legalbeagle
This may be, in fact this is, an odd request. But I think you can handle it.Can anyone think of a way of frying/grilling/cooking bacon without also needing any kind of extractor fan/other extraction type thingy? DJKillaQueen
Cook it in the oven wrapped in foil. That will trap most of the evaporated fat and smells (if that's what you are worried about). legalbeagle
Should have mentioned, no kitchen. Therefore no oven, or, erm, tumble dryers! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14337-how-to-cook-bacon/#findComment-383198 Share on other sites
Ted Max
Stewed with puy lentils.Or braised with red cabbage. Some good bread. Cider. Elgar. Your favourite wool socks. Some old photo albums. Jeremy
Could you cook the bacon off-site and keep it warm in one of those "range" thingies? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14337-how-to-cook-bacon/#findComment-383205 Share on other sites

david_carnell
You can cook streaky bacon to a decent crunch in a microwave. You can even buy a special thing for it to sit on.Here.It's WRONG. But you could do it. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14337-how-to-cook-bacon/#findComment-383211 Share on other sites
Jeremy
I can see how that could work, it would basically fry in it's own fat. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14337-how-to-cook-bacon/#findComment-383226 Share on other sites

HAL9000
I'm not sure I understand the question - anyway, grilling or frying bacon is likely to spatter hot fat far and wide and infuse one's abode with its characteristic aroma. There's no pleasure without pain - they say.I use a frying pan with a glass lid to catch the sizzle - not much one can do about the smell, though - short of converting to Judaism or Islam or becoming a vegetarian. Jah Lush
The smell is the best bit. Many a veggie has succumbed to the smell of bacon sizzling in the pan. HAL9000
There are huge black-markets for bacon (and ham) in countries where it's banned for religious reasons. And they are often exploited via foreign diplomatic bags! A friend of mine says she is a vegetarian, except that she likes a bacon sarnie.A bit like some of my in-laws who, when offered a drink, say "I don't drink, but I'll take a drop of Baileys" or "I'll take a drop of rum for my chest". Makes me chuckle every time. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/14337-how-to-cook-bacon/#findComment-383304 Share on other sites
