Tea Party takeover of EDF?

Now I'm not one to start needless grief but it's getting on for Thursday and the Iceland thread has died and...

I've always thought of the EDF as containing a variety of views but with a sort of liberal lefty center of gravity. Yet in recent months I've detected a definite shift - with more scary stranger danger stories etc. Is it me or (even if we correct for Eater81 type outliers), is a kind of populist conservativism becoming more prevalent on the forum? If so what caused it and will it continue?

I have never been in a clique before, though if there is a ladies footie clique, I reckon I am in that one. Cool. Cakes are on me then, well not literally on me. Though that could be arranged.
