting some text in there too.

found it, jah put it up

    • Hello.  A parcel for someone at 64B Blenheim Grove has been dumped at my address.  If anyone from 64B is in this forum, please get in touch!
    • CPR Dave is anti-dogs. Each to their own  I think my dog has perhaps grown a bit less nervy about the fireworks in the last few weeks, interestingly. Our last dog had no problems with them until he reached old age, when he became petrified.  CPR Dave - it's not just sounds of the metropolis they hate, mine collapses in fear when he hears thunder too
    • There's quite a difference between going for a run around the footpaths and trying to sit quietly for an afternoon in a wide, grassy area and enjoying the peace & nature. The other two grassy areas in the park are used for sports, and both had barriered trackway running through them. The Parkrun had to be cancelled for at least three weeks, iirc. I'm concerned by your continued reference to "the rye" - the event is held in the park, not on the rye (common). There is a big difference, despite the organisers and council artificially amalgamating the whole area when trying to convince everyone that it's only a small area that is closed off. The railings & gates enclosing the park are a big clue...
    • So have you cancelled your contract with InPost / Yodel now? If so, that's probably caused hundreds of parcels to be stuck in limbo, as they've said to me before that they can't redirect them to a different store. I have a parcel that was refused by you twice, the last time on 5/12, and since then there's been no updates, despite me calling them 3 times. They just say it's being investigated, but if they now can't physically deliver to you then that is obviously the issue. So much for shopping for Christmas presents early, looks like I'll never get them now.
