Poor Michael - he hasn't aged well, but to be taken for your own father's brother.. that's got to hurt.

Forget celebrities, but when innocent people die as a result of War, Famine, Flood or whatever, you can't find it in yourself to be saddened by the waste of human life?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I am a massive Tony Curtis fan and started the thread about him earlier this year.

I have just come home and even before turniong the telly on am reading the news I have been dreading ON ThIS FORUM.

I am devastated. He was fabulous. I am going to spend the weekend watching my Persuaders DVD of ALL the shows back to back. They're showing Monte Carlo or Bust next week on telly.

OH I am so sad.

ANd YES jsut to get OFF thread for a moment I get sad when people die in wars. But give us a break will you!

    • Ah, thanks,  it all comes flooding back. I've actually been to the Hastings shop, I'd forgotten all about it, along with her name! Didn't she (in between?)  take over what  was then The Magnolia, previously The Magdala, now The Lordship, with her then partner? Or is that some figment of my imagination?  In fact, didn't they transform it from The Magdala (much missed) to The Magnolia? With flowery wallpaper covering the front of the bar? Which reminds me of the pub's brief period after The Magnolia  as the ill-conceived and ill-fated The Patch.

    • A belated recommendation for Iain and Paul od Oddbods who came to help me with various jobs before Christmas.  Painting ceiling, renewing silicone around bath, repairing a window sill which was almost beyond repair and hanging a large mirror.   Very happy with their work and they are friendly and very reliable and excellent at communicating.  No hesitation in recommending them.
